Traditional would be a fair word to use
Call me old fashioned, but games of decades past have a greater ratio of lasting appeal than most modern games, I find.
You have 150 days overall to find the chip, the game will end if you don't find it by then, although 150 days can last quite a while anyway
There's a way to extend this limit to 250 days if you make a deal with a certain merchant group at the Hub, but this has a side-effect, I don't see it as a downside personally, because I've rarely clocked up 400+ days on FO1s world map, take from that what you will, but I shall say no more
Also, if you find the world map travel in your games is a little too quick, it's because of the way the original Fallouts work on higher-end systems, there are patches you can install to fix this problem, and it can enhance your game by giving you a greater chance for random encounters on your travels
Refer to the sticky at the top of this board, it contains some mods/patches that most of us fans of the originals would definitely recommend
I'd advise you finish your current playthrough if you're quite far into it, because some patches/mods make previous save files redundant.
