[WIPz] Westly's Head Replacers (still working on a better ti

http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1057651-wipz-westlys-head-replacers-still-working-on-a-better-title/

I thought I would go ahead and make a WIP thread for this, as it has been quite a while since my
last headpack thread was locked. This project seeks to replace most of the NPCs in Vvardenfell with
unique faces while still being compatible with any pluginless replacer that might be floating around or
yet to come. Many of the heads from my previous head packs will be recieving "face-lifts" (specifically
scheduled for drastic change are many of the tattooed Dunmer faces, my Breton females, Imperial females,
High Elves [male and female], and all of the Orc faces [will be come more "orcy"]). All of the previous
textures will see some form of change though. so if you have a real favourite, back that texture up as
a new file with its corresponding head). In addition to the new heads, there will also be many, many new
hairs (incorporating the Corean hairs as well as a great number hairs previously unreleased that I have
been converting and cobbling together like a mad man :D ).

Now, bear in mind, this is a long term project for me (two years working on it is seems). So do not expect
an overnight release as I want to get these just right.

ATM (or rather several months ago), I began working on the Redguard males that appear in Morrowind
(sans expansions). Here is a look at the heads that I have so far (but have many more waitng in the
wings to be cobbled). Many of these make use of previously unused head meshes that are, perhaps,
better suited for Redguards than I have used in my other packs:

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/g235/Wesadam/Mod%20Head%20Packs/WAR_xRG_HDS_GRP1.jpg

I hope to keep working on this all the while I am making other mods. As I understand my limitations, though
, and for the sake of gettting the mod finished for all those who are waiting, I might be inclined to
recruit a team to take on some of the "work" (by dividing the heads up racially among the team with
one person focusing on a specific race rather than trying to bounce from race to race). This is just a
thought ATM, as right now I am probably not close to implement such a team effort (and am
happy to do most of the tedium myself right now, so no worries).

'Til Next Update (might be a while, though ;) )

UPDATE Tuesday, October 20, 2009
I am working on a pluginless replacer as a base ATM (that will stay very true to the look of the original heads, but at higher resolution with extra details added based on the "Original Heads Revamped" from my MHP, but taken to a better level). So, essentially, they are "REvamped-Revamped". I will release these in a modular fashion 'til all of the stock heads are replaced (including the expansions). Then I will bundle them all together in one download for eas of use and access. The heads, when finished, will be OK to use in mods :) .

First up, the Bretons (with the original Bethesda heads on the left for comparison):

UPDATE Friday, November 06, 2009
I am almost finished with the High Elves (the vampire heads are the only
thing left to cobble). Here are a few in-game pics of some of the High
Elf heads and hairs on respective NPCs:

UPDATE Wednesday, November 11, 2009
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/g235/Wesadam/Mod%20Head%20Packs/NORDF_Before_After.jpg

Again, I used the original stock textures as a base for the
new versions; I gotta say, though, the original textures, by
themselves, look little like they do when they ended up on
the original meshes :).

I'll bundle the Orcs with the Nords (when I get 'round to 'em)

UPDATE Wednesday, November 18, 2009
I started on the Orcs [Females] tonight (well most of the afternoon really while I was
waiting for a kiln to finish firing). With these, I had to basically start from scratch, using
the originals for inspiration (as to the placement of scars, highlights, etc). Ultimately,
though, these look like "my style" orcs (if that means anything), though still have the
intrinsic feel of the originals if one looks closely with an open nature without trying to be
too critical (as I like them, so surely others will as well). But don't worry, I'll do the same
for these as I did with the High Elves and relase the new textures on the original meshes
(for those that like their Orc females with and elongated/horsey-type face ;) ).

Anyway, here is a screen of the first Orc Female face:

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/g235/Wesadam/Mod%20Head%20Packs/WAR_ORC_F01_1.jpg

Now that I more or less have all the base layers for the Orcs females, all of the Orc females
from my previous packs will recive makeovers (to give them a bit of gruffness overlayed ontop
of their femininity; beauty within the beast, if you will).

