Now I have bought the game already and plan to play, and possibly pay. From this forum, I take that it is one of the worst ever made. So I am beginning to verge on regretting it. In this storm of hate and negativity what is GOOD about the game?

Not much.
I like character development and exploration. You can make some really flexible characters that can adapt to changing situations, or make the same character specific for one kind of situation.
Otherwise, it's rather poo.
Well I love the two things you mentioned there, so there's something
there are all kinds of good things about this game. problem is, if you read these forums, there is almost nothing ZOS can do right. Sub model = fail, f2p = fail, too much like WoW = fail, not enought like WoW = fail. I have a sinking suspicion that a lot people have some secret desire for this game to be a failure that gets projected onto these forums. It is certainly not a copy and paste of the usual MMORPG design with fancier pictures projected on screen. There are of course some aspects which follow a known working design, but there are also things that they are trying to do differently. Now it may not be exactly the game you want it to be, but I have faith in the ZOS development team. I dont think this game was designed to be a quick cash grab, I believe ZOS is playing the long game here. Keep in mind the most popular MMORPG WoW took 4 years and 2 expansions to peak, and was pretty buggy with very little endgame content at launch.
Personally I like the game and I am optimistic for its future.
As am I. Imo they will have to mess up really, really bad to ruin an ES mmo. There is SO much they can do with this world. Just for starters, for example you could have a quest to cure the disease in blackmarsh and open it up to your character
I like the Graphics. I like the Voice Acting. Combat isn't bad. Skill Trees are interesting.
Sadly, that is all the praise I can give.
Art direction - size of the world.
But imagine how cool it would be if there was as much space in the PvE areas as in the PvP areas. The PvP seems the right size - and far from overcrowded. Fun to explore. The PvE areas - you can't walk 20 feet without stubbing your toe on a new mob.
Some of the scenes are amazing. Have you seen the Ancestor Moth's temple yet? The interior is very cool.
Nope. I am not playing any betas. Game is going to be completely new for me
People who like the game are playing it. People who dislike the game are venting on the forums.
Welcome to the world of MMO's
IF someone were this weird brand of people you describe as being set on destroying a game ... how could they possibly do it?
Do you really believe that there are people set on destroying a game for no other reason that it is fun to do?
I don't understand how someone can come to that conclusion (no sarcasm here). The way I see it - critics are just disappointed and that is about it.
i have been playing the game for about three beta sessions now and only recently have i encountered this weird issue were in the middle of the game i can not alt+tab, nor use esc and i can not switch between menus when checking skills or anything for that matter
I think the graphics are great and the fact that it's fully voiced really changes the MMO experience as well.
The combat is pretty good too. You can mindlessly mash away, or you can learn to read your enemies and play strategically.
I also think the large scale PVP battles are pretty fun. The first time you see your alliance laying siege on a fort (given you're in a high traffic campaign) is very very cool. Big war games like dynasty warriors do not compare, in my opinion.
EDIT: You also have to remember OP, a majority of the people who like this game are playing it right now. The other people.. are.. here!
Its the way of the internet. Bandwagon mentality. Read someone crap all over a game, then repeat it yourself because it's the 'cool thing to do' at the moment. The 2 other people read what you wrote and repeat. It basically becomes a meme for people to parrot. And before you know it "Everyone is saying this game svcks so it must be true".
You could say the converse is true as well where people just hear what is good and parrot that.
But neither is really going to ruin or save the game. Those are just words.
I'm not one for faith (read my sig) but I do have faith that people can make up their own minds.
So then if the developers do make these changes and it is not for the best - why blame the 'haters'?
The developers made the decisions. The developers made the changes. They decided. Blaming the critics and calling them haters seems not a very accurate way of going about it.
