Werewolves in Skyrim?

I would personally love to see Werewolves and Vampires make a return.

Oh? Is that why Hircine uses werewolves in his hunts in Bloodmoon instead of werebears? And is that why he hunts alone with werewolves at night in his Realm and werebears hunt with nords during the day?

" "Werewolf!" cried the old bard who had been leading the song. The cellar exploded into chaos.I was pushed out the cellar door into the snow with the first wave of panic, but I could see that some of the more brave (or more drunk) hobos were rushing into the darkness to do battle with the lycanthrope. They were all, of course, almost instantly killed."

Werewolves have that strength as well. We haven't seen any werebears in gameplay, so we have to see how they play like, assuming they are ingame. I just hope Bethesda don't make them overpowered brutes.

Yes, I think werebears would end up being nothing but brutes. I think those West Weald bears in OB were too tough--I imagine a werebear would be at least that strong, if not stronger. I like a good challenge, but that does not appeal to me...

I agree. I never found werebears, or any other werecreature other than werewolves appealing. But we might see Lycanthropy in Skyrim.

"“I can say that… we are fans of that stuff as well, and we are currently messing with all of that. So I don’t want to commit to ‘here are the things you can change into’ and what they’re like right now. Not because we’re not doing it, or not attempting to, I just don’t know, honestly, where that’s going to end up and how deep we’re going to get into that. If you look at the Bloodmoon expansion we did for Morrowind, which is probably the thing that we did that’s closest to Skyrim in some flavor, you know, the main gist of that was you become a werewolf. So, we do have some experience doing that… not too long ago,” Todd Howard.

Werewolves are strong but they are still among the weakest of the Man-beast and Werebears are the strongest. As far as physical strength goes I don't think Werewolves are too far from human limits. Their strength lies in stealth, speed and their razor sharp claws and jaws. I am not sure why Hircine seems to favor Werewolves, perhaps it is because they are the most successful of his children. Regardless, each Werebeast breed has different qualities that admirably reflects Hircin's sphere.

I agree, werebears are so powerful than only the Canis Root(a plant) can scare them off.

Although I whole-heartedly agree with some that Werewolves fit perfectly in this game, it still needs to work (which I'm more sceptical towards). I mean, what about Argonian or Khajiiti werewolves? Or maybe they could be immune and only humans and mer could be affected by it. But that would make some people feel left out, unless they added some other disease that only those two (feral) races were vulnerable to.

Overall, I think it's a great thing if they make it work. Maybe it could work rather nicely if they designed separate effects for each race, so that it'd manifest itself realistically. Argonians could become spiny and feral, and Khajiiti could develop longer claws and a darker fur or whatever. I just think it's a little nonsensical for lizards to grow hair and other canine features. Also, I think it's better if they make it a DLC, because then they can focus ALL their energy on it and make it into a major feature with its own Q-chain and whatnot (unless they already have those resources available without making the rest of the game suffer).

Wonder why werewolves are more successful than werebears if the bears are much more powerful like you said... maybe it has something to do with social habits or eating habits or how aggressive they are : /

Maybe because they end up killing their victims 98% of the time they just cant seem to spread their disease???!

Yep. And let's stop talking about voice overs, fast travel, graphics, Dovakiin and dragons and all the other crap as well.

Lol. I think this is the best idea ANYONE has had on these forums.

I think rats, swords, and orcs should return. Shall I create a poll? I also think there should be sun in the sky during the day time. And snow.

You missed the point. Werewolves ARE coming back. Its not a question. Promise.

When I said we should stop discussing it I was being sarcastic.

Id like for werwolves to return in skyrim and for there to be a moon cycle so you only turn once a month when its a full moon using the in game time system. there should be a average length questline. i think werewolves would fit perfectly in skyrim and if they were included i would defiently play as one

I just want to start off by saying that I love Werewolves as a concept. Very cool RP-element!

But don't you guys remember Oblivion? In Oblivion, being a Vampire was.... lame tbh. It wasn't well-developed at all... instead, it took a backseat to Oblivions many other (Very entertaining) storylines.

I'd say that essential to playing as a Werewolf or a Vampire, would be the opportunity to pursue quests special to being a Werewolf/Vampire and make your mark on those respective communities. Sure... add Werewolves and Vampires, Bethesda... but I do hope that there's more to being a vampire than the "get cured quest"!

i'm not sure but i think this article has confirmed werewolves and vampires are in game :celebration:

"but just imagine even more intricate assassination missions where you have multiple options for how to take out a target (think about the Dark Brotherhood mission where you sneak into a house and loosen a mounted head to fall down once your prey was in position). Throw in a new, optional version of the werewolf/vampire quest line from previous games, and you've got a substantial amount of content that is much more nuanced than your standard quests."

what do you think
