So what are the fallout forums like now?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 7:07 am

the writing in F1 and 2 was flawless. :whisper:
oh.. thats right.. it wasnt.
gameplay. i can get older fans feeling like their favorite punk rockers sold out to play the vans warped tour on that aspect. but thats about it.

I like how no one in here is explicitly stating that F1 and 2 has a flawless writing without plotholes, but good job on slapping *that* colour on us again.
NV on the other hand..

But I still think they are miles above F3 IMHO given the age

Oh wow, thats an... interesting perspective. Not strictly accurate, but interesting nonetheless.

Well it is because Bethesda made the game. So there would be considered cannon until i hear otherwise.

You mean its that bad you want to shoot it with a Cannon?

The Canon issues are those points where people feel the games contradict each other.

i dont think there is a thread in this forum where someone dosnt throw out an unconstuctive "F3 has crap writing" so i will continue to point out that no one calls out 1 and 2 for having some crap writing. i will continue to point out that people throwing rocks are living in glass houses.

point blank there is precious little about the enclave that makes any sense. its just a fact. but instead of people calling it crap its "discussed" in attempts to explain it away. there are a few that will admit to it. but mostly its not addressed and instead so much energy is exerted pointing out that F3 had crap writing. like i said in this thread its like telling somone thyre dumb for getting bad graded when you got bad grades too. comes off as a lot of sour graqes. i i dont think the wriiting was any better in NV but since Obsidian worked on it people swallow it easier just because some old BIS people were on it.
but thats just my opinion.

Maybe because FO3 has a lot more "crappy writing" than the other games, which overall have very good writing.

"Have you seen my father? Middleaged guy.."
"[INT 7] So you fight the the good fight with your voice?"
Megaton.
Tenpenny Tower.
Rivet City.
Enclave surviving.
FEV existing in a vault.

Lots and lots of bad writing.
FO1 and FO2 is sure to have some bad spots as well but not even a fraction of what FO3 had.

They need to just go ahead and change the name of this section of the forum to Fallout Series Arguments.

Being a fraction of the size of Fallout 3, wink.
But FO1 and FO2 games were just fundamentally badly written as games, mixing RPG with board-game play that just did not blend well together.

Perhaps you misread the context of that something was said in Fallout 3, gabriel77dan, and jumped to the wrong conclusion..

I seem to remember trying to get the TB fans to understand that it takes longer to do something in turn-base than real time, and time saved if done real-time could be better spent doing something else ... they refused to understand that bit of writing.

So I find it amusing when members criticise the writing of Fallout 3.

Anyway, reviewers who have earned their reputations for accurate rewiews, here is a selection of reviews (WIKI).

1a. Being a fraction of the size of Fallout 3, wink.
1b. But FO1 and FO2 games were just fundamentally badly written as games, mixing RPG with board-game play that just did not blend well together.

2. Perhaps you misread the context of that something was said in Fallout 3, gabriel77dan, and jumped to the wrong conclusion..

3. I seem to remember trying to get the TB fans to understand that it takes longer to do something in turn-base than real time, and time saved if done real-time could be better spent doing something else ... they refused to understand that bit of writing.

4. So I find it amusing when members criticize the writing of Fallout 3.

5. Anyway, reviewers who have earned their reputations for accurate reviews, here is a selection of reviews (WIKI).

1a. Quality over Quantity.
1b. You always forget to say "in my opinion", do you really consider this to be a fact? Preference is not fact.

2. No, I did not, I tried to keep an open mind about things and look for other solutions to the horrid writing and I found none.

3. What do combat or gameplay style in combat have to do with writing?

4. Why?

5. Aaaand again with the rewards to excuse coming up with any real arguments.

So here you are OP, I think you have your answer. The Fallout forums are still much the same as when you left mate.

They are still full of people who feel they need to bash games, bash the companies who make the games, bash the fans of the games and eventually bash the bashers ;)

Perhaps when you come back next they'll all get along, after all, they could all start calling themselves "Dinosaurs" by then & unite against the common enemy. Fallout 4 :ahhh:

1) Don't apply grossly inaccurate and insulting generalizations about entire groups of members to people.

2) Stop trying to argue personal opinion as objective fact.

3) Treat the opinions of others with respect, and understand that your own is no better or more "right" than anyone else's.

If we could all agree to these three exceedingly simple points, then we'd all be able to get along much better. As a Moderator I can say that members from both "sides" of this thing are equally to blame for all the bad blood. Maybe we all should stop trying to lay blame on your respective "other side," and start looking at how our own posts come off.

This thread's almost to 200 anyway, so I'm just going to lock it now.