UPDATE Saturday, November 21, 2009
I have finished up the Orc heads to my satisfaction (mostly. I think). I still have the vampire heads
to address as well as the hair choices. I hope that I have these finished before next week
(if I do not it might be a while before I am able to finish due to the compounded Holiday Season).
Nevertheless, I will continue to do my best to get these released in a time appropriate manner :) .
That said, here is a look at the heads as well as the one hair that I have completed thus far:

I apologise if some of the pics are not showing, as there seems to be
something wrong with PhotoBucket ATM; hopefully it is just a temporary
glitch that will soon be solved.

So how's that title coming along? :whistling:

I really like the old redguard woman face. It's nice to have a face so different from the others, who look like they're all more or less equally old...

All the orcs are also very, very well done.

I'm also having issues with the screenshot links now. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.

edit: Ah. I don't know why, but for the links changing all the http://i57.photobucket.com/ links to http://i18.photobucket.com fixes the problem for me.

So that should be a good temporary fix.

Thanks, Povhulo; I changed all the 57's to 18's so all the image links
should be working now (but I am still unable to access my PB page,
so a big  there)

Ah well, it will all be fine in the end; if its not fine, then its not the end :D.

They're probably just shifting the images to a new server, is my guess. That's probably why they changed their format to discourage direct linking, as previously all of a user's pics would reside on the same server.

The images in this thread are currently working for me, but not in the other thread. Everything looks good as always. :) I like the idea of having eyes UV Mapped separately; that's one thing I've always appreciated about Poser and have been frustrated with when doing textures in Morrowind. :(

Still looking fantastic! Great work -- one of the replacers that I'm greatly looking forward to.

What's wrong with the current title? It pretty much states exactly what the mod does.

Or if you really want to change it, maybe "Westly's Original Head Replacers"

Original as in literally the heads from the original game, not totally unique like Better Heads or whatever.

How about calling it Westly's Wonderful World (WWW)?

Although it doesn't represent exactly what the mod does, I think it does reflect it well. If all the faces in the world are truly well made then it would indeed be wonderful.

Westly's Original Heads Overtly Overhauled: WOHOO!

I vote for this one. :D

By the way, I also think it's important to have at least one face for old characters, but the one for Redguard females doesn't really strike me as "old". To me, it still looks like a very young woman, only with a strange skin... it is smooth AND wrinkly at the same time. Maybe it would look more like an old woman if you made the wrinkles more pronounced, similar to what they did in Fallout 3, where old people have massive canyons in their faces. ^_^
Age spots would help, too. And eyes that look more weary.

Good point. I don't know what the dunmer are going to look like but it would be pretty weird if all the Ashlander wise women looked like young girls...

No worries; its easy enough to "turn up the old" in
a face (that's the beauty of homespun filters and layers)...

http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/g235/Wesadam/Mod%20Head%20Packs/WAR_RGx_Older01a.jpg

This is the same texture as before just with the
older features enhanced (though I liked my other
texture just fine, but if people want more old, then
I have no problem obliging :) ).

And don't stress about the Dunmer; they will look
as they look (no more, no less; well maybe a bit more ;) )

Its working for me, so it must not be all of their servers (and all my links that were not working before work again :woot: ).

EDIT: I changed the link as I did before (57 to 18), just to be safe (even though the link was working fine on my end, I want to make sure it works for everyone ;) )

Good, because I don't particularly care for the Dunmer faces VV uses and replaced them with some of Emma's. I'd rather use these, though, since they're more closer to the original. Good work as always, Westly.

The older redguard looks awesome but the only thing is that since there are so few options for Redguards faces it might end up as the face of some sweet voiced NPc with a kindly old lady looks
BTW Love the hi res eyes, maybe something as extrem as that could work for vampires besides the dead eye look?

That looks great! Thank you very much for obliging. ^_^

I'm very curious about the Dunmer faces. For the Bosmer, I'm already pretty sure that I'll use the original meshes instead of the new ones, because they look more like what I imagine elves to look like. But for the Altmer, you made these cool smoothed original meshes which are even better.

Your work is astoundingly beautiful Westly, I can't wait - and this is from someone who already has all your released heads!

I wonder if you would consider making the dreadlock hairstyle (from your orc females) available to Nord females. My Nord has been eying it enviously for some time now.
