What are your characters quirks?

Post » Mon Jul 05, 2010 8:58 pm

So, I'm working on my first real "character" character . . . I started with one to learn about the game (an apprentice healer high elf named Iliana), and I can't say I know a thing about her, really. So now I'm trying to create a real character with a lot of personality. I haven't even opened the game to start making him, but this is what I know so far:

Benedikt the Drunk: Nord. An ex-assassin and conman who tried his hand at reforming by serving in the Skyrim church after the murder of his wife and ended up drunk and homeless, wandering the Tamriel coasts and stealing to survive.

  • Still has a soft spot for water and will take a dip whenever he can. Usually avoids bridges.
  • Drinks anything he can get his hands on (either honestly or not), not discerning in the least.
  • Has trouble trusting authority.
  • Will never fast travel.
  • Writes in his journal everyday . . . but don't tell anyone, he doesn't want to ruin his image (more?).
  • Doesn't like to sleep, because he doesn't trust anyone.
  • Likes to collect keys.
  • Would much rather fight with his fists than with a weapon, but uses weapons when needed.
  • Repairs armor and weapons after every use . . . kind of anol about that.
  • Hates being alone.
  • Loves rainy days and gets the most accomplished on them. Reminds him of his wedding day to Jóhanna.
  • Had a horse as a child. Wants a horse again to keep him company.
  • Can't decide between joining the fighters guild or the thieves guild, so dabbles in both.
  • Has a pair of boots he wears everywhere.
  • Ended up in prison for fighting at a local pub, after someone called him a coward. Hates that.
  • Feels comforted by churches, even though they basically threw him out for his bad conduct (and stealing the communion wine, of course).
  • Will defend anyone he sees as defenseless . . . including animals. If he kills an animal in self-defense, he uses all the material.
  • Only goes to the arena when drunk.
  • Fancies himself a Robin Hood and gives extra stolen money to the poor.

That's it . . . so far. :hubbahubba:

Those are some awesome traits.
I've got some more ones for my Good aligned Character(first one of the bunch I will keep good haha)
She prefers to eat cheese most of all, and if she must drink alcohol, it would be wine of any kind, from Cheap, to Vintage 399.
She is prone to Skooma addiction, due to her father being an addict for her childhood.
She cannot stand Nobles who are full of themselves.
She will spare a coin to a beggar if she remembers.
Now the fun part, choosing a race, class, birthsign and her name.

And finding a mod to disable fast travel.

Haha for rping fast travel is a big nono but you don't need a mod to not do it. The only places that are hard not to fast travel is anywhere in the mountains because there's usually one road there and I have no idea where they are so I end up running against a mountain for ten minutes. And a lot of time shadowmere will attack other creatures and fall down the mountain. Ooo is nice in that you can't fast travel to any of the cities until you go there.

Haha ya I know until I get Shadowmere its hard since other horses are slow and they like to die when defending me from foes. My new character in OOO has yet to fast travel and eats 3 meals a day ish and sleeps every night. Pretty proud of myself. I've died a lot in dungeons though haha. Usually from traps.

I've currently got a rule for fast travel: If I've traveled that exact route within the last 3 days (in game), then I can fast travel, since my character knows the way to be fairly clear.

Interesting. Also fast traveling extremely reduces the aesthetic pleasure of oblivion. Half the reason I ride on my horse is just to see the beauty of cyrodiil.

Well I had to allow some fast travel since my character doesn't like horses. Going everywhere on foot would add a lot of travel time to my game.

Okay I'm convinced Dyan phor a'Cauz the Paladin is a lisbian. She jsut woke up in the Oak and Crossier, went to put clothes on, looked in the cabinet, and put on a burlap vest that was in there. "STOP THEIF!" yelled a female voice behind her!

Dyan instantly put the burlap vest down and turned around, only to find Praxeda Afrenus (sorrry, that name's probly spelled wrong) in the room with her. Which means they slept together because the room's door was definitely closed.

So this is the THIRD time it's happened with Dyan. Not that there's anything wrong with that. ;) The other 2 times involved a sweet dark elf in the Bravil Fighter's Guild. :hubbahubba:

EDIT: so Dyan has finsished her town shopping. Got a new contract from the Fighter's Guild, wnet to chapel and went back to her Oak & Crossier room. Praxedes is still there! I'm like blown away!

