Heh, it's ironic, topics on voice acting seem to suffer from a horrible dual-personality disorder
. A whole bunch of posts say 'no famous voice actors, they're too expensive, just use good voice actors', and a whole other bunch seem to be 'we're tired of the good voice actors they used before, get some famous voices'. Bethesda are damned if they do, damned if they don't .
Incidentally, a comment directed at anyone who say's something along the lines of 'so-and-so's voice svcked in whichever game'... please try to remember that the voice actors don't just come out with whatever they feel like, and Bethesda are helplessly compelled to put up with it. Bethesda's voice director (Todd Howard, a quest designer or whoever) tell the voice actor how they want the voice done, the voice actor does what he/she thinks they're asking for, and then the director says either that it's right or that they actually meant something different. The point being, it's down to the director to get the voice they want. Lot's of people complained bitterly about all the Breton's in Morrowind having the same fussy old-man voice, and blamed it on the actor (Wes Johnson), forgetting that that's what Bethesda
asked for.
So if the voice for a race in Oblivion wasn't what you liked, please don't just blame the voice actor for doing a horrible job or having a bad voice.
