Werewolves&Vampires thread 5

Post » Sun Sep 05, 2010 10:35 am

The werewolves in Skaal Village were there to get Heart-Fang (like the ones in Fort Frostmoth, that you miss, were there to get Captain Carius). The ones in the Tombs of Skaalara were there to defend the Totem of Claw and Fang. They were sent by Hircine. That's not something they did on their own.

Interesting. Though I'm not sure it's much different than an ogre-infested cave.. they just happened to be in the same area and not kill each other. Lore, and previous games, don't suggest that someone in beast form has much in the way of cognitive thinking, even with Hircine's Ring. They pack up because they were in the same area and didn't kill each other, or because they were following Hircine's will. I'm still not keen on believing that most lycanthropes would seek each other out, let alone be comfortable being around each other, while in normal form.

"After you put Hircine's ring on, you will turn into a werewolf for around six hours. You won't suffer from bloodlust"

I mena, if vampires hang out in clans, why not werewolves? The way I see it, Hircine has control over all Lycanthropes(As we have seen in Bloodmoon), but when his divine presence is gone, some Lycanthropes go to a lesser commander or leader, such as a "Alpha" pack leader sort of thing. Like wolves in real life do.

"After you put Hircine's ring on, you will turn into a werewolf for around six hours. You won't suffer from bloodlust"

Yeah, you don't suffer from bloodlust, but you still can't use objects or access your inventory. It's like if you had changed without the ring and killed someone. Your mind is still overtaken by the beast, you just don't have a lust for blood.

I could see werewolves, in beast form, grouping together like ogres would. Sometimes killing each other, sometimes not. But I don't see much communication between them. And grouping together in normal form... well, that's like moving into a village full of known murderers. Murderers who have no control over themselves twice a month. Any hunter worth their salt would recognize such a hive of werewolf activitiy. What kind of place would that be? Not really safe or supportive. I mean, think about it.. if one werewolf has to kill twice a month, then 10 werewolves (kind of on the low side of a "clan" or pack) would be 20 people per month. How is that sustainable for any period of time?

Based on lore, people that turn into werebeasts cannot control their savagery or "wild" side, unless using a magical trinket like Hircine's ring. Vampires and werewolves will always be hunted and feared and shunned because they are predators and people don't like being food for immortal blood-svckers or man-beasts. A vampire(Cyrodilic) can own a shop, be a smith and everything else. Because they look human and they certaintly have control over their bloodlust through Daedric power. "Our bond with Vile steels our savage craving with reason and savvy"-Manifesto

Werewolves are no different, they can own a shop and do things normal people do, but their mind is beffudled somehow, unclear...changed. Both Daggerfall lore and Bloodmoon suggests this. Why else would werewolf NPC be named "Insane Wanderer", "Ravening Lunatic" "Gibbering Moron"?

People who turn into Undead vampires or werewolves aren't normal, even if they wanted to be. They are oddities of what lesser people consider "nature".

Check this out: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Cure_for_Lycanthropy

"You must be (player's name). (hunter's name) said you might be coming to see me, although (he) doubted that you would heed (his) warning. Sadly, most do not, already too befuddled by the Beast within to save themselves"

"As (child's name) drinks your blood, you feel your mind clear for the first time since you were afflicted with lycanthropy. But (child's name) cries out in agony as (he/she) changes form right before your eyes."

Based on Real Life lore on werewolves: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Werewolf

After returning to their human forms, werewolves are usually documented as becoming weak, debilitated and undergoing painful nervous depression.[6] Many historical werewolves were written to have suffered severe melancholia and manic depression, being bitterly conscious of their crimes.[6]

Which is the same case with the father who killed himself in Daggerfall because he was a Lycanthrope.
Wow, I've been playing Daggerfall for 14 years now and I don't remember embarking on that quest. That was a good read. Thanks.

Why is there a Wereboar option, but not a Werebear option? Wereboars don't belong in Skyrim. :cryvaultboy:

Will you pick to become either one of those two? (No other were-creatures ability to become one unless it is confirmed by devs and these 2 seem the best pick to be ingame)
Werewolves (46 votes [59.74%])
Vampires (30 votes [38.96%])
Wereboar (1 votes [1.30%])

confirmed by devs and these 2 seem the best pick to be ingame
Wereboar

Dude... wait, what?

There's been no confirmation on either vampires or werewolves/bears in the game. The only creature along these lines we do know is in the game is something called a "were-yeti" sounds cool but it's still not my werewolf

Ok so I know in thread 6 that if i put werebear option than everyone would want something else than the title will cahnge so unless YOU want to make the threads than you can but for now after this it is just staying Werewolves&Vampires, not even "Other" you might be able to turn into a werebear or wereboar in the game, we dont know yet but untill we do this is about the most popular creatures

no seriously- sort your original post out :brokencomputer:

poll should look like this

creatures
vampires
ice/skyrim vampires
werewolves
werebears
wereboars
other werecreatures
nothing

hybrids
MANBEARPIG
a vampire werewolf would be fine
no hybrids at all

effects on gameplay
major bonuses, major problems
minor bonuses, minor problems

then the post should look like this

(short into telling bethesda how werecreatures/vampires belong in skyrim)

(stuff about how each creature in the poll fits into skyrim)

(links to the other threads)

Why is there no werebear option in your poll? The werebear is a much more likely candidate than any other were-creature considering the fact that The Elder Scrolls V is set in Skyrim. Read On Lycanthropy. Also, in a previous thread, somebody pointed out a detail that I failed to notice: In one piece of concept art, a warrior can be seen cautiously approaching the carcass of a mammoth with what appears to be a bear standing over it. But if you look closely, the bear looks to have clawed hands or talons instead of paws. Is it a werebear or just a mistake made by the artist? Hmmm.... And besides, who wouldn't want to play as a ten foot tall death machine?

