What are your characters quirks?

Post » Tue Jul 06, 2010 10:41 am

My Nord female inherited a strange name for a Nord: Hatshepsut. Maybe her parents had ideals of grandeur for her, but since she ended up in prison, they just disapeared from her life. Which is good, because she became quite hypocritical.

She always put things back in their places if she accidently moved them than talks nice to merchants making them like her and sells them stuff they won't ever need and never buy things from them. She also loves to steal their things, crafting them into something else and selling it back to them. They're none the wiser, so why would she care. The whole point of making potion is to make money, right?
She dresses fine and has done some great things so people think she's nice but, from the shadows, she strikes. She's actually a cold blooded killer who would sell her father and mother... if she knew where they went.

She prefers Mead over Ale or ordinary beer, for it's the local brew she grew up with, starting early in her life. One time, she got so drunk, she ask a neighbor in a tavern where was the nearest tavern and the answer was "Are you drunk? You ARE in a tavern". She said to herself "Hmmff?!?" and ask the same question to the other neighbor, getting the same answer.

She likes to hunt down deers, bears and wolves and make light armor from the pelts, selling them. Ohh, but she loves the meat too. No meals without a nice fresh venison, no. She has a self-made armor for every occasion, especially a black stealthy armor she puts on while sneaking, just before lockpicking some door that got locked for no reason. If she can't open it, she'll just bash it open. Like a real nord. She disguises herself as a member of the Imperial Legion, just so she can falsify her bounty records and never pay for it, with money, time or blood. All these three things are very important to her. She's perfecting her skills so she won't have to waste time falsifying a document for her bounty, because she'll be so good, she won't have any, anymore.

Oh, and she tries to be a day person, but she always sleeps too late and live at night. Sometimes, she'll sleep a few hours just to be able to barter with merchants and their bad habit of being open only during the day, then she'll go back to sleep until the night settles in.

I'm just learning Bewjok the Grey Wizard, my new Breton mage, is a ladie's man. He's not especially good-looking, but he seems to have a charm with the ladies, especially Bretons and Imperials. Some elves, too.

He keeps getting ladies sleeping in his bed in the Mage's Guild when he wakes up. It's happened so many times now I've lost count. And the weird thing is when Igodah Go^Pe was in the Mage's Guild, this phenomenon rarely happened to her. Inboth cases, each character (Beujok and Igodah) have been sleeping in single rooms with the door closed, not in a group area.

Beujok the Grey Wizard also seems somewhat neurotic, although it's hard to say how this will manifest itself. When he finally gets a house (it's gonna be the Chorrol one ultimately) we'll see what little odd quirks will come about as he decorates.

:) This is becoming a standard trait in your characters Renee Gade, you need to buy them a house of their own..
As all play and no work leads a character to a tired but very happy death.

Anna's new trait started on her first conversation when I created her, she can't speak any native nirn / tamrial languages.
So I have to seriously roleplay if a quest is tasked to her... or just ignore it completely.

Odiku, my Dunmer Skooma Dealer/Alchemist's quirks are:
She uses a large stick, to bash skulls in she is traveling to sell more skooma.
She also makes potions to sell to alchemists, so she doesn't become useless, should her skooma operation go under. It almost has, a few times.
She uses her skills in Illusion Magic to calm her pursuers, then gets out of there, unless the enemy looks easy to kill with her big stick.
She has a tiny problem with Alcohol.
She used to wear a Wooden mask with a set of these bizzare robes she was given, from a land of madness, but later got rid of these, and wears a nice fur robe instead.
She made her fortune when she found a very rich buyer who was interested in opening his own skooma den.
While she deals Skooma, she would never actually take the stuff, less for her to sell, and it would lessen her magical abilities.
Is quite a kleptomaniac, and recently entered the thieves guild to try to hone her sneaking ability

I love making limitations like this. Wanda Bone my slave/theif character couldn't read and barely had any education, which means no books, no scrolls, labels on most potions and poisons would not be understood (but she'd eventually figure out what the shapes of the letters stand for). Paranoid of just about everyone that's not a Redguard, theif, or underworld type.

Oh I got more Beujok the Grey Wizard stuff. He says corny things during battle, like when he casts a Fear spell he says "BE GONE!" And after clearing out a fort he'll be like "I am BEUJOK the Grey Wizard! And I have cleared the fort of underlings!"

