What are you playing while waiting for Skyrim?

Post » Mon Sep 26, 2011 10:20 pm

I never bought any DLC for DA:O or Fallouts... because Steam and GoG sales on games that I always wanted to play kept eating my spare change! :sadvaultboy:

it's cheaper in the long run not to get dlc, and wait for GOTY. Especially with EA's bizarre accessing methods, I just waited for Dragon Age ultimate edition to drop in price a bit. Hopefully New Vegas will have an edition with all the extras, eventually.

I'm playing a game me and my friends came up with a few years back, it's called "Get Drunk".

Mostly just Oblivion... made me a Nord. Trying to make him last and find a way to 'carry over' into Skyrim. :) Then me and my brother have been sneaking around in Splinter Cell Conviction... aaand I'm waiting for the Battlefield 3 beta so I can shoot for a straight week or so.

darn, I wish I had a decent internet connection so I could play online shooters :brokencomputer:

Infamous 2 (hadn't played it), then waiting for Batman AC and Battlefield 3 to get here already.

I forgot that I still have Batman: Arkham Asylum in my Steam DL list... guess I better start on that! (never played it before)

Dead Space 2 was alright, but it didn't move me like the first did. 2 felt like a corridor shooter :( . The other games are probably awesome though! :foodndrink:

The first dead space was scarier but I think that the second one had a better story. As for the others, mass effect 2 is ok, Zelda will almost always be good, and unchart 2 is just amazing and I can't wait for the third one.^_^

Skyrim's CE is packaged with an extra helping of 'awesome' though!

 Yep, it sure is. :P

Honestly, though... the Skyrim CE is so disappointing. It just doesn't seem as though it would be worth $150, to me. Dark Souls has its CE at 1/2.5 times the price and the differences are that Skyrim's has a statue and a somewhat larger art book (although Dark Souls' CE also has a hardcover art book) while Dark Souls' comes with the soundtrack (download) and a mini strategy guide. That statue just doesn't come into play, for me, because it's just a PVC statuette that does nothing other than gets looked at and touched for a few minutes while enlargening the box size and inflating the price of the CE. It is perhaps one of the more useless things I've seen in any CE I've actually paid any attention to. The Septim coin that came with Oblivion... I'll bet that was much cheaper and still quite cool. Daggerfall's letter opener had a purpose and was likely also cheaper and still quite cool. I'd rather have a cheaper Skyrim necklace that I can wear or carry around with me or a replica Nordic helmet for the price that statue must have cost... just so I could do something with it for all that money. Maybe even put in a Skyrim PS3/360 controller or mouse (depending on which version one gets). Now that would be something I'd buy. If Skyrim's CE came with a soundtrack, I'd be more tempted, as well.

I would have picked that up if I did not already have a bunch of games waiting to DL and my ISP has a stupid 17GB per month download limit. :swear:

Attach the statuette to a chain and wear it around! :shocking:

I agree with all of this I got the Oblivion Ce because of the pocket guide to the empire book. I am not buying the Skyrim CE its not worth it for me.

I am hoping Chrono Trigger is as good as the hype. I still like Final Fantasy VI so it will probably be my cup of tea. Good thing my ps1 is still alive after... about 15 years (have to pry open the lid with a screwdriver to change discs though). :violin:

Ooh... how could I forget about the Pocket Guide to the Empire?! An updated one would be awesome... and I believe Daggerfall came with Daggerfall T-shirt and I'd like that, as well. Maybe Bethesda could have even thrown in an appropriately ornate Guide to Skyrim, or something. They could have created an in-depth book sating thirsts for lore on the history of Skyrim in more depth than before... or perhaps just an updated Pocket Guide the Empire would be best.

Yeah the Pocket Guide was why I got it. A Skyrim T-shirt would be awesome. I would like to have an ornate book to read and see if anything has changed lore wise to the series after the two Elder Scrolls novels. Either book one on Skyrim or a revised Pocket Guide would be awesome. Or how about both in one package. Another thing Bethesda could think about doing is lowering the inflated price for their game and add some useful item like either one or both the Pocket Guide to the Empire Revised and a Skyrim lore book if this was the case the CE would be mine. The only thing that interest me in it is the art book and its not worth eighty bucks plus tax in my opinion.

I finally bought Witcher 2, so hopefully that will keep me occupied for a while. I'm trying *not* to play Oblivion again because I'm afraid between it and these forums I might get TES overload by the time Skyrim gets here. That's probably not possible though.
