If I Were To Decorate My House...

Post » Fri Jul 02, 2010 5:05 pm

Replaying Fallout for the first time since June, and as the nublet I apparently I am I didn't realise the grab feature was available on console. Now Fallout Wiki tells me it's the right stick (which I will be sure to put to good use in future, dropping corpses off outrageously high ledges and so forth), I've realised I can decorate my house, just like in good ol' Oblivion. :D

Thing is, I'm nowhere near as knowledgeable on Fallout as I was on Elder Scrolls, so which items would you recommend me to fill up my humble Megaton abode with? Any help appreciated. :)

Does your character collect anything?

In the past, I have placed Action Abe, a Nuka Cola Truck and a Nuka Cola Quantum on my desk, teddy bears on my bed, the oversized teddies including the Legendary teddy beside the lockers near the kitchen, an Enclave helmet and the Gauss Rifle on my workbench, a dog bowl with a piece of ant meat in it by the Bobblehead stand for Dogmeat and an army of Intact Garden Gnomes outside the front door.

I give Dogmeat a bowl (where I drop mole rat meat into it), a giant teddy bear to sleep with, etc. My character is in a relationship with Mr. Burke, and we have the love-theme bought from Moira. On our bed in the main room is a camera (ahem) and some books for light reading. Behind it is our collection of cash (pre-war money) and a collection of Nuka-Cola trucks. We have a little corner with children's toys, closed in by an enormous collection of teddy bears of different sizes. Jericho sleeps upstairs in the little room (sometimes down in the bed with us, depending on Burke's mood ;D), where the desk has about 50 cartons of cigarettes. The room next to that is the junk room, where we put all of our junk - this is also where the body of Wadsworth lies *cough* Across the second floor is our unique armour and weapon collection out on display. Our fridge is always stocked with food.

I know it doesn't make much sense since Mr. Burke hates Megaton, but (inspired by the love note event from the black widow perk) my character has enticed him to her beck and call. She picked up Jericho later on because they needed more gun power during exploration, and someone to fill the bed a little more on those special nights. Jericho won't dare touch Burke, so my character usually is being fought over by the two of them.

I know I'm weird.

He doesn't at the moment, but could always begin. :) I like the idea of a dognowl with some meat in in, and a formidable gnome army must be a lot of fun.

Wow. :woot:

Mr. Burke dissapeared after I told him to stick it and disarmed the bomb like a good little boy. And if I be bothered to find him again, I'd shoot him in the face, so there goes that side of the roleplay. ^_^

Teddy Bears are a good thing to collect, in my Tenpenny Suite my character has a lot of cute teddy bears around and on his bed. Empty bottles also look nice on shelves, and you could collect Nuka Cola Trucks. Also Brahmin Skulls and Mutilated Skulls look cool on display.

I collect items from my fallen enemies. Like if I was to kill......Lets say Vance then I would take something he has on him and place it in my home in this example I am going to say his coat, and that I placed it on my table in my home. :)

depends on any time you want to collect, the wasteland has a lot of things you can take (corpses, nuka cola trucks etc), so whatever suits as your home decoration give it a try.

Merchants who deal in miscellaneous merchandise will occasionally stock one. I can usually find one for sale at Craterside Supply early in the game and I've found dead random scavengers with one in their inventory. They rarely turn up so if you find one for sale, grab it.

Thought the gnomes looked better on the ledge around the outside of the crib. Pots canbe useful if you want the workbench area to look like a garage. Only three in game.