I feel kinda weird since I generally make the same basic character everytime with different perks but still does like the same thing everytime. I enjoy it though and I still roleplay it so no big deal I guess.

Don't feel badly. I simply stay with exactly the same one character. I've been playing for just over 3 years and used to create lots of characters. A year and a half ago, I created my current character. 500 hours later, she is still going strong with no end in sight. Sometimes we do a quest, then don't save the game so it never happened. I have repaired the A Bomb for her twice, lol.

We never get bored, but if we ever felt like we were running low on things to do, we would consider the following:

Add more quest and land mods to expand her world.
Consider a companion like Vilja for her.
Import her face (Wrye Bash) to a new character and start her all over again.
Take her to TES III.
Take her to TES V (I'm sure it will have been out for quite some time before we are ready for that).

It is a bug that happens to some players, typically when the same character has lots of in game hours (like 200+). It results in very slow door opening and spell effect animations and eventually renders the game unplayable.

It can be fixed by a utility called Oblivion Animation Fixer (OAF) or by one of the features in Wrye Bash. It can also be 'fixed' by deleting your character and making a new one.

If you want more info on it, here is a thread: http://www.gamesas.com/?showtopic=813915&hl=slow/frozen+doors

So there's name for it. I lost 2 games so far to the A-bomb. Igodah Go^Pe literally got stuck in one of the final towers of the MQ because a door would not open. I thought this only happened on the PS3.

On-topic: I find myself laughing at my new mage character (Beujok the Grey Wizard) alot. He's such a cornball. Such an over-the-top Hollywood wizard. He sounds like a cross between Gandalf, Barry White, and Shaun Connery. Basically, imagine Gandalf's voice from the LOTR movies, but much deeper, and then imagine there's a bit of a slur when he talks.

So this character really is a "character". :) He's a goofball, though he has no idea of how funny he is to me!

I'm delighted to see you enjoying Beujok so much. He sounds like loads of fun, and very different from what you are used to in your other characters. Neat! :)

Im liking these bio's, they have real depth.. by the way im new here, just joined today. Heres my character bio.

His names Godric, hes a Nord and has been a vampire for 10 years.

He contracted the dark gift by exploring Barren Cave.

When he was first infected he was confused and didn't know how to handle his new life. Which led him to murdering and stealing things.

He joined the Dark Brotherhood and was taught to only murder criminals and bad people for gold.

He is now the Listener of the brotherhood and retired from being an assassin.

Godric fights hand-to-hand in the Arena's and steals from noble people.

When he is out in the wilderness he travels shirtless wearing nothing but black pants, Boots of bloody bounding and orcish gauntlets.

Godric has a lot of safe houses across Cyrodiil, but mostly resides in the Vile Lair.

His past-times are hopping around the roof tops of the Imperial city, and other cities.

He knows there is a cure, but does not seek it. He enjoys life as a vampire, and would never change it.

A most interesting topic, indeed. Just started a new Oblivion build with a new character philosophy.

Anri d'Silvae is a Moonshadow Elf (mod) who watched the death of the Emperor and his guards with almost disturbing disinterest. She spends virtually all of her time in the wilderness, acting as a ranger (marksman, light armor, sneak, blade, block) but has a talent with, and fascination of, magic (illusion, destruction). However, d'Silvae has less interest in helping people through the dangerous wilds as she has "seeing to their defense proactively", which is a nice way of saying that she slaughters those who encroach on "her" wilderness, be their motivations ernest or underhanded. Yet she does not actively protect wildlife, or even go to lengths to protect animals. Death has as much to do with the order of things as life. This woman is cold of heart and calculating, almost never showing emotion.

The Dark Brotherhood has found use in her skills, as has the Mages' Guild. Her dabbling of magic combines with her stealthy skills to create a deadly assassin, one who views the elimination of her prey to be part of what is the natural order in her mind.

Quirks:
[*] Abstains from eating meat or drinking alcohol, out of fear of becoming ill. Almost obsessive about staying in perfect shape.
[*] Always keeps a dagger in her boot and sheathed against the small of her back.
[*] Accustomed to sleeping in her comfortable bed, albeit with her boots on (see above).
[*] Distinct loathing of vampires, seeing them as roaches; yet, they have vast wealth and magic, always drawing her interest and depredations. Vampires that have been slain are dragged into bodies of water if possible.
[*] Sees necromancers has heretics against Sithis, and this is a happy marriage with her affiliation with the Mages' Guild.
[*] For some odd reason, has a soft spot for Argonians, and will help them when needed; conversely, has little interest in helping Nords and Orcs. Has an intense hatred for the heretical residents of Hackdirt and slaughters them with rare glimpses of esctacy.
[*] Has a keepsake of everyone she has assassinated.

