Werewolves&Vampires thread 5

^ But i like the crazy vamps from that game they start with a M I think :D

Malkavian.

And yeah, the World of Darkness/VtM type of vampires would be much better than... those other ones. I'm still mostly hoping for the Volkihar mentioned in TES lore, which I picture as really inhuman, monstrous vampires (more Nosferatu-like).

That was one of the reasons why I got the expansion pack for Morrowind long ago--to become a werewolf. =)

Spoiler
I guess that's why Tharsten Heart-Fang wanted to be in the Bloodmoon expansion, to be a werewolf also.
;)

Werewolves would be my choice, never did care much for vampires in Morrowind and Oblivion.

ya know vampires that are to be expected in skyrim, the morrowind ones similar, are gonna be pretty cool, but i dont really care much for the vamp, i want to be a lich, a werewolf would be cool but totally does not suit my type of character, so i will likely never become one, and i hope everyone knows that the lore of skyrim vampires are not like cirodiil ones, crodiil is the only province of all tamriel that has a vampire that blends into society and will likely not be very fun and could be game breaking, well it would be fun, becoming a werewolf would be better off if you avoided towns after nightfall, but i really hope they add the lich, so this way all player types can look forward to a form of immortality

Hircine just screams, "I'm gonna be in Skyrim" would love to visit his realm as a werewolf, and become a favored Fang :D

Heck yes. I totally see a "Predators" thing going on his Realm. So far, we know Hircine's realm has a single silver moon, a bloody river and a large forest and Savanah climate. Which means there can be jungle and snow climates. Different hunting atmosphere kind of thing.

I think there should be a special bond between werewolves and Hircine. I mean, he does refer to them as "Hounds" in Bloodmoon and "Children" in Daggerfall.

Plus, if you do whst he says, you get a nice doggy treats(Additional powers).

Note: Thisten Heart-Fang is a werewolf, trying to control it with Hircine's ring, which prolonged his life. I wonder if werewolves have prolonged lives as well, due to their supernatural existence.

As for traveling Cyrodiilic vampires. I can see it happening, I mean in Oblivion, Vicente Valtieri became a vampire in Vvardenfell, NOT Cyrodiil. So he's been safely hidden away in the Cheydinhal Sanctuary.

When i'm a were-beast i want to be able to do things i cant do when i'm human, like climb up walls or jump ridiculously far/high. hopefully some werewolf quests given to you as orders from Hircine like ransacking a village with a pack or werewolves.

Yea, we need werewolf packs. Vampires have their own clans right? Why not werewolf packs? We saw them in daggerfall and in Bloodmoon.

I prefer to think of TES. Mainly because underworld implies that they fight each other, whereas they don't really have reason to in TES.

Vamps and werewolves, and lets see a return of the morrowind system on this unless they are going to completely overhaul the way they work. I was never a fan of OB vamps and always moded them I mean drink blood to become weaker epic fail imo

That's correct. Vampyrs and werewolves have feelings and emotions just like ordinary people, except they have a peculiar disease. I also don't like the whole idea that vampyres are against werewolves. I mean, that's more like Hollywood created hype to me. What if two brothers or friends got bitten by each? They wouldn't hate each other while in form. And from playing Daggerfall and Morrowind, you can certainly control what you do. You don't turn into a heartless savage. You just turn into a werecreature that needs to feed on flesh and blood; same for vampyres. In fact, I don't see any reason why a werewolf or a vampyr couldn't live a life shape changed permanently, and run a shop or service, given that they could communicate and go out and feed on bandits and bad folk. Man, wouldn't that be something to see? A werewolf as a smith or a baker or an innkeeper? Not sure how a werebeast could use their hands to work, though. But there isn't anything in lore that says something like that isn't feasible.

So you don't remember the pack of werewolves you had to kill in Skaal Village or the pack inside the Tombs of Skaalara...or the pack in third quest when sided with the Skaal?

