what are some ways to get through a door in fallout : Fallout Series Discussion

I cant figure out how to get through the door i need to get through, is there any way besides picking the lock. I also need to find explosives because that is the only other way I can think of.

Some doors have a terminal nearby that can be hacked but usually if its locked your only option is lockpicking (you can't blow up doors).

Which fallout are we talking?

FO1 I think its just lockpicks, keys, and scripted events (dialoge, consoles)
FO2 adds explosives, and sometimes weapon attacks.