I'm almost 100% sure that Skyrim will have werecreatures, especially werewolves. Werebears seems likely too, mainly because of the book http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:On_Lycanthropy,

but also because of the http://media1.gameinformer.com/imagefeed/featured/bethesda/elderscrolls/elderscrollsv/bear610ed.jpg. Just look at the bear's stance, claws and teet. Definitely not a normal bear.

It is a normal bear, Bears stand on their hind legs in real life, man people don't know anything about wildlife. :shakehead:

I only added it to try and shut up a certain user but as we can tell he has not stopped, ima just gonna add those 2 from now on since this thread is NOT called

"What creature would you like to be in Skyrim?"
I'm talking to you jack254

well then, foolish manbearpig hatter

why have you put werewolves on there? is it not simple logic that if you do not want to talk of specific creatures then you should have a choice of two things- vampires and werecreatures

still thinking i could have made a better thread

you know this wereboar crap has to be the stupidest thing ive ever heard of in my entire life, seriously, if i saw a man and he transformed into a boar, i would probably get killed by it because i would be lying down on the ground with stomache pains from laughing harder than ive ever laughed before, seriously, if people think they have a better chance of getting a wereboar instead of a lich, like i have suggested before on another thread, i dont know what the world is coming to, hell lets create the biggest baddest bearded viking, and put a top hat on him followed by a pink toutou and actually make a poll about it, and lets see the results, GET REAL :swear:

EDIT: and i think there is a likely chance of getting the lycan, and almost certainty of the vampire, and i truly think theres a small chance of the lich, which would make sense and feel right, your stupid wereboar idea, i well, lets say this if by some miracle it does get into the game with vampires and werewolves and they add a wereboar and not a lich, i will completely lose faith in videogames for the rest of my life and could probably just never play them again because the day people stop making amazing games is the day i give up, i mean WHY a wereboar??? thats unheard of, why not a were bear? that would be just as cool as a werewolf, and not stupid, i mean i use to love finding boars to kill on oblivion, id run up and cut some bacon off there back

EDIT: apologies! i have just recently researched this wereboar, and discovered it was from daggarfall, but it is still a useless idea, i would never and i mean never waste my time in a fabulous looking game, trying to find a way to turn into a stupid pig man, if i want to be a pig i would just choose a orc, so lets just hope for some thing better like werewolf vampire and a lich those three would make quite a nice trio, and not other were-creatures lets keep the imagination of this game well within respective boundaries.

-SNIP-

Ganon will hunt you in your dreams, boar hater. He will hunt you in your NIGHTMARES.

And besides, a BOAR (not a pig, a boar, you know, there is a differance?) does look a bit intimidating on its own, so seeing a hybrid would be no laughting matter I assure you. Werepig, may be, but wereboar? HELL NO.

Also, I would like to see some modifications to werebeast as well: for example willpower will have an impact on bloodlust and overall transformation, meaning someone with hight willpower would not only be able to NOT kill anyone and live, but also able to force-stop the transformation and start in whenever he likes, be it day or night. Also, after ,,taking controll'' of the transformation process the character would be able to use his inventory, and in return wear armor like the beast races (we still dont know how they ware sorted thought, it would be eather armor automaticly fits the character model, or he needs a specific armor to wear). And I know, lore, but it can always be modified by Beth, its theyr world no?

Thats my idea, what do you think?

Agreed!

I didn't know who the Lich were tho, so I reasesched them and I must say, I would love them in Skyrim. Being a Dumer who abandond the ways of Magic for the study of Nercromancy and on that path finding a Spell that would make you one with death, yet not dead, sounds great to me.

Das ist richtig!!!! Vampyrs und Werw?lfe k?nnen freundlich und haben Emotionen und Gefühle. Immerhin sind sie Menschen wie du und ich, au?er dass sie eine Krankheit haben.

I don't see how it's against the rules though.

Because it's rude to the readers who don't speak German, and difficult for the moderators to follow threads in multiple languages. Please only post in English - there are German boards elsewhere on the internet.

As to everyone bickering, please don't put yourselves into the position whereby you have to explain to your friends that you got banned from an internet forum for trolling/flaming in a thread about fictional and occasionally ridiculous hybrids on a forum about pixellated elves.

Providing they have friends....

/sarcasm end

I never was a fan of wereboars, mainly because to me they seem the prey rather than the hunters. And Hircine is all about hunting.

This thread is about Werewolves&Vampires and how they might be added into Skyrim, it is not about any other were-creature or creature in general.
If you want to make another thread than go ahead but than that will just ruin this one's strick and it seems everyone loves these threads anyways atleast from what I have heard in past Werewolves&Vampire threads.

But, that makes no sense. Wereboars aren't even native to Skyrim, as opposed to Werebears.
Just saying.
If anything Werebears will be the most common Werecreatures in Skyrim(if Werecreatures are included at all.)
