So what are bean bag rounds for?

So what is the point of the bean bag round?

Is it strictly for non-violent playthroughs?

I thought it would be used for:

Someone attacks you , you don't want to kill them, bean bag rounds knocks them out.

As it stands, they just take a " knock down " and get back up and go right back attacking. Thought there would be some hostility cool down effect.

Or for stealing purposes. Friendly faction has gear you want. Bean bag round to the head, knock out , grab their stuff. But you can't steal while there "knocked out."

What are you suppose to use bean bag rounds for ? What do you use them for?

Bean bag rounds are more useful for harder to kill melee monsters/people.
Primarily Deathclaws and the stronger Ballistic Fist crazed Legion Guard.
Other than immobilizing enemies they really aren't that useful.

Knock thing down and let the team take care of it; or runaway; or quickly change weapon.

So legion guard and deathclaws have less fatigue than hp? I'll keep that in mind.

Have you done this with a deathclaw? That's some good huntin'

I couldn't imagine getting within shotgun range of a deathclaw and coming out on the up and up is very likely. That's waayy to close for me. :)

Wish they had some kind of poison dart for the silenced 22 that facilitated the fatigue effect as well and/or deliver poison.

Way less fatigue, you can KO them with one beanbag.

And with beanbag rounds deathclaws are not all that challenging: it's basically the dartgun of FO:NV. Even the legendary DC can be taken down if you unload a hunting shotgun full of beanbags into his noggin, blow his feet off with something big and nasty and then kite him around shooting him in the head with a large gun.

Quote from a random dude, "Have you seen what an anti-material rifle does to a deathclaw? It's not a rifle it's a f**king mini cannon." xD.

Do take note that Beanbag rounds are NOT very effective with a hunter shotgun due to rate of fire and the length of time it takes to switch ammo types.
Beanbag Rounds + Riot Shotgun = Knockout all nearby enemies.

they are for crowd control, and amazing for heavy mobs. Resulted in my easiest DeathClaw Quarry clear next to sniping, but alot more safer.

Even if I chain pulled 4-5 I was fine, riot-shotgun + bean bags = lawl.

They are far from being useless. Riot shotgun, beanbags, promontory, go test it.

I've never thought about using them for those types of situations...... Guess I'll have to give that a try

Every time that I have used them I ended up killing my target without knocking it out. So I just shoot them with actual ammo instead.

same thing here, i thought it would knock the deathclaws out, it didn't, it just killed em, i was using the riot shotgun.

Me too. I tried it on some humans later and it did the same thing, then I decided to call it a day.
