West coast Vs East coast

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 5:11 am

I was playing new Vegas and I noticed how developed the west actually was in that game its been forever since I played Fallout 2 but I dont remember it being that civilized. After looking at fallout 3 I like how savage every thing felt compared to the mojave I just wanted to know how every one else felt.

Damn you put an other option lol

The West is a better setting imo. Fallout, things were starting to happen again. The years of "quiet darkness" had ended. People started rebuilding, farming and learning. Fallout 2 Factions started to expand. New Vegas, has just one faction in the West which is NCR but now NCR has to deal with the Legion and its own growing pains.

Midwest, there was some development. Tactics takes place between Fallout and Fallout 2.

Fallout 3 there was no development in 200 years and no plant life. So for me it was unrealistic.

Being an East Coast guy (and a fan of Fallout 3), and not being much of a fan of the West Coast (but still a fan of New Vegas), I kinda have no option but to vote East Coast.

The west. But I think New Vegas will be used to just close off that part of the series for a while. I don't think the setting of the east makes sence especially not because Bethesda made it like way too far in the future.

Well there was some tasty punga fruit in PL but i agree that it was silly the lack of vegetation.

Did I miss a Fallout Alaska? If your talking about the DLC that was set before the bombs fell so it really isn't a Fallout setting. Out of West Coast vs East Coast? I enjoyed West Coast more felt more alive the East had better dungeon crawling but West actually seems like it's trying to function again.

I liked the east coast, like in FO3. Mainly because I recognized a lot of the places, it added extra creepiness IMO.

Maybe try reading. Hes asking what you think is the best setting for Fallout not which is the best weve been to so far.

Maybe you should try reading I answered his question.. I said West Coast. More plant life then Fallout 3 and felt more like they were trying to function (farms). I'm not going to base the settings of the environment off a Fallout game we haven't played so of course I'm going to base it off of Fallouts we've played.

It was pretty civilized in Fallout 2, I remember. There was Shady Sands (NCR) and Vault City, pretty technological and civilized. I'd say New Reno is civilized, even though they live in the ruins of the old world and are all scum, unlike Vault City and who built their cities themselves (though may still be scum). The mining towns would be something aswell. Then at the same time, there were many tribals who lives in tents or caves, believed in magic and whatnot, and since you are a tribal in Fallout 2, "civilized" people comment you alot. So realistically, since there was great progress between F1 and F2, there would of course be more progress between F2 and FNV. Of course, FNV is taking place on the frontline of the expanding NCR, if we got a look today at Shady Sands, that would have been nothing like F3's most advanced city of... Rivet City... then there was this pre-war guy who woke up and had control of a lot of robots, before him there were just tribals fighting over the city. So if we'd seen anything from before that, it would've been a bit closer to F3, though still far away from it, F3 is still a bit unrealistic (yeah yeah, realism in a game like Fallout) with that everything is dead and burnt-out and there are just crappy settlements and no growing food or managing cattle anywhere, so...

I seem to remember a lot of encounters in the wasteland where humanoids tried to kill me.
Just cause cities and towns maybe be civilized does not mean the west coast is entirely civilized.

The west is tons more realistic from what we've seen, plus I prefer the west IRL. Deserts are sick. I love them as a Fallout setting and am not sick of them.

The west coast has a better story thus far, so I'm going to have to go with that one.

The East, because there's still so much more to discover and learn about it. In Fallout 3 Bethesda gave us a taste of a larger world functioning in the background. The Pitt, Ronto, and the Commonwealth are all indications there's a lot of interesting stuff going on north of the Capital Wasteland, and I want to experience that. Until I do, I enjoy the sense of mystery that wanting to know more provides. I like the West, but we already know so much about it. There's not a lot of mystery left, and I can't say I prefer what we know is out West to all the possibilities in the East.

West Coast all the way. As of right now the East Coast has far too many factions and creatures copied from the West and serious inconsistencies in design to be the better setting.

Nothing inherently wrong with the region though it's just Bethesda hasn't really done much with it yet.

There are only two factions that 'copied' the west coast (they just sent them to the east coast) and their are four brand new possibly major factions (the Pitt, Ronto, the Commonwealth, and Talon Company). There is only Washington and maybe some parts of Oregon that were not explored, it would make a great game but should be in either another spin-off or F5.

Exactly why it'd be a good setting.
