Werewolf Choice

Post » Sun Dec 25, 2016 12:29 am

I've just been offered the option of becoming a werewolf (in Skyrim, not real life). I'm not fussed about it as I have Dragon Aspect. Are there any advantages or disadvantages to the two choices, and how long is the choice likely to be open to me with the Companions?

You have to become a werewolf if you want to continue Companions quest line, but you can cure yourself later if that's what you want.

Advantage would be disease immunity and Beast Form.

Disadvantage is NO RESTING BONUS and weakness to silver weapons (only Silver Hand uses them anyway).

Like any quest, you can delay it as long as you want.

It is just a tad disappointing that it is a choice forced and thrust upon everyone if they want to continue the questline.

Being a werewolf makes you immune to being infected with vampirism.

That's a plus point, unless you want to become a vampire (I personally never would), but I guess you can cure yourself if needs be

If it helps, I play through things like this for the first half of the game, and feel like my character should go on a more redemptive path the second half of the game. So I get cured, do more main-quest stuff, more Aedric stuff, etc..

That's one way of rationalizing your way through some of this, if your longterm intention is not to be a werewolf.

But yeah, it svcks that things like this are forced. It's one of my main gripes about the game: the lack of "active" participation in choices, especially with guilds. Like the only way to make a choice sometimes is simply drop a whole questline and leave everyone and everything in limbo. which is dumb as hell. That works, but it's not a very interactive way of roleplaying. This apprach happens again with the main quest with Paarth too.

Yeah, it's pretty annoying that you're forced to become a werewolf... But fortunately, besides not getting "well rested" bonuses, you can pretty much ignore it.

Thanks, Korr and Pluto. I might, for the heck of it, try a bunch of enemies in werewolf then dragon aspect form, by way of contrast, just to get some mileage out of the situation. Waste not, want not.

Disadvantages: You can't access containers, inventory or dialogue unless the NPC initiates. You can only open doors. Every time you feed, it extends the werewolf form timer. You need to feed in order to heal as a werewolf. Then when you wan to stop you may have to use the waiting / resting feature to pass time. Everyone will attack your werewolf on site. Your character gets caught transforming and instant 1000 bounty gets put on your character

Advantages: Werewolf howl. I find the fear howl most useful. Stamina regen boost. Can do some serious damage if you've advanced the right werewolf skills in the perk tree. Forward power attacks: Onehanded = knock them off their feed. Charge power attack can be instant kill in many cases
