What are the details of Miraak's curse?

This one has held me up for hours, now.

When arriving in Solstheim after beginning the Dragonborn Quest Line, touching the Earth Stone inflicts a curse on the character. A few wikis/walk-throughs mention this, but they all say the curse is cured by "exerting will", which means pushing a thumbstick or other action to re-take control of your character.

It actually isn't cured that way (at least not for me). It is a semi-permanent curse that continues to afflict the character.

These are the two permanent effects I suffer in my game:

- the player can no longer rest properly at a single location.

- the player is periodically teleported to cursed stones, and miraak retakes control until you "exert your will" again.

I've stopped playing for hours while I search unsuccessfully for any details of the curse. At this point, I should have gone back to my three-hour-old save and simply never touched the stone in the first place, it would have been faster. But here's hoping someone out there knows a little more about it, maybe who has seen the actual code, who can tell me:

1 - Can the curse ever be cured (and how)?

2 - What are the curse's effects (hidden or otherwise)?

3 - Is what I am experiencing intended, or am I caught in a bug (should I reload an old save)?

Thanks for any help.

Spoiler

1. It's only cured if you use the bend will shout on the stones. In which breaks the stone from it's curse. Also you need to defeat miraak since the stone at the big temple I think can't be curse free until he is defeated.
2. You just go to the temple in the middle of the night and start building
3. It is intended to be this way but if you can't move at all or break free while building than its a glitch.

All he does is a massive Bend Will over Solstheim.

The cure is you free the stones through the Main Quest and that you finish the MQ.

No side effects except not getting the sleep bonus.

It is intended. You get the same effect if you touch the stones.

Whenever you sleep you are susceptible to being controlled because you aren't aware of yourself so it's why you always wander off. Reason why only you can break away is because you are Miraak's equal.

Thanks. Big load off my mind.