----

Not as interesting as others here, but that's my character. :)

My character, Davneiros, is a bit obsessive compulsive. When stuff gets knocked over in the game, and there are items strewn about the floor, he'll pick it up and put it back where it belongs. The problem is, it often goes something like this.

*walks into a tavern*

Davnerios: "Oh look, someone knocked over this mug. I'll just grab that and place it back on the table."

Every NPC in the room: "Put that back you worthless thief!"

Imperial Guard: "STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM"

Ha ha!! This is awesome.

I'm playing Beujok (pronounced "Boo-Jawk") tonite :D lucky me. Yea this wizard cracks me up. He's totally absent-minded. Just walked into the Tiber septim hotel and wanted to impress the pretty lady who runs the place. So he stands before her and raises his arm, thinking he'll cast a cool Starlight spell and make her go "Ahhhh" :ooo:

Guess you know the rest...his current spell was a fireball! So he throws this fireball and just singes the dress she's wearing (instead of impressing her). Luckily, he missed her by inches!

Wow, all of the posts I've read so far have been really intriguing. Here are my character's quirks:

Arathanor

-Occasionally preaches his religion (Daedra Worship, Azura specifically) excessively, even to people that visit chapels of the Nine regularly. It's almost an obsession to him.
-Can't stand members of his own race (Bosmer) sometimes, he believes that they are acting like foolish, barbaric apes.
-Constantly practices his Magic, even when it's extremely un-called for.
-Can't help getting a strange feeling around poor folk, specifically beggars.
-Believes himself to be superior to some.
-Can't resist a fine drink of Wine.
-Extremely competitive when it comes to Magic.
-Hates his somewhat child-like eyes and mouth, tries to counter these features by growing a bit of facial hair and acting tough.

Those aren't all of his quirks, only a few of them.

My current character named Rainman(like they all are) has some different quirks compared to previous ones:
-doesn't necessarily align himself with a particular faction(in FG MG and DB), instead he'l take quests from them and complete them whenever he is in the area where the objective is located.
-has 3 large stashes of loot(2 in benirus manor, 1 in a grain sack in Bravil MG) waiting to sell off to merchants(I have OOO and Living Economy so Merchant's gold changes all the time).
-has yet to align himself with the Nine or a particular Daedric Lord.
-has no desire to go towards Kvatch since he always passes by some dude running away from it while traveling between Anvil and Skingrad.
-has finally bought horses for travel after going 2 months without one when Prior Maborel's Paint Horse disappeared.
-only practices alchemy when passing through the farms os Skingrad.

I've only played a few hours with my blind High Elf, http://i356.photobucket.com/albums/oo9/TLACharries/Oblivion2010-10-0823-19-14-19.jpg ("truth walker, guild of the bow"), on Friday night, but I'm already starting to understand him:

  • Never wears armor.
  • Tries his best to avoid unnecessary violence.
  • Never steals from homes or other beings (unless they're dead and have no use for the object).
  • Only fights with magic or a bow (or his fists as needed).
  • Only drinks alcohol at the arena, and only after winning a bet.
  • Now that he's out of the prison tunnels, will only steal alchemy ingredients and random gold or arrows from public places.
  • Only steals larger objects to sell from forts or dungeons.
  • Fights in the arena, because he believes his competitors are evil and he's doing a justice by wiping them from Cyrodiil.
  • Likes to be alone with nature.
  • Tries to catch the sunrise and sunset every day (yeah, I know he's blind . . . but I believe he has a magical sixth sense ;)).
  • Believes in getting a good night's sleep, unless he has a quest that involves staying out at night.
  • Will never ride a horse - he thinks it's unfair to the animal.
  • Will not eat meat, but loves to eat raw fruits and vegetables (and the occasional sweetroll).

Haha. I use RainmanMP as my name for all types of forums/Xbox Live/AIM/Email. And MP are my initials and my friends call me Rainman haha. FYI it has absolutely nothing to do with the movie Rainman. I'm not [censored] or anything.
