Werewolf Armor Rating?

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 7:57 pm

Okay. I was reading the Dawnguard wiki at random cause I was bored and found this about werewolf armor rating..

"The armor rating is 0 at level 1 and then increasing in 50 point intervals every fifth level, beginning at level 11. The maximum rating is 400 at level 46."

This is the current set-up that was added by Dawnguard and I was wondering what you guys think?

Are you sure?... That's seems a bit powerful for such a low skill level. Then again, I don't know how fast leveling the werewolf tree is since I haven't played dawnguard yet.

Interesting, thanks for being so precise. :)

So, if this is true, and there should be no doubt since it comes from UESP, werewolves can become very powerful. But does this happen with some perks, and if Dawnguard is installed?

It goes by your combat level. Once your combat level reaches 46, your armor rating will be maxed in werewolf form.

Dawnguard gotta be install cause Dawnguard revamps the whole Werewolf system... Like the old "Werewolf Claw Damage" was base like this but remade to have a different max. (Instead of a max of 70, it is 80 now.. And that is without perks)

So.. Gotta have Dawnguard.. No Perks... Correction, No perks are needed but they do help a lot if you have them.

If i'm reading this right then it's running off actual character level and not your werewolf perk tree. And as an avid werewolf player I can say that werewolves FEEL alot tougher then the measly 50 health boost beth gave us. In the vanilla strat guide beast form is supposed to give you 100 health and stamina. With the new perk tree they pulled a fast one and set teh base to +50 health and +100 stamina, with an extra unlockable 100 for both. I'll do some testing and see if it holds up as I'm used to pre-dawnguard wolves and abusing the crap out of Flesh Spells, Mage Armor and Stability perks and the Lord Stone for a tank-wolf.

Yup, I was also just reading this and I think it is great, it makes werewolves a lot more viable in late game and on harder difficulties. I also use the Lord stone, which should provide an additional 50 armor rating. :D

Lordstone is tried and true but for some real mage hunting fun grab the atronach stone and atronach perk from the alteration tree. I've a breton werewolve that absolutely munches magic users.. and anything else he can catch now. Beast Form has always been a viable late game option if you know how to use it, but with the new perk tree you can become an absolute all consuming monster. Still remember my first night with it. I had all but two perks filled out in that first in game night, a challenge some friends and I had set eachother.

-Edit- When in doubt about wolf related game play, we could always just ask Carrots. :D

I got a wolf question, specifically, what is the scaling on Totem of Terror and the Fear howl now after Dawnguard? What is the max level enemy fear will work on now?

Enemies stop scaling after lvl 50 with the exception of some new dragons. There are several lvl 81 players in the wolf pack threads i followed (before it got moved to the fan fiction section) reporting that the howl now works on most high level enemies. Personaly I preffer the summonig howl but i'll swap over and try scaring some death draugr overlords with it.

Just wanted to post a werewolf fact in case anyone else was wondering, it took me exactly 164 feedings to max out all 11 werewolf perks.

Start at the Silent Moon's camp, proceed to any and all of the bandit camps that litter the tundra of the hold until you unlock savage feeding. From there it's simply a matter of eating anything that moves. :D take a brand new werewolf and set yourself an in game dusk to dawn time limit to see how much of that tree you can unlock in a single go without transforming back. Makes for a good bit of fun.

I had noticed that I was tougher then normal once Dawnguard was installed but I thought it was the amount of damage that I was doing once I filled out the tree making it faster for me to dispatch my pery.I wonder what that means for the Mage armor perk, does it still count while in beast form seeing how your technically not wearing armor? So theoretically you could have the Mage armor perk to boost the Dragons hide spell which allows for 80% physical damage reduction on top of 400 points of armor and then add in the Lord stone for an additional 50 points of armor, which in turn will reduce the amount of damage you take to next to nothing while in beast form  And if your like me, an Orc, you can cast Beserker rage on top of all that and for 30 seconds your invincible, nothing can stop you  SWEET!!!

The armor rating scales by Character level not skill level.

Dragonhide doesn't stack with regular armor rating it actually reduces it to 0.

Yeah, there was some people on the GameFAQs Forums i think it was, that were testing this out a few months back when Dawnguard first released for XBox 360. They were at MUCH higher levels though. Like a Lvl 78 character having 48% Physical Damage Reduction in Werewolf Form, while a Lvl 57 had like 36% Physical Damage Reduction.

Anyways, 400 Armor Rating is 48% Physical Damage Reduction. You can get an extra 6% Physical Damage Reduction from the Lord Stone's +50 Armor Rating.
