[WIPz] Wellspring Vale

Post » Sat Jul 03, 2010 2:39 pm

Description:
Well this started out as a single house for the player that would double as an art gallery and modders painting resource. It has since grown. :P From one house to two and then more kept wandering in to fill up the lovely empty clearing and now there's a whole village. I'm not big on WIP threads for my houses but as this has mutated into a little village, I thought I may as well.

Wellspring Vale comprises a lovely player home, a Galleria house which I'll get into in a sec, an outdoor market square, stable, small cemetery and cozy Inn, among a few other treats.

The Galleria house is the real focus here. Inside you'll find an Altmer woman offering paintings for sale. These can be bought and placed anywhere you like. In any vanilla or modded home. They work as clutter items on Easels thanks to the genius help of InsanitySorrow. :foodndrink: There are actually many more paintings than are for sale and all will be offered as a modders resource.

The player home, Autumn Cottage, is frankly some of my favorite work. My character, Cyrodiil Red, moved all her ill gotten goodies in as soon as she saw the place.

Now, a couple months ago, the boot drive on my PC was killed during a storm fueled power surge. :banghead: I lost several weeks work on Wellspring, my whole Oblivion install in fact. Thank InsanitySorrow for keeping and old copy of the village around. It would have been lost for good if not for him.

Left to do at this point:
a dungeon I had added, lost with the drive, some cluttering, a minor quest build and some dialogue. I haven't decided yet whether to add dialogue to all my NPC's or only my painting vendor. If I add to all, I may leave it silent in the interest of saving time til release. Greenwarden has graciously agreed to voice my Altmer lady. And with one hell of a personality. LOL

Compatibility:
I can say my village is perfectly compatible with Ervvin's Ayleid Steps. The Ayleid well in the center of the village has three steps on it with his mod active and I took great pains not to disturb it. I love the steps and having them on the Well is just frosty goodness for me.

There may be some conflicts with a UL that's been started recently. Wellspring is located North of Kvatch on the plains and this new UL will cover that entire area and much more. We'll cover that when that UL eventually releases and get the village and UL Kvatch Lowlands patched up quickly I'm sure.

That's all I suppose. :D Here are some screens to whet your appetite. Do please let me know what you think, share your thoughts, suggestions, whatever. The village has had several changes since it started thanks to some good ideas given to me by others.

:foodndrink:

Wow, looks lovely. I am always happy to add additional towns, villages and inns. I tend to roleplay that my characters will try for shelter as full night comes on, and seeing a village in the distance is always a relief.:)

Aww thanks Ladies! :hugs: It's taken me a little while to get around to opening it up in the CS again. I didn't want to see how much work I'd lost. LOL Now I have the need to get it done finally. Just needed some courage first.

Wellspring does indeed live! :celebration:

Well you know me, I love a good village and I've been waiting for this one. Glad you got the drive issue and backup worked out, would have been a real shame to see this one toast.

:lmao: Don't get too excited. This will only have a small quest to gain ownership of Autumn Cottage. LOL I'm not up to a major questbuild yet. Still learning here.

:hugs: Thank you. And it surely looks beautiful. :goodjob:

:hugs: Every time I scout a new location for a house, I check for Steps and then make sure not to disturb them. It's a must have, never play without mod for me.

Looks good, only suggestion is to add some vertex shading around the houses, tents.

I actually just did that yesterday! :lmao: Haven't had a chance to grab any new screens yet. LOL

Aww thank you! :hugs: It's the little details that make it all worth it in my opinion. Vanilla homes and clutter made me truly appreciate what's missing. LOL

Well be prepared for me to pass it to you at some point and beg for your expert help making sure I've not screwed anything up. :lmao: If you're willing that is. I've always appreciated that help from you.

Im sort of an Art Connoisseur and this looks amazing.

:foodndrink: I hope it lives up to expectations! :lmao: I will say, the placeable paintings are just fantastic and they can be locked in place once you've got them where you want them.

Well. update. A not happy one. The last time I loaded the village up I didn't go in the Galleria house. I should have. :banghead: All my paintings are gone. Lost with the dead drive.

Did I mention :banghead: Seems I added all the paintings to the village AFTER I sent InsanitySorrow the copy of the village he still had. :cold: As soon as I start breathing again I'll see about making new paintings. Oh my gawd.

:banghead: Of all the things to lose entirely.

Huzzah! :lmao: All the paintings are back in the mod, hanging where they should be after some obsessive, I must fix this, cs time from me. XD I've also found an older esp with teh dungeon intact. I'll need to get that pulled from the old esp and merged into the new one. :D Which leaves redoing the NPC AI and adding the placeable paintings back in, sorry IS! LOL

Well I think the exterior is finished now, along with all the interiors except the dungeon. :P That still needs some tweaking. Here are some new shots of the finished exterior though.
