What anti-cheat is Crysis 2 using?

Post » Mon Jan 31, 2011 11:47 am

I'm serious here, not some sarcastic thread title about cheaters (more often than not, just damn good players).

Doesn't look like it's punkbuster since it's not listed on the website nor are there any files in the game installation, and it definatelly isn't VAC since it's not steamworks. So what is the game using? I hope it's not just running unprotected.

Doing a decent google search, looks like nobody knows yet. But supposedly, it does have something running because they said an anti-cheat would be present in the full game, at release as I and everybody else assumed and doesn't make any sense otherwise anyway. So it might be custom made I guess?

There is no anti-cheating. The game released 1 month or so before it should have. It's missing, A LOT of, very important features.

well If they were using VAC the game would have been forced on STEAM, If they used punkbuster EVERYONE would constantly be "kicked for 0 minutes".
If they used Hack shield... it wouldn't even been a difference so... the million dollar question is:
WHAT THE **** ARE THEY USING????

Didn't punkbuster drop support for Crysis? Something to do with them not wanting to update to x64 support or something. Was curious what they'd go with for Crysis 2, but haven't given it much thought until I got my login issues resolved.

That was posted earlier this months in regard to cheating in the beta.

its kind of obvious that there is no anti cheat software, if there was they, crytek would be using a 3rd party program and license / contract out to them. Since there's no advertising of any form for anticheat software or any trace of it in the install folders assume there is none. Feel free to hack your hearts out and ruin the game even further

Well im happy they are not using vac. Vac just fails BIG TIME.
But not use a descent anti vac like PB which wins so many times just angers me.
