West coast Vs East coast

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 1:10 am

(Well, i voted East, we need a little change from the fact we had three major games out west, now we need more done in the east, and maybe in the midwest as well.)

The East, because there's still so much more to discover and learn about it. In Fallout 3 Bethesda gave us a taste of a larger world functioning in the background. The Pitt, Ronto, and the Commonwealth are all indications there's a lot of interesting stuff going on north of the Capital Wasteland, and I want to experience that. Until I do, I enjoy the sense of mystery that wanting to know more provides. I like the West, but we already know so much about it. There's not a lot of mystery left, and I can't say I prefer what we know is out West to all the possibilities in the East.

This.

Exactly what I was thinking.

what are the parameters of east and west for our needs anyway?

cause i wouldnt think of toronoto being east off the bat.. sure its the eastern half of canda, but i would concider it "great lakes" first and foremost.

Definitely west coast. I've been to Vegas (only a short stop over on my way to Texas) but yeah, flying over it I got to see a good amount of the desert. Pretty neat stuff when you've never seen anything like it before.

The desert is actually a really beautiful place.. its not just sand and isolation.. if youve never roadtripped across the american southwest, i strongly encourage it.
one of the amzing things is just how different desert reigons are.

I generally think of the eastern border of the "West" as the eastern edge of Colorado/ Caesar's Legion. I think of anything east of Chicago/ Michigan as the "East," and everything in-between as the Midwest. It's far from being geographically accurate but it's accurate in terms of the regions of the Fallout world.

I liked the east coast, like in FO3. Mainly because I recognized a lot of the places, it added extra creepiness IMO.

Same, I live less than an hour away and Fallout 3 really struck me when I first played.

On the other hand I was born in California and do remember some of the locations in Fallout and Fallout 2. I also took a trip to Las Vegas for Thanksgiving (lol). I was pretty surprised how well they did things, not distance wise of course but you know... it was cool.

All I have to do is make a trip to Chicago :P

All in all I must say i like the west coast a tad bit better just because it actually makes sense, aka events/plots/time. But Fallout 3 is one hell of a game, really well done for a rand.

Decision: West Coast

I any thing is added I want more buildings there was a certain feel about walking around mainstreets with only your rifle for company as huge husks of biuldings stare down at you. Also if it could have more legion (I don't really like fighting with them but the back story seemed intresting) and if it was in the east some where it would be even better.

No Mid-West, poll is completely racist.

If you've ever wandered the desert in the Middle East you'd really begin to appreciate it, it's even more beautiful there. :)

I am certain it is.
i was looking at sites like petra yesterday.. it amazes me t hat even in such a harsh landscape oasises like this were built..

i grew up in the four corners area, so i had the desert as my back yard..
Drove from California to Missouri this last summer, first time i had really been through that area in years.
beattiful, and completely varying from El Centro until the second half of Texas, where it becomes farmland.

Mid-west is considered to be the location of Fallout Tactics which is Chicago by Fallout Standards, Brotherhood of Steel has taken place in Texas therefore your comment is false.

Say yes to racist polls.

No, but the game did indeed take place in Texas.

i find most of the canon/lore that people spout on about to be full of holes, so i do love mocking it.

IMO A video game like fo is way better off in major eastern cities for awhile. mw was really pretty boring IMO. The game is good im not upset that i bought it,but city ruins are much more interesting than open desert for pure game play for many reasons. I understand that the series all started in the west and we have to go back there, but Bethesda did a great job of creating a half destroyed DC area. I feel they can do they same with the NYC area Philly or Atlanta. IMO Then we really need to see some more of the world. See how bad London, Paris and China r. The sky is the limit for this series. One of the greatest most interesting game plots maybe the best.

I vastly prefer the East Coast, mainly because of New Vegas. The "theme" in NV, country-western casino motif and all, just irked me to no end. The east coast and Fallout 3, on the other hand, is an outright warzone. There's no constant barrage of smoky rooms filled with slot machines and roulette wheels with the most annoying music known to man droning out of every radio and speaker.

The factions in the East just seem more real and thought out to me. NCR is well done, but Caesar's Legion is a giant WTF from my standpoint. And the Ghouls at the REPCON facility, argh! Make it stop!

As opposed to wannabe vampires and giant spaceships with 1950' style aliens?
