What are your characters quirks?

For pure refreshment (and roleplaying) Angel drinks only Apple-Berry juice which she only makes from..TA_DA.. apples and berries.

She is obsessive about making friends and will joke, boast, compliment, and warn every new person she meets until they like her.

She has no fashion sense at all and has been known to wear hideous combinations of clothes which she thinks look great.

She is a gentle soul and prefers to control wilderness creatures and bandits or hide from them rather than kill them. A courtesy she does not extend to the undead, Daedra, Vampires, and Necromancers.

She is obsessive about alchemy. She will stop defending herself and allow the monsters to hit her while she picks a mushroom cap or harvests flax seeds from a newly spotted plant.

Because I rolled her as a child prodigy mage using the console to resize her, she cannot swim above water, She has to cast a spell or use a water-breathing enchantment.

For a while, she had a bad habit of peeking in peoples pockets just to see what they were carrying. Rominus Paulus once kicked her out of the Mages guild for a while just because she peeked in his pockets. She never took anything. She was just curious.

When she is in her hometown of Anvil, she breakfasts with the Mages guild crew and visits her horse at the stable every day.

She collects staffs.

EDIT
Okay, My character will...
-Ride either her horse Magus or Equis
-Eat 3 meals a day, which is mainly a cheese wedge and graqes.
-Use a custom made shock spell to kill things either to kill it fast or as a last resort
-Everyone around her seems to die, like the people who were Glarthir's suspects, and most of the Skingrad Mages guild.

My character Rythe occaisionly strips down to his under wear and jumps around the city casting fireballs and slicing with his blade.

My last Nord(soon to be remade) had/has incredible sticky fingers

He would also strip down and run throughout the wilderness or dungeons using only his fists....he had a bad trip with a vampire

Well, my most recent reincarnation of Slyte, this time an altmer mage, has revealed to me only this:
He is obsessed with anything ayleid, and will go out of his way to venture into a ruin.

This may be a dumb question, but these are all just imagined quirks, correct? For fun? Or do any actually exist in game without your influence?

Lol you have complete control over your player so technically no they don't exist without your influence. But if you wanna have fun don't just think of your character as some guy in the game.

Heh. No it is not a dumb question. Rainman gives the correct answer:

I spend so much time playing/writing my character that in a way, she comes to life with her own personality. If you ask any author who produces over a hundred thousand words or so of writing about a fictional lead character, they will tell you the character really does 'come alive' and have a 'voice' that guides their actions. My character has exceeded 500 hours in game, and her combined journals exceed 200,000 words, so she has certainly wormed her way into my heart and does indeed live - quirks and all. Imagination is a wonderful thing when unfettered. :)

It's hard to say. This is gonna sound weird but I'm a believer of the afterlife, ghosts, channeling, etc. I've known people (my sister, for one) who have gotten way obsessed with Ouija boards. AS they get deeper into communicating with whatever it is that's answering, their personality changes. My sister had some serious problems because she was dealing with a malevolent spirit on the other end.

So as I game, I certainly do at times feel something else is influencing my decisions. Yes, I'm the one ultimately in control of what my character does, but I'm also getting vibes from something outside myself, as well. Hard to explain if you've never experienced such things. .

I absolutely understand. :) I've been a writer for . . . wow, over twenty years now, I suppose, since I started writing stories when I was in first grade. I'm coming into the world of Oblivion with a lot of Sims experience, which I guess was what made me question if there were any independent actions on the part of the characters. :)

Can't wait to tell you all my character's quirks!

Yes, I'm very much a Sims player too, at least I was. PS2 doesn't offer as much as the PC, you see. But I can't wait for Sims 3 on the PS3.

Oh, you do understand then!

I note from your posts on the mod forums that you are on PC. Dont' forget to look into a voice set mod. They give your character a no kidding actual voice and causes them to comment about things. Great fun!

