What about Dwarves!?!

Post » Sat Jul 30, 2011 5:17 am

... and what's wrong with calling them dwarves, they were around the size of a Bosmer anyway...

Nope, they were around the same height as Altmers.

I dunno. In-game sprites of the ghosts seemed around the height of imperials.

man, when i read the title of this thread i cringed for the op
i could feel the heat from the pointless flaming before i even opened the link
but then again, the op probably shouldve looked up the topic to see the 1000 other flame fests and spared themselves the trouble

and to the op
dwemer are 'extinct' (kinda)
thats why they never show up
here you go: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Dwemer

Post above, its not pointless when someone comes in and Screams Dwarves and says bring them back when they don't know diddly squidly about them in the first place, if your going to Request anything about Dwemer atleast learn about them first.

Plz, let's not start a lore argument because it will be several million pages long and i actually want to do something other than that for the day. The Dwemer believed that they were naturally immortal but had that "birthright" taken away and that it was their destiny to retake it, using Lorkhan's heart. I can't remember off the top of my head but i believed after the war between the Chimer and the Dwemer, the six councils along with Dagoth Ur(Although named differently before this name, can't remember) used the tools of Lorkhan or something similar to stop the Dwemer from achieving immortality. Just read the Wiki linked before, it's most certainly more accurate

Wow where to begin

ok first off pretty much ALL elves mostly Altmer believed that, the Dwemer did not, the Dwemer like the Aedra believed Nirn to be a Prison, the Houses did not touch the Tools muchless new about the heart the Dwemer (a Secret Sect in the Dwemer), the Tribunal and Dagoth Ur afterwards are the only people who knew about the Tools and they (Tribunal and Dagoth ur) don't even know what happened, Wiki is hardly a place to go for such things.

I did not know that a misunderstamding that the dwemer adjective was dwarven would start so much commotion. I found my answer in the first reply but found myself reading the history of the Dwemer and something about pitchforks and trolls. If it makes you happy i have learned not to confuse dwemer and dwarves and learned that they are dead. Sorry for wasting your time

The correct term would be dwemeri.

they were more "Mesopotamia" based (check beard) and not actually "dwarves" they were not short like in LotR

it would be cool if they return some how because no one really knows what happened to them when the Heart of GOD was touched by their high mage guy which I can't remember his name.

Yeah i suppose i shouldn't have tried to originally correct someone else's thing while saying that i didn't want to get into a discussion. In any end, i was just giving a very, VERY cursory explanation and i understand you are correct.

Its not that we're bring pricks, and by the way Im sorry your precious Id was damaged by Words your reading on a screen from a person that might as well not exist, my deepest apologies(No not you Jstee, the guy named M or whatever). but its people like I said, don't know a thing about Dwemer it seems, saying bring back the Dwarves as if they were ever around in the first place. then it makes you wonder "what are they talking about Ruins?" of which you have to wonder where they have been for the past year if their talking about Dwemer ruins, compounded by the fact that -IF- your talking about Dwemer then the excuse of "I don't know much about the game" goes out the window.

Plus the 500 threads on the Word Dwemer/Dwarves with the same responses etc etc

yes you kinda need to be blunt and straight to the point, again apologies if such words damaged the ego.

Oblivion did alot of things wrong, even when the cannotation of Calling in dawrven in oblivion was correct because Imperials are ignorant like that.

Generic Dwemer have appeared in their ruins in the past, and considering that Dwemer ruins are reconfirmed for Skyrim, they're likely to appear there too.

Only probably dead again.

I have deleted a lot of rude and elitist posts. Now I am going to look through them to see I have to contact.

It would be nice to get a bit more information from the devs about the disappearance of the Dwarves, but no real answers - this can run for a couple of more TES games yet. :)

We have a real answer.

The Dwemer are a closed case. And now that the Tribunal, the Heart, Akulakhan and Anumidum are all gone, their story is over.

They had it labeled that way in Daggerfall too. Some MW fans just get overly defensive and think the only right way is the Morrowind way. I don't get it personally.

In Daggerfall it was dwarven as well. Sorry bud but it's commonly referred to as dwarven. Morrowind might have called it Dwemer, but that's about it. When speaking of their weapons and armor anyways. Seems that Morrowind did that wrong in this case.

Since this is Skyrim, I doubt the Nords would refer to the Dwemer as Dwemer. They'll probably call 'em dwarves.

Um....yeah thats my point, outside Morrowind people are ignorant, and call them Dwarves......Im not even going to comment on how the Homeland of the Dwemer got it wrong :teehee: my idjit on Oblivion taking it wrong was, people don't even talk about Dwemer much in Oblivion, it doesnt even rectify that unless you read the books (which im not sure of, I think everything Dwemer in Oblivion is called Dwarves, for no reason) people coming in are going to Think "DWARVES :teehee:" and people familiar with it are going to facepalm, hence this thread and its many many cousins

Point and case, your gonna talk about Dwemer, atleast know about Dwemer, is that so wrong of me to say :sadvaultboy:

The nords were around when the Dwemer where at their Height, The Nords Warred with the Dwemer, The NORD BOOK ABOUT REDMOUNTAIN calles them Dwemer and only uses Dwarves when stating Dumac the Dwarf King, their are Dwemer Ruins in Skyrim.....Why would they call them Dwarves when having such an extensive history with them?

It just seems wrong to imply that Oblivion got it wrong by calling their equipment Dwarven. The Devs made it that way, as they did in Daggerfall. It's obviously not incorrect to refer to them that way in the forums. So idk, I kinda see you saying all of this as slightly quarrelsome.

It's the nubes right to think they are dwarves (in the Tolkien sense) because they aren't familiar with the lore. They're not idiots because of it..
