True, and Helena is indeed a devout chapel-goer. However, she still feels that there should be a guild of Healers. Some day, she hopes to open her own "hospital". That is, once she's learned enough to make it a viable plan. I know she isn't ready for it, even if she insists she is.
Interesting to see if Helena emphasizes the mage style healing or that of the priests and/or how she blends them. I wonder if her healing will develop along the same lines as Buffy's.
Buffy is a University graduate. In fact restoration was her secondary specialty after illusion. Yet, in spending lots of time with Marz at the Great Chapel of Mara in Bravil and traveling with the spirit of a paladin inside her, she finds that she heals like a priest or paladin - by laying on of hands and empathy. In fact she cannot cast a ranged healing spell. She can only heal by touching her patient. She has to just toss a healing potion to any allies that she can't actually get to. The advantage of her style of healing is that with the initmate physical bond of white magic she uses, she can assess and diagnose her patients. She can sense old healed wounds and even glimpse into the very spirit of her patient. In fact, she can even somewhat sooth emotional trauma and ease a broken heart - at least temporarily. Another drawback of her healing though is that it is empathic; that is she must accept some of the pain from her patient to heal them. Healing is quite the emotional experience for her. As her friend, Lothran says, she is a little elf but has a big heart.
