Post » Tue May 17, 2011 6:37 am

I was just looking at some of the wrinkled old faces, and then I recalled you were working on this..back in the day! I've just found the tentative releases you've done and nabbed them and really to install. They all look stunning! Really looking forward to the day when the complete head replacement is done - sign me up for the release! =D

Yes, those are the current releases; he's working on Wood Elves and Redguards right now. Then will come Dunmer and Imperials.

Good heads but the High Elf race, though beautiful textured, is racially wrong. High Elves have always had long heads which gave them that dignified "intellectual" look. You made them all have rounded heads just like the Altmer elves. In fact, one of your High Elf just look downright asian though the texture is really astonishing.

Lorca, Westly made a seperate version of his Altmer replacer using the original head meshes. You can download it http://www.4shared.com/file/148166392/28c6e92b/High-Rez_High_Elf_Face_Textures_Original_Mesh_Version.html and there's one for Orcs http://www.4shared.com/file/158402777/5d636b2c/High-Rez_Orc_Heads_and_Hairs_O.html as well.

You think that Wood Elves look intellectual and dignified? You've got to be kidding me.

Other than that, same rules apply for Wood Elves. Westly made meshes that are VERY close to the original ones, but he also made versions of his heads that are based on the vanilla meshes.

Lmao, no I was talking about the High elves. I made a mistake before refering the Wood elves as "Altmer".

As it's been a couple months since the last update, can I ask how things are going? It feels like everything's so close, with just the Imperials and Dunmeri to go...

Hiya Westly. Awesome job there! I'm loving the detail! I wonder what they'll look like bump mapped :D.

But that aside, I can't bring myself to take off http://www.fileplanet.com/125595/120000/fileinfo/Morrowind-Faces-Compilation-v1 facepack, I love the npc's and meshes in it too much. Especially since Caius Cossades looks like Sean Connary, A.K.A. James Bond. Which couldn't be more fitting.

So why don't you take a loot at them and see if you can incorporate some hi-res versions. I think you'll like what the various authors did with it.

Since Westly's heads are pluginless, I don't think they'd actually replace your facepack at all, which presumably uses esps to give specific heads to those NPCs.

So I've downloaded the High Elves on origional meshes. Is that all there is for download out of the origional mesh makeovers? I've only managed to find 2 download links in your threads. How are the Dark Elf heads coming along? They were supposed to be after the Redguards right? Can't wait to see them!

I'm loading up a new game and remembered this amazing WIP. I have the Nords, Orcs, Bretons, and Altmer. Any progress on the other races?

Slow going with this, but I am still working on it. I had a rainy day off today, so I
modded a small amount (returning my attention to the Redguards and Wood Elves
so that I can finally release them). I am still having trouble finding a hairstyle for one
that is shared by the Redguards (at least finding one that I like that would match, so I
might just have to take a bit more poetic licensce with it than I would have liked). Else,
they are complete (save for adjusting the hairs to fit on the original Wood Elf meshes, but
the new ones fit with the hairs just fine ATM).

To keep a'rollin' along, here is a peek at the Wood Elf vamps...

More to come (in between school, work, second work, and my family, that is ;) ).

Yay! :celebration:

Out of curiosity, is http://uesp.net/wiki/File:MW-NPCs-Elone.jpg the hairstyle you're struggling with? I'm assuming that it is, since you said "shared" (and I assume that means both males and females use it). If so, Illy's Redguards uses a hair model that might work (shown http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/1456/redguard.jpg on a Redguard female for comparison to the first picture).

That's the style (though struggle might be the wrong word choice; more like a dilemma of choice, really); I use the same mesh that Illy uses in my Master Headpack as well as for the Redguard Fade that I have shown previously in this thread (Sonya's Conversion of Mylochka's Star Trek hairs ;) ). I am going to stick to a more full style, as there are already styles that I am using for the females that are short/close to the head (so a full style would be best to not only mimic the original style, but to keep a diverity among the design silhouettes available :D ). I have one that I want to use for the females at this point (so no real worries), but the male one would have to be different entirely at this point than the female counterpart. No worries, though.

Alright. I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with, as that's my favorite Redguard style. I was always disappointed with how Vvardenfell Visages represented it :nono:

I had a same dilemma with one of the original wood elf male hairs; so, I just took the original mesh duplicated it at different sizes and added an alpha channel to the new texture (so that it looks a bit more like hair and less like an insect abdomen affixed to the head [though it does make a nice helm mesh for something else I am working on ;) ]).

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g235/Wesadam/Mod%20Head%20Packs/WOODELF_HAIR_04a.jpg

The solution is not as simple for the Redguard hair, though, as the UV on that one is a real mess (as far as giving it a specific texture that I am inclined to cobble). So, I'll narrow my choices down as I am able and hopefully get these released soon.

I gave the original mesh another go; this time, I did something similar as to what I did with the Wood Elf hair above; I duplicated the mesh and rotated it many times and tilted it at different angles. The result is another Fro type style (more natural than combed) that I think matches up with the original while still having a new quality (I hope).

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g235/Wesadam/Mod%20Head%20Packs/WAR_Assymetric_Fro.jpg

I'll add a few more layers to it and add a "cap" to the main part so that all the random naked bits of flesh that might be exposed will be covered (like on the sides of the face and so on); its a bit "Sideshow Bob" at the moment, so the extra layers will hopefully add some added thickness and fullness that will avoid the comparison).

'Til Later (off to Dreamland for me, I suppose)

Looks great, my only request is could you make it more brownish (more like the original)? If not, it's easily something I can do in my own game :)