 All I can say is even with a paladin the Hair shirt, and inward spiky armour must come off some time.

I love the bed hoping in Oblivion to be frank ( throws on a funny voice ), its a great way to just walk into a room and find out how shocked you can be with npc's AI throwing up prefered bedfellows.

Lol. Buffy's in the Mages Guild and travels alot, staying at her guild halls when she does. After being woken up in the middle of the night a few times having to yell http://i668.photobucket.com/albums/vv43/Acadian6/ScreenShot557.jpg she now makes me use the command console to lock the door wherever she sleeps. She really doesn't care for the idea of taking a walk of shame down the stairs in the morning to breakfast, thanks to Vigge the Wanderer. Lol.

^ Oh, I dont' mind if my characters have a little fun. ;) I'm playing the Vanilla game, so anything out of the ordinary is certainly welcome. But I was guessing Dyan is asixual...being a holy knight and all. Looks like I was wrong!

Here's the UESP page on Praxedes.

Looks like she spends only one day a month in Chorrol. Lucky Dyan.

Sounds like Vigge wandered her all night.
Teskinah has yet to awaken with a "friend". But I feel it won't be before long until she has to wake up to an Orc.

My Renee Gade II character once woke up in the Grey Mare with a lizardman in her room!

Well overall this sort of thing is rare in inns, and it's taken me alot of hours before it did happen. "Over Night friends" seem to happen more often in guilds, though.

It all began with a simple misunderstanding. The head of the fighters' guild put out a decree stating, "The word 'fighting' has been deemed too politically incorrect. So we spent all week trying to come up with a less harsh name. Long story short: We decided, hey, we all like to swing our weapons around, right? From now on, know yourselves as members of the Swingers' Guild."

Lol!
My Orc, Fawkes, woke up next to Azzan once with all the guild members watching. Hmm I believe that two mages guild guys always sleep together, which I find cute.
As for Tobias quirks:
1. He will never go into cities
2. He never wears a shirt
3. He LOVES waterfalls
4. Lakes near waterfalls make his pants fall.
5. When injured he simply grounds some nightshade and puts it on his wounds, it heals him. But of course im in the ps3 so I just pretend :P
6.He was raised by a orc who taught him to lisen to nature because she can teach you many things

Skjorvi of Snow and Ash, my newest dunmer female:

- Will close every oblivion gate she finds that are too close to the road. Doesn't matter what she's doing or how quickly she needs to get there, if she finds a gate on the way she has to stop and close it.
- Fights her way through problems. No sissy "lets talk about this" sturgeon for her!
- Bathes every other week. With a bathing mod, this becomes a hassle, but also quite fun.
- Up until very recently lived in her saddlebags. Made looting and collecting rather... tricky, so she isn't one for picking up a lot of items.
- Prefers two-handed axes to anything, and will only pick up a different type in direst emergency (to her, surviving takes precedence over a favored weapon; what works, works!)

And there are others that I'm likely forgetting. xP

I created a completely different character to what I usually play.

Lirielle Tailas is a female Breton, Healer.
- She refuses to fight unless there is absolutely no other option. Won't take a quest if it involves killing.
- Terrified of the dark, so always has a torch on her, and a light spell just in case.
- One I hadn't planned, but she's also petrified of Mud Crabs.
- She'll try and help anyone and everyone who needs it.
- Obsessed with pretty clothes and jewels.

Now, I know the list is short, but I've only recently started travelling Cyrodiil with her, so we haven't had time to fully get to know each other yet.

Kain Nightwatch -

- After killing someone (or finding someone dead) he bows his head for a few seconds, then carries on.
- Only uses restoration and illusion magic. He perceives killing your enemy in one shot with a fireball as being disrespectful.
- Only eats one meal a day, made up of strawberries bread and a sweetroll.
- Never uses a shield. They get in the way of the quick and slight combat moves he favours.
- Always dons a cloak before an assassination. Identity must be concealed at all costs.
- He left the Dark Brotherhood after doing all the quests,
Spoiler
killing Arquen on the way out. She had it coming killing LuLa.

- He has a hatred of the undead. Raising the dead is disrespectful, so he hates necromancers more.

