What age are your characters?

Post » Sun May 05, 2013 7:56 am

Just curious how old your heroes, agents, nerevarines, champions, and dovakhiins are. Do you prefer to play young heroes, grizzled old sages, centuries old elves or even someone immortal? Vote away~

If you have many characters you can pick an age group that a majority of them belong in, but you can share the ages of the other ones down below. Feel free to give a little biography on your characters as well.

A mer male who start his adventure in Daggerfall in his late teens. That would make him now less than 300-years old. Still in the prime of life.

I just voted younger than 20 because my vampire was turned at 19, and his brother is 20.

That's a really young Dunmer according to most elves.

I've played a wide range of ages over the years. The youngest has been a late-teenage tavern wench in Skyrim who discovered that she was the Dragonborn. The oldest was a mid-50's ex-Dark Brotherhood assassin in Morrowind who left the organization because of political infighting (thus precipitating vengeful attacks on her when she reached Vvardenfell). And pretty much every age in between

Depends on my race. I usually like being young to mid aged character for their race. So around 200 years with my altmers, about 100 with bosmer and dark elves. With nords and imperials I like being around 25-35, a bit more mature of a warrior. But ive also made a few Bretons and nords that were in their 50s, 60s. One of my favourite characters Judas the priest is a 65 year old Breton, who wears heavy armor and uses restoration and alteration.

Im not really a big fan of making the young protagonists. Especially the way that the elder scrolls games starts, you're always in prison, so I always justify/imagine my character has been imprisoned for quite a while, thus making them an older character and a reason why their skills are so low to begin with, but they gain them back so quickly because they had experience with those skills in prior years.
Wheras with a young person, I can only really roleplay that my character was just recently arrested and detained for a short amount of time and has low skills cus he was never experienced with them in the first place. But I always find it weird that a character that is only like 17 years old with no experience suddenly gains years of experience and battle in only a few short weeks/months. Makes more sense that they had the skills prior to being arrested, and over the years deteriorated into [censored] skills. But when released from jail, its like riding a bike getting back those abilities.

In Dunmer society age doesn't really matter its about political support and power, even in the Telvanni where it was probably the only place where the major mage-lords cared about age.

I'm just saying that's a really young Dunmer. In Morrowind Neloth considered another Telvanni a child cause she was "only" 200 years old.

I'm not saying your wrong. I was just stating to other elves, your character will come off very young.

I know, I know I just love how the Dunmer don't necessarily care about age when one becomes a advlt as far as we know, I could probably be wrong.

While to mer that is true, a 30 year old Dunmer is roughly the same as a 20-30 year old Human in terms of growth. They grow at roughly the same rate as humans if Barenziah is any indication. She was considered fertile at about 17, yet we don't know if she became fertile at that age or was already fertile.

It varies. My youngest is a 17 year old Nord. The oldest is a 200+ Dunmer, but that's not very old for a Dunmer... So the oldest as in old age, not years... it was a 60-something Imperial mage.

It depends, it would be considered middle aged for a Dunmer peasant or Ashlander.

16-year-old angsty prince who ran away from home, and got imprisoned due to a "The Prince and the Pauper" type scenario.

I'd like to think 20-30 years old but my characters usually are the youngest looking character creating characters you can make.

...Ayrenn, the Queen of the Aldmeri Dominion in ESO is like 28 years old...although I really do not like that. Damn ESO and their stupid Altmer lore additions...*grumble grumble*

You think 50 is a baby? Yikes!

50 isn't all that young for an Altmer considering they are fertile at least by 17 years old. So it would be akin to like 30 for a human. With 30 continuing to maintain for a few centuries.
