What about new raiders and mercenaries in Boston?

Post » Sun Mar 20, 2016 1:13 am

What's the problem with the uniforms it's a videogame.

Although there is need for a touch of realism. We must remember that this world is purely fictional. My suggestion is only about to give more immersive for our exploration and quests.

Consider one of the key parts of the word immersive is believability, wouldn't actually the kind of subtle raiders we see now be more immersive then the caroonish raiders of NV?

No, because considering raider gangs fight eachother for territory or what-not you'd think they'd have a basic way of identifying friend or foe.

The NV myths getting more and more crazy. Joinable really?

Sneaking in, in disguise (while killing a ton of them at the outside first) is suddenly joinable... sure...

Even then it just be something simple as a touch of face paint, or a piece of cloth strapped to the arm, and even then thats barely needed because raider groups are so small everyone knows everyone.

OP I'm all for it. Regarding Bethesda it is more unlikely tho, as I would think they already have most of their DLC's and such planned out. If anything, it would have to come from the modders. Good thing tho, that the modders get the full kit to play with.

The Kings in New Vegas comes to mind, as a minor group which was highly specialized in dress and manner.

Not really. They had their differences. For one, The Khans weren't hostile towards you unless you declared war on them. Likewise with the Powder Gangers, which you didn't have to kill at all, and both The Khans and Powder Gangers had quests you could do. Fiends on the other hand, is your generic lunatic high on drugs psychopath raider, like those we have in FO4.

Eh, doesn't really matter if there's more variety, it would just be more armor to collect.

Is it shooting at me? Dead. Their dog? Dead. Their base? I will pee in it. Their friends? Dead.

Tho one could argue that at that point they wouldn't be classed as raiders anymore.

Yeah in a chaotic firefight I'm sure those little details work wonders. "Oh wait let me check if that dude over there whose face I can't make out because he's not close enough has a red piece of cloth strapped to his right arm.. " *Gets shot in the head and dies*

Both the Kings and all the Casino factions were former Khans if my memory serves me right without looking it up (Kings I can't remember exactly how they came into being tho)

Cartoon? I would like to remind you that FNV uses the same engine used by Fallout 3. The same cartoon "raiders" are also there. But they are also too generic.

At least in Fallout New Vegas the various groups act differently. They have customs and personal habits. Sure they kill, plunder and raid what they can, but they are not all equal.

While the raiders in Fallout 4 are just an evolution from raiders from Fallout 3.

Who said that they should all be the same? Possible that in 200 years these "disorganized" they have not begun to organize themselves seriously and to found their own society?

Obviously, if it ever comes a serious organization, they would be immediately destroyed.

Why not add both? We would have organized groups of raiders with their uniforms, as well as those disorganized and generics in Boston.

I believe how it was, was the Casino Factions were once all tribes that lived within the ruins, the White Glove Society once being known as The Red Hand? It's been a while since I played New Vegas, before being "domesticated" by Mr. House. The Kings were born when The King found the Elvis School, and saw all this stuff about this one man, and learned that people came to this place to learn to be him, and act like him, talk like him, and saw some sort of calling out of it. They weren't all Khans.

Neither Powder Ganger or the Great Khans are raiders.

The Khans are a tribal group, and the Powder Gangers are escaped convicts.

Aye, thanks for that. I knew it was about Elvis impersonation, just couldn't remember if they were former Khans or local tribes :)

Nah, The King was just a man with a lot of charisma who saw an opportunity to give some purpose in peoples lives, when you think about it. Something to believe in and organize under in the area that was Freeside.

Consider the primitive social structure of raiders, I cant see them organize themselves beyond the kind of grouping we seen in 4, only reason raiders organize at all is to help increase the success rate of there primary method of acquiring resources to survive.

I dont think they ever gave out the tribal name for the white gloves, only that they were a secretive group of cannibals living in some nearby caves.

The Omertas were originally known as the Slither Kin, and the Chairmen were the Boot Riders.

Uh? Everything about The Kings is about Elvis, The King even took his name :D While they may not know that it is Elvis impersonation per se, they have still adopted the style of him. Anyways, it's a bit off-topic :)

Ok, I'll play along. Let's agree that something like face paint would be enough to distinguish friend from foe, why didn't Beth add it or something similar? It would make these "different" raider gangs actually feel somewhat different and it would fit with what we read in the journals that we find, not to mention it hardly takes any effort to implement something as simple as this.

They kind of allude to it during one of the speech options during the White Glove quest...lemme....seee....

From the Wiki, during development, the name they were originally going to be given was the Sawney's.

We have all of those except the cane. You could outfit your settlements in droogs.
