What are the first mods you want based upon the showcase?

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 3:33 am

I only have a couple of things so far

- I would like hit markers removed as that is an immersion pulling inclusion. I would however like hit markers when wearing Power Armor since it makes sense. You are wearing a suit with computer display so that could give that kind of feedback

- Also need immersiveHud. The UI is just too big and he locations of the UI displays are not preferable to me.

- Finally I want a Jack Sparrow beard if there is not one already in the character creation menu

Everyone poops on the player voice, people just need to try and enjoy and if you really try and can't enjoy it then you know. Sometimes things like this we have to give a try.

The voice is a hindrance to role-playing, no matter how it's handled. When it's without a voice actor, inflection, emphasis, and how it was said happens in your head. When it happens with a voice actor, it's predefined. When you lack a voice, you provide one yourself - it grants you a sense of control over how your character interacts with others though a dozen options even though, mechanically speaking, you just picked between three options.

Disabling the voice means we can be whoever we want.

Well Todd mentioned there were around 700 modifications so I would think there is a good chance there would be such attachmens

Though would be cool to have an underbarrrel shotgun on a sniper rifle

Just for another bit of hype there is a moment in the showcase where you can see a bayonette attached to the underneath of a shotgun

I'd probably disable the voice for a dramatically different RP, keep it for most. UI mod probably gonna be needed, the rest I'll have to wait and see.

The ideal for voiced characters would, I guess, be being able to speak to the console/PC and the NPCs clearly understand you, no matter what you say. This is obviously not going to be possible for a long time. As it stands, we can stick with classic options that aren't voiced while the NPC talks to us, creating a weird back and forth where your lines are delivered instantly and the NPC's flow better, but you have more freedom to imagine. The alternative is voiced player dialogue, which looks better, but is limited.

In fairness, cRPG dialogue is always limited to a degree, there's always options you can think of that you can't say. But before it didn't limit how you could say it.

I see where many people feel this way, and i do understand some of what you and others feel but even fallout will take a new direction we must try. Call me what you must but i enjoy having an actor it's interesting to hear the player talk. I assume you've played mass effect or dragon age and you know for certain you don't like it. People have never considered that maybe its something they're over thinking. The game will still keep many rpg elements but obviously seeks to provide more of a cinematic experience. As i say to everyone, wait until the game comes out and then once you've played or watched game play make a real decision on how you feel about it.

Im not sure how good a "real world" weapon mod would work given how we can mod the heck out of things. but I do want to see some of the other guns from the franchise.

I love Mass Effect but the problem is Mass Effect is a lot more linear than Fallout. Bethesda's dialogue and story telling/quests have never been amazing post-Oblivion. A voiced Protagonist will only further limit dialogue.

I personally don't mind the actual voiced part I'm just worried about the ramifications. We're going to get quests and stories on par with Skyrim it seems. A mile wide and an inch deep.

If we don't like it then we have to change it by moving on, we have to let go of old franchises and say adios and find a new game like fallout or put one in demand that a smaller company will do and deliver perfectly.

There are 21 Character Points to spend on 7 Attributes (all of which have 1 point in them already). This means that, on average, each attribute will have a 4, if points are divided evenly. I see one of the first mods being one that changes that to 28 Character Points to spend (raising the average to 5) - and, of course, an option to add more points for those who like "god-characters".

Hit markers represent that when you get hit in real life, you can detect the direction. Not sure what's unimmersive about that.

All depends on how fast a 64bit script extender is developed, I don't see that happening anytime soon after release though.

Plus not really worried though as most should just play the game vanilla 1st play through anyway IMO. Worry about mods later.

Voice disabler and either a wife/child remover or something that lets me play as the kid. But I think it's gonna be tied too heavily into the story and I'll just have to hope for Bethesda to let Obisidian have a crack at it again.

Unofficial patch. I'm sure there will be some great mods, but this is an essential. I love Bethesda games, but the game will be buggy as all hell.

This. Plus, based on what I've seen so far WRT skills (or the lack thereof), a mod that nerfs XP rewards. Based on past games, it'll be all too easy to max out all of your characters' perks and attributes relatively early in the game.

I'll play it as-is the first time around. After that, I'd be looking for a Project Nevada style collection of tweak sliders, and I'm always interested in item/crafting/more mob mods as well as more character creation options. I know there will be things that annoy me in the game and I'll be looking to change them via mods after the first play-through.

Probably no mods. Atleast until i get bored of the vanilla game. And looking at all the crap you can do i gotta say that this game doesn't really appear to need mods.

Let's see now...

In order of importance:

1 - Protagonist voice disabler.

2 - A PC friendly UI.

3 - An alternate start mod that enables me to ignore the main quest line and just focus on finding my own story in the wastelands surrounding the ruins of Boston.

4 - Unofficial patch since this is a Beth game.

Once these things are available, I might start thinking about actually playing the game. I may end up buying it, if I splurge on the collectors edition since that Pip-Boy would look nice on my shelf next to the Vault-Tech Lunchbox, but I am no longer eager to start playing the game. If #1 on my list will not be possible for some technical reason, then it's most likely going to be relegated to a -75% discount purchase on Steam Summer sale a few years from now as a game of the year edition with all the DLC. And then I'll play it for a bit and ignore it forever more.

None, since I play on PS4. Plus Fallout doesn't need mods, there's enough content.

Macho Man dragons. OOOOOoooo Yeaaaaaaaah!

EDIT: But seriously, top of my list is always a good PC-optimized UI, realistic needs mods, and texture/sound overhauls.
