Currently? My short-term excitement is heavily leveled towards Christmas- it's closest, and I'm getting New Vegas for it, family, all that other stuff. I'm looking forward to the reveal, but I fear that Bethesda may spill too much information before release, similar to what happened with Oblivion.
Naturally, 11-11-11 is a day my long term excitement is already eying hungrily, and as that day draws near, it will begin to bubble and seethe and multiply exponentially. Until it has nowhere left to go but into my short-term excitement, which I naturally feel far more acutely than long-term excitement, at which point... well, let's just say I won't be able to think of much else in that time.
I remember the last game I actually got this hyped for. It was Spore (didn't live up to the hype, which was physically impossible, as gamers had hyped the game up beyond anything before that in their heads, to the point Maxis actually said "you know, hype is good, but this is out of control, let's calm people down.) I had trouble sleeping.
It will be a fight between my desire to get a box copy and my desire to have the game as soon as I physically can (Steam pre-load, in other words).