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:The_Vanguard

After you have read the letter you have received from the boy, meet the vampire NPC in the town he/she mentioned. He/She will inform you that a group of lycanthropes has infested a local dungeon, which the elders of the vampire bloodline have chosen for a upcoming meeting. You have been given the honor to clear out this dungeon before this meeting takes place. To accomplish this task, you must kill the leader of the pack of lycanthropes, a wereboar. As an evidence that you have killed it, you shall bring back one of its tusks. Once you have been briefed, travel to the dungeon and find the wereboar within. In addition to the random dungeon monster, that are already present, you will be attacked by werewolves from time to time. When the wereboar is dead, you will get a notification. Collect the tusk from its corpse and bring it back to the vampire NPC in time. He/She will be pleased with your work and you may keep the tusk as a trophy. Beside this, you won't get any reward.

Quest Object Dead:
When the lifeless body of the wereboar drops to the ground following message pops up:

You have slain (wereboar's name), the lycanthropes' leader. They will now know better than to trespass in a stronghold of (vampire bloodline).

As much as I love werewolves I chose Vampires don't ask me why however given how Skyrim is I'd say Werewolves are more synonymous with such a setting than a vampire again though I've seen my fair share of accounts of Vampire clans thriving in sub-zero climates like those encountered in Skyrim so in the end I'd say it's a draw or werewolves claiming victory but only by a minute margin.

wereboars in Skyrim? Thought they were only in the Daggerfall and High Rock area. It's the werebears that were mentioned in the only werecreature book, along with wolves, to be in Skyrim.

Any who, I'd totally be a werebear if they're in.

Man, wouldn't that be something to see? A werewolf as a smith or a baker or an innkeeper? Not sure how a werebeast could use their hands to work, though. But there isn't anything in lore that says something like that isn't feasible.

Based on lore, people that turn into werebeasts cannot control their savagery or "wild" side, unless using a magical trinket like Hircine's ring. Vampires and werewolves will always be hunted and feared and shunned because they are predators and people don't like being food for immortal blood-svckers or man-beasts. A vampire(Cyrodilic) can own a shop, be a smith and everything else. Because they look human and they certaintly have control over their bloodlust through Daedric power. "Our bond with Vile steels our savage craving with reason and savvy"-Manifesto

Werewolves are no different, they can own a shop and do things normal people do, but their mind is beffudled somehow, unclear...changed. Both Daggerfall lore and Bloodmoon suggests this. Why else would werewolf NPC be named "Insane Wanderer", "Ravening Lunatic" "Gibbering Moron"?

People who turn into Undead vampires or werewolves aren't normal, even if they wanted to be. They are oddities of what lesser people consider "nature".

Check this out: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Cure_for_Lycanthropy

"You must be (player's name). (hunter's name) said you might be coming to see me, although (he) doubted that you would heed (his) warning. Sadly, most do not, already too befuddled by the Beast within to save themselves"

"As (child's name) drinks your blood, you feel your mind clear for the first time since you were afflicted with lycanthropy. But (child's name) cries out in agony as (he/she) changes form right before your eyes."

Based on Real Life lore on werewolves: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Werewolf

After returning to their human forms, werewolves are usually documented as becoming weak, debilitated and undergoing painful nervous depression.[6] Many historical werewolves were written to have suffered severe melancholia and manic depression, being bitterly conscious of their crimes.[6]

Which is the same case with the father who killed himself in Daggerfall because he was a Lycanthrope.

If you can type all that so well why don't you just use English most of the time? Not to be mean but isn't it against the rules to type in a different language anyways?

The werewolves in Skaal Village were there to get Heart-Fang (like the ones in Fort Frostmoth, that you miss, were there to get Captain Carius). The ones in the Tombs of Skaalara were there to defend the Totem of Claw and Fang. They were sent by Hircine. That's not something they did on their own.

To accomplish this task, you must kill the leader of the pack of lycanthropes, a wereboar.

Interesting. Though I'm not sure it's much different than an ogre-infested cave.. they just happened to be in the same area and not kill each other. Lore, and previous games, don't suggest that someone in beast form has much in the way of cognitive thinking, even with Hircine's Ring. They pack up because they were in the same area and didn't kill each other, or because they were following Hircine's will. I'm still not keen on believing that most lycanthropes would seek each other out, let alone be comfortable being around each other, while in normal form.
