Werewolf Discussion #3

valid opinion. I disagree... Though I didn't like the 'oblivion style' vampires.... But I think we all would like our own version of 'how they should be done.' But those are just our opinions.

They have always felt like something a little extra and never really well thought out or polished. Turn being a vampire or werewolf into something more than just a gimmick and I'd probably be a little more interested.

I disagree (atleast on the werewolf part). Werewolves were done pretty well in Morrowind...beast legs as well as running on all fours like an actual wolf. Given the time that the Bloodmoon expansion came out and the animation limitations of th engine...the werewolves were done masterfully.

Agreed, I've only see video's on youtube as I have never played it myself but what they did was great. Now I dont see how it would be too hard to update what they did in morrowind. It was perfect, and as you have pointed out...they had limitations back then. With the new generation of consoles and beth is now fimiliar with both the ps3 and 360 and with what they are capable of.

Hence why we are hoping for full blown DLC for werewolves. So they dont seem like just an after thought. If dont correctly and basing the animations on bloodmoons, I think beth could do something great here. As far as vampires go, we havent yet played the game to see how the gameplay differs from oblivion. There could be clan's there might not be we dont know yet.

Here's my opinion:

There really shouldn't be anyone defending Bethesda in this situation. They [censored] us over on what a lot of fans wanted most in Skyrim. They deliberately teased us for months and every person that says otherwise is deluded by their schemes. Isn't Pete Hines in charge of advertising and how much content they release? I can imagine him being behind this travesty since he's always a [jerk] about answering questions on Twitter. Never polite, never pays attention to the hundreds of "thank you"'s.

They should have manned up and told us they didn't know if they were going to be in or not just like they did with horses. If they were never in to begin with, why the HELL would they even imply it? And if they truly wanted it to "remain an open question until the game is released", why the ASSCRACKERS did Matt Carofano spill the beans to the Belgians of all people? Surely, they have more fans based in the US, why not give us an official yes or no? They're still dancing around it!

Note: Please excuse my tone but I never got to get a word in about how I actually felt about this.

not a big werewolf fan. It feels too much like Twilight to me. There are other features I would rather see. I never even became a wolf in Bloodmoon or daggerfell anyway.

Comments like this make no sense to me. The fantasy of werewolves existed long before Twilight, why would their presence feel too much like Twilight? (especially when they existed in an Elder Scrolls game that came out before that franchise)

exactly that was the point i was trying to get across to him before, but this is the same guy that made 3 threads on having a closed ending for skyrim like fallout had.

And a thousand Khajiit and Argonians cried.

Anyway, if they do release a DLC I hope it's not like Blood Moon, I'm hoping for something new and different. Don't get me wrong, Blood Moon was nice but I don't want to play it all over again with updated graphics. I hope they do something interesting with it when/if they start up on the DLC for Werewolves.

Here's my opinion:

Bethesda never had an obligation to tell you anything about the game. Pete Hines sure as hell doesn't have an obligation to acknowledge every "Thank You" on his Twitter page. And even after a Belgian website publishes an interview, they aren't obligated to comment on it.

I was thinking while smoking and drinking some tea...

it could involve Hircine, possibly something going wrong with his bloodmoon hunt..and he curses the player to exact revenge for him?

They have an obligation not to make their fans think one thing then give them the finger. It's called decency.

I didn't say he did. He's just a jerk for it. He also likes to give sarcastic responses to people who ask honest questions. What a great guy, eh?

I'm just saying, if he's the one behind this, it figures.

And even after a Belgian website publishes an interview, they aren't obligated to comment on it.

What is your definition of obligation? I'm sure if Bethesda lied to us this whole year and released a flight simulator instead, you'd say they weren't obligated to tell us first.

werewolves and vampires are as old as time...the myth's and legends go back to ancient times

you're only sick of it because ever since twilight everyone is trying to cash in...

I didn't say anything otherwise, but they are being casted and demanded for TOO much. There are like 500 vampire teen T.V. shows, even more movies and most of them have werewolves. Even harry potter has werewolves.

