What are you gonna do after the tutorial in Skyrim

Post » Thu May 19, 2011 9:14 am

When i played OB for the first time i was astounded at how free the world and player was.. The first time i played it i didnt know there was a journal where there is a map and quests.. it was my first TES game.. so the minute i got out of the dungeon i was astounded by the beauty of the world and confused about where i should go so i headed towards what i thought was a bit white tower..(imperial city) and joined the arena. from there i figured out the quest book and headed to weynon proiry and then to chorrol to join the guilds.. How are you guys going to start off in Skyrim once you are out of the tutorial dungeon. are you gonna look for guilds. or quests or explore the world ect..

I couldn't find this topic in the search but that thing is garbage so if this is already up im sorry

To Bethesda.. these are literally the best games i have played and i have never seen an RPG with as much freedom as you guys have put it. its truly incredible

Into the wilderness for a while to explore, then off to the cities to sell my fat loot.. or fat lute, which ever one I have. Will then explore cities for a while and probably join a guild/do some sidequests. I'll start the main quest when I'm level 10 or so.

Will refrain from doing everything with my first character, and will make a few characters to do everything.

I am going to brutally murder the first thing I see.

Wander off to the nearest town and start mucking about, probably starting the main quest after getting arrested enough times that the guards put a plaque above my cell.

Same thing happened to me.

After circling the Imperial Prison walls in astonishment, I stole a horse from the stables, pissed off some imperial guardsmen and hightailed it off the island. The roads eventually took me to Skingrad and then Anvil. At the time, I had no idea what the size of the map really was because Oblivion was a next gen game and anything was possible. I literally thought it was an endless territory. Very possibly the reason why Elder Scrolls IV turned out to be one of my favorite games ever.

For Skyrim, I'm going to hold off from looking at the map as long as possible! To get the same effect, ofcourse. Probably won't work like last time but meh... I'll walk a path straight to the objective any way I see fit using only my eyes and my good sense. If there's a mountain in the way, I might choose to walk around it. Or I might climb over it. Decisions like that will make the first hour or so very fun.

I always do the main quest first, but I don't just rush through it, I'll take my time, roleplay, explore the places that the main quest takes me to. Once it's over I'll do whatever else fits that particular character. I'll make other characters to do guilds and other stuff.

im kinda confused on what the point of that is..isnt it more fun to do all the guilds and quests with each character or no

I'm hoping to get a genuine sense of "What should I do first?" as I did back with my first Elder Scrolls experience, again. At the very least, I can say I don't know what I'll do, from now. It really will depend on what I experience in the game. The setting I emerge into, the mood I'm in on that day, the way the game mechanics functions, the amount of intrigue the story instills in me, and my general starting scenario will all affect my decision.

Heh no one would have said that about the last game. "I'm going to go through the main quest until oblivion gates start showing up and then explore."

The second option is probably the closest. If the nearest city is the "main one" (given there is one) then I will probably go there, but that is where I'll be: the nearest city just looking around absorbing the world :) I usually don't wait too long before doing the first quest in the main quest and then maybe join a faction, but just settling in is the first thing to do.

I'm going to set out and test the world to see how it interacts with me.

I'll walk down the nearest path to see whether something comes to attack me. If there are people on the road, I will find out where they are going and why and whether they're chatty folks. If the road is empty and nothing attacks me, I will wander off it looking for waterfalls and vistas. If I come across a dungeon, I will roll in and see whether it lives up to the hype of dungeons being unique and fascinating places, filled with traps and environmental puzzles.

After a taste of the environment I will go looking for people. When I first come to a small town, I will wander about seeing who is in the streets, what they are doing, whether they need help and whether their problems are large or small ones. I will find out what the gathering places are. Do guilds have outposts, or even representatives, here? What about the Imperial Legion, or other political factions? How do people spend their day and what are the industries of the town? Is the local tavern lively? Does a lot of traffic pass though here? Are the people taciturn or talkative? Do they have unique things to say? Do they approach me on their own or otherwise react to my presence?

By that point, I am certain that I will have accumulated more than one quest, and probably I will have been steered towards a larger city. Many things will have happened, and from there... I will go where the game takes me. :)
