What are you doing...

Post » Mon Jan 27, 2014 12:26 pm

.......while you wait for ESO to launch? I keep trying to play other games. Right now I switch back and forth between Rift and GW2. Neither is doing it for me.. they feel hollow.... empty....like just another way to kill time until 4-4-14. Even while I play other games I tab out in order to check this forum for updates. Check my Email for a beta invite...

I've been here before. Plenty of times. The void before launch. You count the months, the weeks, the days. Trying to find something....anything... to preoccupy yourself while that internal clock keeps ticking.....ticking....ticking. But nothing quite does it. You feel like a little kid in the weeks before Christmas or a teenager in the weeks before summer break. of course there are things to do, but in the back of your mind it's still there... tick tock...tick tock.

Plus for many of us it's bitterly cold outside....tick tock...tick tock.

So what are you guys doing to fill the void?

"Luckily" I have 2 projects running that absorb a great deal of my time. Sadly one of these is a contract that will still require a lot of my time after ESO releases. But hey, work is work.

I do try to pass a big part the free time that I have with playing games, as I always have. However like yourself I can't really get into anything at the moment.

I know the feeling, I've dabbled in Rift a few times the past couple of weeks, but I can't really play it for more than 20 minutes at a time it just bores me to hell.

Right now I'm doing another Witcher 2 play through, then I might purchase the Dishonored DLC which I never got around to playing.

Come March there's a few games coming out, Titanfall and MGS5, which I may buy.

I just picked up a game called Paper Sorceror, five bucks on Steam :P Indie RPG done in an art style that resembles pen drawing on paper, though still a fully 3D world... with turn-based combat reminiscent of a card game. Check it out ;)

Also enjoying Grim Dawn, an indie ARPG, still currently in alpha... dark world, interesting skill and itemization systems. Act 2/beta coming out soon. In Early Access on Steam currently.

Looking forward to new Thief game next month.

But yeah. I'd rather be playing ESO ;)

you know, i really like this comment, it's clear to see your love for eso. almost poetic, i rarely see comments with this much passion and calmness in the awe of what you are dreaming and comparing eso to Christmas, and the feeling as you said of "hollow" and "emptiness" waiting for eso.

i share this same feeling.

it was the same feeling waiting for oblivion and skyrim. morrowind was dear to me ..

bethesda forums were filled with this same type of warmth and splender leading up to release of oblivion and skyrim, those are nice memories that i will take to my grave.

but alas, what to answer your dilemma with? im at a loss for advice accept for 1 small nugget that i will share with you that i have found that occurred to me while i was in a very rare diamond mine near ghost fence close to red mountain. i suddenly realized while standing there looking at the rare diamonds, that it is these very moments just before touching your soon to be bride, or, waiting for the sun to rise while sitting in front of the closed door of azura for dawn and dusk, that it is this moment, and anticipation that is the real gem. not the gift, but it is the wait that is most precious.

Playing through Skyrim again, this time with 249 mods.

Also working, and spending time with family/friends since I won't have much time for them once April 4th rolls around (unless they're gonna play too).
