What are you expecting out of mods?

Post » Fri Oct 14, 2011 12:55 pm

Title's fairly self explanatory, but to repeat myself:

What are you expecting out of mods in Skyrim?

Food for Thought:

  • How high resolution do you think the texture packs will be?

  • Do you think some clever folks will figure out how to take full advantage of the Directx11 functionality?

  • Somehow implement multi-core support if it isn't already in?

  • What do you think the script extenders will make possible?

I'm not expert when it comes to mods, so I'm just slightly curious to see what others are expecting in the next few years from modders.

I don't play on console.

Skyrim 2.0, like i got with previous Beth games. Vastly improved and expanded looks, mechanics and content while still having the original game at the core.

What am I expecting....? Or what do I want? :P

I expect the advlt mods will be in full swing within a week or two.

I want.... hmm, I dunno. I'll have to put that off until I've actually played. Although pretty dresses and badass armor/weapon mods are always welcome :D

Same mods there always are:
FF hair, nvde mods, peoples assorted weapons/clothes/locations made,
and eventually overhauls that fix everything the developers couldnt/didnt.
and of course immense compilations of any these....
ahhhh looking forward to it :foodndrink:

Do you think that any of Bethesda's new features that they are including with Skyrim(Radiant Story, Improved Radiant AI, Improved Graphics, etc) are going to be the cornerstones of even better mods than what we saw out of Oblivion?

I expect Skyrim Mod Manager and a nvde Mod to be two of the first mods made

I also expect a six mod to be made later turning what will very likely be normal fade to black six scenes into something hardcoe since this mod is ALWAYS made for Bethesda games.

probly but not till much later till the community's gotten a chance to test them thoroughly, so right after launch expect what we all know... nvde mods.

one thing im curious about is if Skyrim is using such a different engine, will modders be able to port over all the old mods?

Contrary to popular belief, if you look at the Top 50 of all time of the most endorsed Oblivion files on Tes Nexus, they are not about "advlt" mods. ;)

I gotta play it before I know what I wanna mod. But most likely, the first thing I shall look for is an HD retexturing pack, and an exe modifier to allow for 64 bit use. Other than that, I will just have to wait and see how the game feels. I may attempt to design a mod around making the game more difficult. Or if someone else in the community is feeling ambition and wants to create a "hardcoe" mod, I might pick that up. I really liked the idea of hardcoe in New Vegas, and I think I would enjoy that mode quite a bit more in Skyrim's rugged mountainous terrain.
