What are some good survival movies / games

Post » Sat Apr 30, 2011 12:50 pm

So I watched the Walking Dead marathon just last week, and I just finished watching the movie I Am Legend, and I LOVED them both, and it really got me into the mood for this type of stuff, so I'm just wondering what survival movies or games you could suggest besides the obvious classic zombie movies/games (unless they're REALLY good ones that not everybody has seen). And by survival I don't necessarily mean non stop running on your feet survival, but I'm looking forward to things like in I Am Legend where he could go scavenge for supplies and such during the day, but retreat to his fort / safe haven at night

EDIT: also if it is a game, could it please be real time, and not a little browser game like Last Stand and Last Stand 2 I know are popular, but I'm looking for something a little more in depth and suspensful

Some good zombie survival movies are 28 days later, 28 weeks later, and the t.v show series The Walking Dead.

The first half of Book of Eli was entertaining, but then it completely falls apart. Still, if it's free on cable or something, worth watching that first half.... imo.
The series Jericho was pretty good for most of it's time but did start to run out of steam later.

But if you're looking for zombie type survival...can't help you there, don't watch many of those since most of them are of the "Dawn of the Dead" variety which I have no interest in. The already mentioned 28 Days Later was good tho (the sequel was not). Shaun of the Dead if you like humor.

The Road is a good survival movie, albeit the kid is pretty annoying.

Uhhh.....

Castaway

That fits into a survival movie, right?

EDIT: But for a suggestion of a movie thats a little more in the spirit of what you are asking, you might try 30 Days of Night.

Would the LOST series apply? Although you've probably already seen that. Shame you don't want book recommendations, I've got a ton of those.

Why? It's a book about a guy who has to have his shelter constructed because...
