What are you going to be?

How can you decide before you know what everyone's going to look like in the new engine?

Because everyone will still basically look the same, you don′t expect to see any Bosmer towering over a Nord now do you ? Or a Orsimer with the body build of a Kahjiit.

Uh... I think many of you are misunderstanding the whole "no classes" thing. While no formal class title will be bestowed upon anyone, as far as I understand the skill system will work in such a way as to increase the growth of the skills you use more frequently, thus actually "encouraging" you to follow the path of whatever class you use the skills of. Don't simply say "oh there aren't any classes so there's no point talking about the", - this is an RPG here! Of course classes are still meaningful

Duh, Breton of course. 50% Magicka Resistance and Dragon Skin FTW :gun: . Also more Magicka is critical for spellcasting.

Nordic Ranger. Hood, cloak, longsword, longbow and a few select spells. Basically Aragorn but not so much of a goody two-shoes.

Nord femme fatale. After hearing about dual wielding, I'm seriously considering changing to a more "magey" race. Probably won't though as I've never done a pure mage before (although Skyrim is tempting me to give it a go).

I've got three characters prepared for Skyrim.

1. Nord warrior badass for the main quest, fighters guild and arena (if the latter two are in the game).
2. Breton or Dunmer mage for the mages guild. (I'll decide by which one I like the look of more).
3. Argonian assassin/thief for the assassins guild and thieves guild.

I normally play my first game as a Breton who is a Warrior with some magic skills. Have done that since Daggerfall. However, since Skyrim is Nord country and I usually play a Nord my second way through I'm still debating. Also, with the removal of classes I wonder if the starting stats of the races are going to be the same or if they change them up some.

I'll decide when I learn more about the races and the game itself.

Orsimer Spellsword (customised a bit). It's the build I always have most fun with. There's just something satisfying about being a non-stereotypical Orc, and throwing fire at people. I usually go for a shadier look as well, Hood, fairly light armour. People don't quite know how to take me :D.

I really need to wait and see what if any perks races get now. I really hope race selection isn't a purely aesthetic consideration, now.

Whats up with people and Dunmer?

I think that has something to do with the abilities of Dunmer. According to the description from Morrowind

The dark-skinned, red-eyed Dunmer combine powerful intellect with strong and agile physiques, producing superior warriors and sorcerers. On the battlefield, Dunmer are noted for their skilled and balanced integration of the sword, the bow and destruction magic. In character, they are grim, aloof, and reserved, distrusting and disdainful of other races.

It makes sense to choose a dark elf since they are designed to be some kind of a general purpose race and with that it is always possible to create the most individual character.

I'm sure I will be a Dunmer too, although I'm thinking about to be a Nord.

People like to play as dunmer. For me that would depend on who is doing the voice acting this time. And hopefully they'll look more rogue and less soft this time... Then I might return to playing mainly dunmer again, but for now Imperial ftw.

My first character will be a dunmer Spellsword-type that likes to help people and do the right thing, but won't hesitate to bend the law to do so, if need be. ;)

Second character will probably be a nord. I mean hey, it's Skyrim!