My breton Marque Felin

Drinks skooma on occasion

Will not worship the Nine and may 'service' some of the daedra but does the worship them.

Spends a bit to much time down in his basemant with his experiments....

Got into the skooma business on the east side of Cyrodiil with the orc gangs and dealers down in Bravil. trying to get out of this hole.

Has a suspicion of Khajiits (because of how they talk or think in third person)

Smokes tobbacco at least twice a day, and if he can't find anything he'll check his alchemical ingrediants for any substitutes.

Stays out of the chapel and mages guild circles due to bad run-ins and the news about his experiments with necromancy.
(even though he has never done anything serious but still questionable)

Smells bad and doesn't clean or dress himself as he should.

Dislikes destruction, alteration, myticism but still uses them if he needs to get out of a bind.
(Everyone is amazed by the new destruction spell that could decimate a whole legion of gaurds but the Nine forbid anyone who summons an undead mudcrab.)

Would rather run and summon a daedra(which cannot actually die) to do his fighting. Also sees restoration as a great way to prolong his fights and stay in those long term battles.

My characters quirks are these:

- He always makes sure he takes his helmet off in town, he feels that people being able to see his face builds trust.
- He makes sure he sleeps at night, lets just say he cant use his trusted sword and shield effectively if he is fatigued
- Trained in the arts of restoration, he travels the wilds and from town to town offering his healing services for free.
- Despises druggies so if they even attempt to talk to him he tends to punch them in the face and accept his fine.
- Dren likes to be alone and it is for that reason he built his own home in the middle of the forest.
- He hates getting wet and swims only when absolutely necessary.

Cant think of to many more even though he has a lot.

Camarilla is a self declared Naturist. Whenever no one else is around, she strips down. She spends most nights at the shores of Lake Rumare, http://tinypic.com/m/dg1apj/4 and http://tinypic.com/m/dg0w14/4. Being a farmgirl, she also feels it's a shame to make potions of all those good vegetables and meats, and she eats most of it in a nice stew.

Other than that, she has quite a temper on her and likes to punch people. A lot. And that's not always a good combination.

Sir Michael is an Imperial Paladin, knighted by the Emperor himself. He knows exactly why he was jailed, the Emperor had foreseen an event, and had the guard "imprison" him, so that they could meet. He only liked unique weapons, as generic enchanted items are just so, generic. :P He loves Tamika's wine, helps out the poor/infirm. He is very sociable, and converses with the guard, and townsfolk. Being skilled in Restoration magic, he heals any friendly NPC/creature that he stumbles upon. He also has a hobby of collecting alchemical ingredients and crafting potions, which he sells for gold, leaves as tribute to the alters of the Nine in chapels, and gifts to those in need. He is very neat, and cleans his clothes/bathes when ever he can. He has no set home, yet, as he travels to all parts of Cyrodiil, questing and helping. He does have his sights though, on a few places. :)

Cheers,

-Grizzly

Welcome back Grizzly.

My new characters Anna the tieflings quirks so far..
Only eats raw meat, and drinks ale, mead, blood, skooma anything really to fuel the fires within, and partakes frequently especially after a fight ( she bites to the bone ).
No horses, as she has wings and is skilled in arial acrobatics, theres no point.
I think however her hunger will lead her to view horses as an appetite wetter.
Dark clothes and armour, light as well so no robes, glass or vanilla metal wear.
No helmet, or hood, she's both vain and it would interfere with horned headbuts.
Annoyone who annoys her is liable to the worst beating of their lives, or deaths for that matter.
Likes showing off the true form of perfection no matter the weather, wings, tail, horns all out in the open ala mode when ever the mood strikes.
Likes the squalor and security of vlle loathsome cities.
Never surrenders to imprisonment, which has made Cyrodiil the hated muse for her talents.
Likes putting "deaders" back in the ground as a job because they allways have jink on them, she can sell the bodies and can eat as much of them as she likes...
I may use the console to pocket 1 - 5 coins every re-death for every undead creature.
Constant peeling "nothings free but whats in some berks pocket".
Loves diving off any high place.
No good quests just jink and cross trades.
Despises anyone she thinks, thinks lowly of her and gets wrathfully jealous over anyone she thinks is prettier than her.
