Well-Heeled Gambler Hat?

Post » Thu Nov 04, 2010 12:19 am

Alright, so I'm a perfectionist and like to collect everything possible. I'm currently hunting down the Gambler clothes items and there's one I just can't find: The "Well-Heeled Gambler Hat", I've done several sweeps of the strip and just can't find it. I've seen it in the game files list for the G.E.C.K. but have yet to see it in-game. Has anyone seen it, or can anyone with a G.E.C.K. check to see where it spawns?

the only unique gamblers hat I've seen is the one you get if you chose the wildwasteland perk. I think its called the swave gamblers hat or something...it was near goodsprings if I remember correctly. Other than that I've never hear or seen the "well-heeled gamblers hat."

I found it in the GECK although it seems you're outta luck. As far as I can tell it's not used by any NPC or is placed anywhere in the world.

I think if you win over a certain ammount in the atomic wrangler casino in Freeside, you get a similar one.
It may not be the exact hat your looking for, but a daper gambling hat is one of the gifts for winning there.
Have you tried killing every one in the strip a few times? i.e go away wait a week then return.

So not even a random NPC can spawn with it? Looks like it's lost content, like the "Papa Khan Helmet," "Legate's Armor" and "Jason Bright's Outfit"

Trust Me, I killed EVERYONE, even people not wearing any hat, because sometimes they don't wear one, but they have one in their inventory. Not one person had any. I found tons of "Dapper Gambler Hats," "Fancy Gambler Hats," and "Stylish Gambler Hats," (And already had the "Suave Gambler Hat") but did not find a single "Well-Heeled Gambler Hat". Another problem was that no one respawned no matter how long I waited, so that plan was full of holes.

That's the "Suave Gambler Hat". It is NOT the hat in question. You should try to read more carefully.

Actually, when I look in the GECK it says it's "used" by 2 users, there are just none actually placed loosely in the world. Whether this actually means anything I don't know....such as npc's scripted to wear one...I have no idea how to check what specific npc's etc. might be wearing it, if any. (edit) ps. the female version is light brown with a tall feather, the male version just looks like every other gambler hat...

Ah yes this is very true, and I have to admit I am kinda noobish when it comes to the GECK. But as far as I can tell those 2 "users" only represent resources used by the editor. One of those beeing something called "Everything", while the other mentions the hat in some obscure script that I can't really make anything of...

And from what I can tell from that, it hints that some NPC called Cato could have something to do with the hat, and he does indeed exist in the GECK and seems to be in the game as well, not that I remember seeing him. Although his hat does not appear to exist in his inventory. Perhaps someone more skilled with reading scripts could shed some more light onto this.

I have a question. Is there a Suave Gambler Outfit to go with the hat in WW?

And upon further investigation it seems this mystery was cracked...
Wiki page on this character: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Cato_Hostilius

(Hope this isn't too spoilery for this part of the forum)

...Upon waking, he will be dressed in civilian clothing...

So I guess that's it! Most likely that script does in fact change his clothing...

So that means that the only way to get it is to side with Legion...D:

Or just side with them, let Kimball die (Because I want his suit and "Meat of Champions"), kill Cato, and finish up with Yes Man... :D

I have a Well-heeled Gambler Hat. I used Mr. Sandman to kill a Gambler asleep at the Old Mormom fort. My character is female, and when she wears the "hat" is appears as a black veil.

o_O

You sure it wasn't one of the other 3?
If you are sure about it, then I think I love you (if you're a girl that is, if you're a guy, then we can just be good friends).

. . . Oh man, I'm really sorry about that . . . I don't have the item anymore, but I reloaded a previous save and killed the guy over again. It was a well-heeled gambler suit and dapper gambler hat.

Apologies. I'll kill every other gambler I meet in the hopes of finding it for you.

i beleive the dapper suit can be obtained from the legionary that visits you after you 'deal' with benny in the tops, he walks to around the corner of the 38 in that section, sneak into hidden mode, kill him, stand up and take his stuff, and you now have the dapper set

Ah, but I'm not looking for the Dapper set.

I'm looking for the "Well-Heeled Gambler Hat"

It's even in the title of the thread...

It pretty much means rich or wealthy, like the above poster stated. However, the actual name of the hat is "Well-Heeled Gambler Hat", so don't let it confuse you. :icecream:
