Werewolves&Vampires 7

Post » Sat Aug 28, 2010 11:34 pm

Firstly, sorry lunarwolf if you wanted to start it but I just couldn't wait!

So to get the ball rolling here's a quote from the latest GI podcast; a Q&A with Todd Howard about Skyrim

"Are you able to be a werewolf in Skyrim?

"We're fans of that stuff as well, and we're currently messing with all that. I don't want to commit to, 'here are the things you can change into and what they're like right now.' Not because we're not doing it, or not attempting to. I just don't know honestly where that's going to end up and how deep we're going to get into that.

We will try things, and if we don't feel it's helping the game, there are other areas we'd like to spend our time on in the game."

Yeah sounds pretty good to me. If werewolves aren't in, then they'll probably add it with some knights of the Nine type thing, cause I'm sure adding werewolves can "help the game" as long as they do it right.

I would actually like it (and most of you will probably hate this) if they made the werewolf more of a 3rd person experience. where werewolves could pull off wall jumping moves like in ninja gaiden.

Also, even if my crazy Ninja Gaiden type werewolf thing isn't in, being a werewolf and tearing open your victim should be pretty graphic. I want almost fallout style gore when i'm a werewolf.

Nah, I was only one minute faster, and didn't include the concept art link; so you win. :goodjob:

So, any speculation about vampire "tribes" of Skyrim, or other types of vampire that might be present there? The Volkihar are mentioned as only one of several tribes (at least two, presumably). Or might vampires of Cyrodiil or even Vvardenfell make it to Skyrim?

AhThere's a good chance werewolves are in. And since he said about changing into "things". I'm sure that werebear people are raving about might make it in.

Who would even want werewolves in it? They're mangy mutts. Why would you want to play as one of those?

If Vampires are in I'm pretty sure there will be either Volkihar and Cyrodiil vampires or Volkihar and a new Clan. :)
Of course all three of them would be especially awesome.
I doubt Vvardenfell vampires would ever make it into the game though.

Nah, the ones in Morrowind were blown up haha. No more Quarra, Aundae or Berne. Unless they pulled the same crap those savages did before and fled the province and returning centuries later like they did before.

I don't see how the Cyrodiil vampires can come into the picture, unless bethesda really want them in.

There is no such thing as a "Hot" vampire. Unless ofcourse they are burning in the sun. Lame joke, who cares?

But Werewolves are pretty damn awesome! I like them both, they equally have some sort of awesomeness that surpasses most things I see in the Elder Scrolls.

Hot has a connotation of sixy. In that case, there is a hot vampire. <3 <3

Yes, I know that. Hence why I said my joke was lame. I hope this time around vampires are truly sixy...in Oblivion, we had wrinkles....but they were still seductive.

Well they can be in because:
Gameplay wise: They are easy to put in the game.
Lore Wise: It could be anything from a bunch of Cyrodiil Vampires adventuring to them trying to take out the Volkihar.(bad example, but you get the idea.)

They can do that, they are known to be really competetive individuals. Since the Empire is in turmoil, maybe they went to Skyrim to destroy the Volkihar and manipulate the Nordic population to go pro-Empire to try and make the Empure stronger. Some of them infiltrated politics, or it's implied they should have those careers. I want to turn into a bat! Sure, we get vampires who turn into mist, but why not bats? There should be a turn into bat perk for Cyrodilic vampires, they seem to match Dracula pretty well.

UH OH, why do I see the Edward/Jacob debate going on now? :shocking:

Well if Vampires were done like in Oblivion, I am not so sure if they should be in Skyrim then. Also would you be able to
cure yourself of Vampirism on the PS3?

I don't know, turning into a bat is rather silly, in my opinion...

Of course, if you really like bats, you could use http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Wings_of_the_Queen_of_Bats. :D

Actually that would be one of the most awesome super powers for casual use ever. Unless of course you just turned into mist and dissapated, losing all your ability to control yourself and process thought...

Just as important as being able to be a vampire or werewolf, is to be able to become a vampire or werewolf hunter! Ooooh how I long to get my Van Helsing on with a string of prayer beads about my neck, silver shortsword at my hip, garlic cloves, canis root, holy water and stakes ready to be dispensed at any passerby that so-much as twitches in my general direction... aaaah.

I would also like to see some elements of Daggerfall's lycanthropes and vampires return; damage from holy places, complete immunity to any weapon lower quality than silver, forced transformations on full moons and Hircine's ring, just to name a few. Special perks for furries and nightfolks would also be spectacular. Oh! And who can forget CLOAKS FOR VAMPIRES?! Come on, you've GOT to be able to be a daywalker sometimes! As long as they keep it balanced, maybe making vampires severely weakened in sunlight but not necessarily burning alive, then there shouldn't be any gamebreaking advantages.

It's safe to say that this is the part of the game that excites me the most. :)
