Were you Bullied?

Post » Mon Jul 19, 2010 2:11 pm

Just curious how many people here went to a school where they had to deal with a bully or being bullied by a person or persons. Had to deal with them myself and it definitely wasn't easy, but managed to get through it. Hardest part was dealing with Middle School and High School when they ramped up their efforts on me to try to break me down. High School was particular difficult cause the girls started to join in since I was the nerd in class and if I tried anything they basically called over their football/jock boyfriends to back em up. Even had one incident where a jock threatened me saying if I didn't stop teasing "his girl" he would get POed at me. Worst part was he waited for me almost as if he was stalking me and really there was nothing to do, but ride out the storm.

Really glad i'm out of the public school element since things have gotten worse. Starting to think these kids that graduate from HS need a T-Shirt awarded to them along with their diploma saying "I Survived Public School Mofos!"

Yeah I have been bullied. Lucky for me it wasn't in High School, but younger when I went out and played. (Thats when kids use to go outside and play instead of being indoors all the time :P)

Nope, never have. I'm not/wasn't the stereotypical nerdy kid who let people push me around. :/ I stick up for myself and people know I will.

This isn't to say that I'm not a nerdy kid though ;)

Not really. We didn't really have any bullies in school per se, we did used to pick on someone though, and that someone was sometimes me. In my case, they used to make fun of my farting. Let's just say they stank really really bad.

You were lucky the school system around me had their heads up their butts. They put a strict policy into place saying anyone caught fighting gets suspended since they didn't want to deal with it. Only way to get out of the suspension was the lay down on the ground bruised, beaten, and bloodied to a pulp. Even then you were probably still getting a suspension since the school didn't want to deal with the problem. This is mostly why I just played possum and let kids say whatever they wanted to say to me leaving them alone. Thought that's not to say I wasn't able to get back at them through certain means. ;)

Nope, I've always gotten along with people, and the only problems anyone had with me were the people who had problems with everyone.

Nah and quite honestly I should have been. Chunky, geeky and glasses. What wasn't to bully? ;) But to be honest I was generally too confident to be bullied. I didn't take myself too seriously, was aware of my flaws and was lucky to go to a school where there generally weren't any cliques. Everyone was nice to everyone or if they didn't like them, ignored them. It was an all girls school too so you'd think it would have been 20x worse!

Really that's hard to say, but I do know the girls in public school can be vicious as heck. You haven't seen a real school fight until you've seen two HS girls go at it imho. They will go at it tooth and nail literally which is interesting as well as scary.

YES. ?>?

Started in grade school; went on all through high school.
Ignoring them didn't work.
Fighting back didn't work.
Reporting them to relevant authority figures didn't work.

Posters above me with nice school experiences, you don't know how lucky you had it.

Hell, I'm still bitter. If nothing else the experience taught me how to concentrate all of my anger into superfine, white-hot HATE BEAMS.
I shoot them out my eyes. I may even be able to burn holes in drywall with them.
Thankfully, the HATE BEAMS are now reserved almost exclusively for morons, Fox newscasters, and people who cut me off in traffic. >.>

On the bright side, I went off to college and discovered there was sentient life on the planet after all. Pending supervillain status averted! : D**

EDIT: [censored] typo.

I wasn't the most social guy but everything was alright, I was never bullied. A little joke here and there about my size sometimes because I used to be the smallest of the class, but I was okay with that and it wasn't really serious. In the year when we did our final exams I was actually a little taller than some of my class mates. :P

I still look 15 though.

Fairly constantly. Walking across campus, people would try to unzip my backpack so everything would fall out. In class, people sitting next to/around me occupy themselves with insults or at times grabbing and destroying my papers. I had to change my route walking home more than once to avoid people throwing rocks at me. Outside of class I'd have things shouted at me on a pretty regular basis. No shortage of kicks and prods to get me to do something for an excuse to turn it into a fight. Assorted fun like that went on for the dozen years or so that school lasted, and that was pretty much the entirety of my life's human contact.

Right now I go to an all boys high school in downtown Seattle. Our weight room coach will actually let us have fights in class, as long as there is nothing broken or too serious. I've only ever seen one fight break out, and all that was done was setting up a 2:00 minute timer and once that went off it was over, or he was going to make it be over.

Yes.

I was the "fat" kid in elementary and middle school. I was taller than everyone else, and a bit chunky, so I was picked on. And I was a nice kid, so a lot of smaller, meaner kids, who were fast at running away did a lot of picking on me. It got to the point where I cried before and after school for hours.

Then I punched the bully in front of like, 20 people. Shut EVERYONE up. No bully problems after that. Ever. Got suspended for a couple of days, but all the teachers and principle knew I was a good kid, knew I was being bullied, but it was behind a lot of teachers' backs. Point is, sometimes, violence strategic demonstration of force is the answer.

Was bullied in sixth grade and seventh grade, but that's only because I hanged out with the wrong people.

This. It ended when I was 14, and I got into a fight with the meanest, strongest [censored] in my year. It was over a chair, I recall. I lost, but apparently he was impressed enough to decide that I was "alright" and from then on, I was never physically attacked by anyone. People still took the piss out of me, but I gave as good as I got on that front. I do wish the school sysytem doesn't try and instill in you this "self defence is evil" doctrine.

Yes, back in grade school. I'm still quite bitter about it. Ignoring them didn't work, fighting back only got me in trouble, and the teachers almost never took my side. Not to mention my music teacher.

yes, and I gave up arguing with them, they like you said just get friends to back them up, even if they are wrong are just stupid. Physiacally nope, well I got punched in the balls a few times, and I cant do anything while on the floor so never retaliated, once I did, the teacher was a [censored] [censored], apparently I was causing trouble chasing after the guy who hit me and yelling an expletive when he punched me in the balls, [censored] [censored] sould have pissed off. (as you can see I am bitter, she took his side)
Anyway mostly verbal, and you cant do [censored] about it either because they have people to back them up, and hitting them you get in trouble. Honestly the school systems svck with bullying.
