What aer good mods...

Post » Tue Jan 19, 2010 1:16 pm

Almost all of the amazing and kick-ass mods out there seem to need Bloodmoon, Tribunal, or MGE. I would have and use MGE except it requires Bloodmoon. I hate it. I'll be reading through a mod, only to see that it requires BloodMoon, Tribunal, or MGE. If you know of any mods that are amazing and don't require BloodMoon, Tribunal, or MGE then post them. They can be yours or just one that you think deserves to be on the list.

p.s. I meant to say "What are good mods..." Sorry.

Well, what mods do you want? I'm afraid your options are going to be VERY limited.

http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=2 is a very large quest mod that doesn't need the expansions.
And the http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=1125 is small, but very well done.

I really suggest spending the $20 and getting GOTY. There is a lot you cannot do without the expansions, like use the community-made patches that fix thousands of things in the game.

I'm making a "new world" mod that doesn't rely on any outlying files except the main Morrowind.esm, but it's VERY far from being done...I actually started a few weeks ago, and seeing how it replaces everything else in the game, I couldn't say whether or not you'd be interested. It pretty much forces the player to make a new character or deal with the bugs involved. I do plan on making an expansion pack that requires Bloodmoon which adds a totally new area to the northern edge of the world called the Teldarian Wastes, but it will be completely optional, and the player will still be able to play the original without having GOTY edition.

Oh yeah, and I'm not that great of a modder. But, at least my mod will have size going for it.

Yeah i agree with Pluto. Seriously, how long has the game been out? And youve never thought to yourself "you know what, i might just buy the addons"???

It's well worth it for the small price tag, have a look on fleabay or something

The thing is, even is a mod might not require the Tribunal/Bloodmoon landmasses or content, the expansions contain some very useful additions and fixes to scripting functions. The expansions are definitely worth the cost.

That said, you should be able to search PlanetElderScrolls for Morrowind mods and sort by "Requires" if you're in the market.

I guess everybody should have the expansions by now. You should get them, as they are well-made and add a lot to the game. And look at your own poll: it seems that you are the only person who voted for "Yes" ;).

It's hard to believe that 8 years after the first release somebody still own and use Morrowind only.

It's like you own a half game if you've never been on Solstheim.

The reason many mods that kick ass need expansions is because they use kick ass features introduced by those expansions, like companion share.

Most modders correctly assume that after all these years the large majority of mod users is in possession of both expansions, so they see no reason to avoid using the very useful content added by the expansions for certain mods.

The GOTY edition of Morrowind that comes with both expansions is pretty cheap these days, and even if you ignore the new modding possibilities and just look at what they add by themselves they are still worth getting. :)

None of my house mods require the expansions, but that's just coincidental...I can't imagine playing Morrowind without BM and Trib. They're worth having for the extra functionality they bring to the game, if nothing else. If you don't like Solstheim or Mournhold just don't go there. :hehe:
