Werewold Discussion V.2

Post » Tue Oct 18, 2011 9:14 am

My opinion:

Way to contradict your own folklore and setting guys. This is a MAJOR disappointment for me as it was one of the main things I wanted improved on since Oblivion. Vampires don't even make sense. I've said before how stupid it is to just go into a game like Skyrim, with all the pre-existing lore on it, and decide to devote your time to making vampires instead of werewolves. Vampires really should've been the one on the fence until now in this situation. I'll bet 50 bucks its a half-assed mechanic with no faction based quests either, JUST like it was in Oblivion. I honestly do NOT see a reason for Werewolves to fit anywhere else ACCEPT Skyrim, so why not focus on them over vampires? Where ELSE are you going to fit them? I'm just baffled, and as a fan looking very much forward to this mechanic returning, like many, I feel insulted. ESPECIALLY with the fact that they [censored] foot around it for so long getting all out hopes up, just to spill it in a foreign article. Like, seriously? Pete's excuse on it was BS too. Spoil my ass, like how announcing Vampires was a spoiler? Or that you could be a mage? Or fight trolls? They were just worrying about pissing off fans, and rightly so. You could argue they weren't sure whether they'd be in, but if they focused on them from the beginning rather than throwing BS vampires at us, they wouldn't have to worry about it. Honestly they have no frickin' excuse.

Now you can also say they'll put it in DLC, but you don't KNOW that either. They only said it was a possibility, like they said for Skyrim-vanilla, so its still on the fence. Given their pre-existing record of not putting in obvious game mechanics that are NOT that complex, I'd tend to doubt their competence on adding werewolves in DLC either. Beyond that, I'll have to pay extra money to access content that should've ALREADY been in the game. You are forcing me to pay more money to play the game the way I want to play it, which is basically you're MOTTO FOR THE GAME. Just the fact that it is in DLC means it was every bit possible for the vanilla game. I am so angry right now.

NERD RAGE.

EDIT: Sorry for title mistake.

While I'm not in a fit of nerd rage, I agree with you. You make several good points.

Also, I think I would crap my pants if a hostile Orc transformed into a wolf during combat.

I completely agree with you Hipster Thor :foodndrink: , I think we should keep all these Werewolf threads going so whenever someone from Bethesda takes a look at the forums all they will see is WEREWOLVES!

The http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Volkihar_Clan is located in Skyrim, there is bound to be weaker clans near by.

Anyone who legit likes werewolves, or even vampires do not like Twilight.
Maybe I like American Werewolf in London or The Howling, or maybe I just like comprehensive roleplaying options in the quintessential fantasy game?

I mean seriously at least look up the subject before you make accusations like this.

I think I'm finally getting tired of this werewolf whining.

That's nothing compared to the stake werewolves supposedly have(had apparently) in the region.

Can you link some sources that state the stake that werewolves supposedly have in the region?

Yes. Bethesda didn't put Werewolves in because it was their intent all along to just piss you guys off for the lulz.

...Maybe you should consider the fact that back in January in the GI Podcast, Todd Howard stated that they are "messing" with werewolves and it may or may not be in. He said the same EXACT thing about horses and they got in.

So...Put 2 and 2 together, it's clearly obvious that due to time constraints, they just couldn't add werewolves in, but I don't think time is the only factor here, it can be a design choice as well.

They didn't cut spears or mounted combat because they
didn't have time, it could be a design choice or what not. Don't assume that they since they worked on Vampires, Todd went "Oh [censored], we don't have time for Werewolves. LULZ!" it could possibly well be a game design choice or that they wanted to save werewolves for DLC.