Yeah, they should totally give your hopes up by talking about every possible feature they might add to the game, even if they cannot finish it at the end properly, how horrible people.

Why don't you tell us about every quest Bethesda? Why keep us in the dark if there will be rat hunting quests or not?

I'm sorry, when did they ever make you think that werewolves were in the game? They've only refused to comment on it, because, if the Belgian article is to believed, they didn't know whether they'd be able to get it in.

And if I had to spend my days writing Twitter responses to over-caffeinated [censored], I'd be snippy too.

And my definition of "obligation" is the one in the dictionary. They don't have any obligation to release screenshots, videos, or any information at all about the game. They choose to release information in order to publicize the game and increase sales. They don't publicize it so that people on a forum can go through the trailer frame by frame to find things they don't like.

Wouldn't then at the end of said quest he un-curse you.....he could offer you a choice I suppose to either be un-cursed OR retain both your wits and ability to transform (not be a mindless monster)

Nice to imagine the scenarios by which werewolves will be implemented but If Bethesda where indeed planning to include werewolves in Skyrim as their mysterious air hinted at but time and/or glitches prevented them from doing so I imagine that they would have already started or already had in place a back up plan for an expansion.....maybe

Harry Potter has werewolves because it fits in with the wizarding world..although I do agree with you about vampires..after twilight there was a ton of vampire movies and such. Werewolves are barely touched on..theres only a handfull of games and movies that even center upon them..

There's no need to be offensive and off-putting about it. It's possible to address your thoughts in a civil manner.

Granted, some people feel hurt about this and feel as though they were 'made to think one thing and given the finger.' But not all of us feel this way. I've stated my thought on this. What they did is better than saying openly that there will be werewolves and then going back and saying 'sorry, there won't be.' And Pete has to walk a thin line as far as questioning goes. His answers are supposed to be vague and inconclusive in a sense. I'm not giving him excuses, but in the end- he's human too. If he did err- it was because of just that. In the end, no one's 'obligated' to do anything. We're not obligated to buy the game no more than they are to explain their features or the lack thereof. I mean, should they have mentioned something? Perhaps. I can concede that point. But everyone has their reasons. No one maliciously acted against anyone in this. We don't know all the facts, agreed?

In time, they might explain their reasoning, or they might not. Or perhaps we just won't care anymore and it'll all be water under the bridge. Just remember the reasons why you do/will like TES. If you're a member of these forums, I'm sure they'll outweigh the negativity of all that's transpired.

Or another scenerio could be...in the 200 years between the last game and this..lycanthropy has all been driven out..Hircine is angry and curses you to infect and bring them back...highly unlikely since you havent been able to infect anyone in previous games...but it is nice to think about what could happen

I'm sorry, when did they ever make you think that werewolves were in the game? They've only refused to comment on it, because, if the Belgian article is to believed, they didn't know whether they'd be able to get it in.

No, Todd said "we want to keep that an open question until the game comes out". If you actually read my original post rather than jump to conclusion, you'd have known that. Logic would dictate that when someone says something like that with a grin on their face, they're looking forward to you finding out on your own. So am I supposed to believe Todd's some kind of sick, sadistic bastard that enjoys sticking it to his fans? No! I honestly did not think werewolves were going to be in the game until seeing hearing that quote. He can turned my predictions on their head with those words and obviously other people got the same impression. You're just one of those stubborn
"I told you so" members who's proud they held onto their beliefs it was never a possibility even though evidence points otherwise.

And if I had to spend my days writing Twitter responses to over-caffeinated [censored], I'd be snippy too.

Then don't tell people you want to use your Twitter account to answer questions if you're just going to be a dike about it.

If I'm buying their damn game and all DLC with it, they have an obligation to not lead me on.

Yeah, they should totally give your hopes up by talking about every possible feature they might add to the game, even if they cannot finish it at the end properly, how horrible people.

Because that's clearly what I'm saying, right? Read my post again more carefully. You don't have the slightest idea of what I'm talking about.

There's no need to be offensive and off-putting about it. It's possible to address your thoughts in a civil manner.

You should be telling that to the other guy.