My newest character whom I am in middle of planning, has the following quirks thus far:
A Vegetarian, and a lover of animals such as Deer, rats, and the ever so adorable Mudcrabs. She will kill creatures such as trolls, and minotaurs, but not Wolves, bears, boars and other hostile animals.
Tends to prefer dark clothing/light armor. Never Heavy.
Prefers to pick her food in nature, instead of buying, but in emergencies, will resort to buying food.
Not one to freely flaunt her wealth, should she strike it rich, of course.
Will visit any wayshrine she comes across, and always stops by a chapel.
She will never willingly kill an innocent person.
Has a love of collecting things(Not sure what would be fun for her to collect yet)
Prefers to walk instead of ride on horseback, and will avoid swimming and water at all costs.

And a fun thing i'm going to try, is not use fast travel, which should make this more fun.

Ya its way funner to not use fast travel at all no matter how desperate you are. It can be sooooo tempting going from like Anvil to Leyawiin or Cheydinhal though. Without a horse its unberable but getting a crappy one isnt hard at all haha. Would yo consider Dark Brotherhood targets innocent? Most of them have done something or wronged someone enough to cause their victim to plead to the Night Mother which is how most of my characters rationalize cold blooded murder.

Oh wow the question about the DB is a good one..
Should she be confronted by Lucien, then she would know that he is a murderer who kills without reason, but I am stumped if she would kill him to punish him for his sins, or let him live, ignoring the questline.
But since the DB goes against the Nine Divines, she might even go undercover, then do a pilgrimage after the purification quest. She isn't an overly Religious person, but would still serve the Nine in this task.
And maybe after her undercover work, she would go insane in the name of the Nine, and kill all who plot against them, clearing out the people at Daedra shrines, and pretty much anyone who doesnt appear to be a devoted follower of the Nine.

Haha I always go at least until you get Shadowmere. If you kill him though you are a murderer just like he said you were. I always hate the purification though I love all the cheydinhal sanctuary inhabitants.

My newest character is a Dunmer and has the following quirks:

Insists on wearing low-class clothing (blacksmith pants, beggar's shirt, scruffy shoes) and using cheap weapons like iron and steel to appear less threatening. The enchantments on those weapons are anything but cheap though.

He eats two tomatoes for every meal

That's a superior quirk.

The only interesting one I can think of is that if an NPC ends a conversation with an important point or request, I'll use the mouse to nod my head.

Less interesting ones:
Sits down when eating (a vegan diet, doesn't touch alcohol.)
Keeps her gear practical for spelunking (no dresses/skirts, heals, nor metal armor.)
Gives to the homeless.
Has a fascination for gizmos (moves trap components around after they've triggered, dons stuff if it looks steampunk.)
She has bad eye sight and so a precious inventory slot must always be reserved for goggles or specs.
Closes doors after opening them, if in friendly company (IE: Not a dungeon.)

Great stuff. Angel does several of these too but I never thought of nodding her head with the mouse. However, I could picture in my mind that she was nodding.

Hmm yeah, so she would probably make a deal with him, she would not kill Rufio, but will keep silent about the offer, and the Dark Brotherhood, then go on a pilgrimage for the innocent slain.
The Dark brotherhood would be used to advance her religious beliefs, so if by a miracle an innocent death doesn't happen, she would be her original, "Yeah the Nine are cool, but I'm not gonna go overboard obsessive with them."
Man, this one thing you pointed out is already shaping this character to be way more indepth than my previous, thanks :D

You're welcome haha. I'm surprised there's not some mod that makes a good version of Shadowmere out there since she is the best horse in the game.

Hmmm, I lack a lot of knowledge in the CS, but I might be able to use a white horse, with Shadowmere's stats, and place it at the IC stables, but the part that'd stop me is making it for sale.

Just make yourself the owner to begin with. Angel has a black horse that seems to have a target painted on its rump. I just use the console to resurrect it whenever it gets killed. With her current cash of 100k Septims, she could buy another horse but that one is hers.
