WERE dwemer short? A discussion

http://img373.imageshack.us/img373/4111/wdbr1.png Bosmer male are definitely smaller then Dwemer.

Also, that dwemer ghost has really bad posture, so he's going to come out even taller if he stands up straight.

Dwemer weren't short, there's not enough evidence to prove otherwise.

They may have been shorter than average as some stuff in game may say, maybe similar to the size of a Bosmer. They're shorter than average but they aren't super short.
Oor the sources saying they are shorter are Altmer, and everything is shorter in comparison to them.

Well I'm sure there are Nords and Orcs who make Altmer look like Bosmer. It's just that ingame, everone of a certain race/gender is the same height.

My question is why can we not know this from the newest game? Why did Morrowind's Dwemer ruins have Dwemer ghosts and piles of ash and Skyrim's Dwemer ruins do not? There should be Dwemer ghosts imo. This is probably just an oversight or time constraint thing but tey could have just used the lame ghost NPC thing for them if all else failed...damn!!

We don't know if his feet are touching the ground either. He could be floating.

Dwemer ghosts ruined the mystery of it. All Dwemer were supposed to have vanished, and the Ghosts ruined that.

All living Dwemer vanished except one...I felt like the ghosts added to the mystery. These were the lost souls(or whatever) of the Dwemer that died before their race up and vanished and it kept the mystery in line imo too. All it gave away was some fashion styles and the vague appearance of the Dwemer before they died. I for one think it would have been incredible to see Dwemer ghosts. They could be used for any number of things without giving away the mystery. They would be even more clueless than Yaggrum Bagarn in terms of what happened to their race for the most part. Could have just been used for livening up(Undead I know) the Dwemer ruins.

What I would love to see in future games, when exploring ruins of dwemer, you notice in the distance some strange shapes watching you that could be dwemer.
That would be a bomb of mystery.

Non-aggressive Dwemer Ghosts studying and observing you? That certainly would add to the mystery. Not sure if they are coherent at this point though. The way I remember that ghosts work is that they slowly get stripped of their souls, sanity and memories the longer they are not recycled in the dreamsleeve. So coherence is something that may not fit well but idk for sure. Maybe the Dwemer are special in that they broke their connection to the dreamsleeve and essentially ripped themselves out of that process when they became the skin of the Numidium. So the old Dwemer ghosts do not have anything stripping them of their sanity or soul stuff maybe? Eh just some shots in the dark.

There are lots of ghosts that retain their sanity long after death. But whether there is some divine intervention going on, I dunno.

Yes but those usually have special circumstances around them don't they? I recall someone saying something to the effect that the longer a ghost is a away from the Dreamsleeve the less it retains who it was. Could someone back me up or refute this for me if you already know what I am talking about? Need to get ready for a plane ride so no time for research!

You're probably right. I think special circumstances are needed for ghosts, period
But the Dwemer certainly fall under the "special circumstance" category, eh?

Must be the camera angle. He looks small compared to the chair/desk.

Thts just the way BGS sets their first person angles in their games. They set them at the neck instead of your PC's eyes so you alway look shorter than you are in 1st person. Not sure why...must be some reason they do that...And if the dwemer looks small in comparison to those chairs, keep in mind those are dwemer chairs so they are made by them for them so its just the angle or somethings wrong with the size of tht specific dwemer

Where they short?

To the Ehlnofey? Yes

To the Altmer? Probably on average yes

To the Nords and Chimer? No they probably weren't.

Yes they are second in modern times, but u can't know if thats the case thousands of years in the past.

If the Dwemer were closer in relation to the Altmer/Aldmer then no they would probably be taller than Nords. If however they were closer to the Chimer then you'd be right, but we can't know for certain.

Oh and I'm pretty sure the Osimer are the second tallest on average. Could be wrong about that though.

Was just playing Morrowind other day, (didnt read past 6 or 7th post..)

When you ask about the Dwemer, they tell you why the Dunmer call them one word(Dwemer, Non-god or w/e it said), and why Imperial call them Dwavern)

Dwarvern was in relation to how they were Dwarf in size compared to the Gaints. Not rest of races. They are saame height as rest of us.

==============
"Dwemer," which translates to "deep," "deep-counseled," or "secretive" people.
Dwarves, a term used by Imperials as they were dwarfen in relation to Gaint Folk.

If I remember i'll nab a screen cap... It was a wall o text when i clicked it..
