What are your characters quirks?

Post » Mon Jul 05, 2010 9:41 pm

Just wanted to know what weird and unusual quirks that people's characters have.

For example, my Breton won't use conjuration or bows at all. The only destruction he uses is weakness spells. He eats two tomatoes for every meal and wears Ebony Armor with a hood(a very well enchanted hood but still). He hates the Mages Guild and the Fighters Guild and wants nothing to do with the Thieves Guild. He will only sell armor and weapons retrieved from Oblivion Gates as he respects the combatants in Cyrodiil enough to let them rest in peace donning their armor but has no such respect for the Daedra of Oblivion. Also, since he acquired it, he has only used Goldbrand to fight his enemies.

My characters have a habit of wearing Light Armor and stealing stuff from other people when they aren't home.

^ That is a neat set of quirks. :goodjob: Here are some of my poor elf's:

Won't increase strength or endurance.

Won't touch a staff or melee weapon.

Likes Tamika's wine, strawberries, cheese, bread, venison and sweetrolls.

Although an accomplished mystic archer and graduate of the Arcane University, she is horrible with elemental magic. All she can really do with a fire spell is light a torch or cook a mudcrab. Oddly, she does ok with the destruction effects of weakness to poison and drain speed. She's a whiz with illusion though.

Water makes her clothes fall off (can't resist swimming at every waterfall).

Dresses only for fashion and changes outfits about a dozen times a day.

Wrinkles her nose and turns down more quests than she accepts.

Adores her precious black mare Superian.

If she gets surprised, scared and injured all at once . . . sometimes she pees herself.

Haha thanks. Lol way different than my character. Is there a reason for not increasing strength or endurance or not using staffs or melee weapons?
My Breton uses only melee weapons because he feels that using poisons/destruction magic/bow and arrow isn't as personal or honorable as an old school sword and shield duel.
Although he worships Tomatoes and is not a follower of Boethia, he understands the power of the gift received from him and has no desire to enchant his own sword as it doesn't have the doom bringing experience that Goldbrand has. He also is a Warlock in the Mage's Guild despite hating them more than anything due to their rudeness and extreme laziness.
He hates the Daedra and as such won't wear their armor as previously stated. He won't even use their remains in making potions either.

...

It's all for RP. Basically, she is small, weak and vulnerable, but darn good with a bow and illusion - very much a 'glass cannon'. This influences her approach dramatically. If she fights fair or goes toe-to-toe, she will likely die. Therefore, she strikes from the shadows to survive.

She doesn't use melee weapons because she is too weak to do any damage with them. She wouldn't want to fight up close anyway because she only has a tiny pool of hitpoints (base endurance).

Dyan phor a'Cauz

- reads alot.

- spends time in chapels. If it's Sundas, she'll spend the entire day in chapel if she happens to be in a town. She also plans her travels so that she'll wind up in a town on Sundas. She's totally obsessed with chapel, the Nine, and her Sundas reveries.

- only drinks "good-label" wines like Surille and Tamika.

- never dungeon-dives while drinking.

- wears cheap, lower-class clothes while in town (to appear humble instead of pompous) but usually wears expensive armors when out adventuring.

- considers most of the Fighter's Guild a bunch of lazy, no-good layabouts who whine and moan instead of truely getting out there to make a difference.

- often doesn't wear shoes in town.

- never sneaks.

- while dungeon-diving often wears a ring that casts light about her while carring a torch. Her reason for this is not so much illumination as it is to piss off those evils she finds underground by bringing light into their world.

- considers herself a holy servant. Has about as much ego as a wall.

- loves red meat.

- only officially owns one house (Waterfront shack) which is barely furnished, as she sees furnishing a house as ego-ish and a "waste of time".

Luci Pheria

- hates sunlight.

- hates "idle conversation".

- gets paranoid sometimes.

- likes eating rat's meat (this one shocked me early on, as she spent quite a bit of time in the Sewers finding rats to kill and eat during the Tutorial Dungeon).

- loves "playing" with other humanoids, by assaulting, torturing, and murdering them. For no reason other than her own satisfaction.

- has "arcane rituals" that (to me) don't make sense. I'll post a pic at some point of one of her rituals. They have nothing to do with Oblivion or the Nine or Sithis or Daedra. They are simply products of her own twisted imagination.

- wants to find a way to keep a zombie around at all times, without having to summon it.

- is too evil to use Resoration magics. Or light. So she carries a torch and uses Drain spells instead.

Renee Gade II

- was a drunk.

- tried to be good (KotN) but kept screwing up because she couldn't stop stealing horses and random items.

- got really lonely after buying her first house in Bravil. Looked for a friend to bond with...but alas, couldn't find one. :( So she started a personal quest to steal as much stuff from Bravil's castle as she could to cover up her insecurities & lonliness.

Wanda Bone

- found jail comforting.

- loved exploring the sewers so she could have an "escape plan" if the guards were after her. And often it worked!

- could not read.

- had only one true skill: picking locks. And running. That's 2 skills, actually.

- filled her free Imperial City house with dozens of useless, stolen items.

- aced the Thieve's Guild test (stole the diary) but decided she didn't to be told what to do, therefore she never did any Thieves Guild quests except that very first one.

- was a poor fighter/dungeon-diver.

- when the Emperor gave her the Amulet, she thought "how nice", and never delivered it.

Igodah Go^Pe

- hated orcs. Murdered orcs.

- didn't mind paying thousands of gold pieces to various towns if she got caught murdering an orc.

- didn't mind being seen as a snob. Really wanted the entire world to know SHE IS THE BEST MAGIC-USER IN ALL THE LAND.

- hated rain.

- occasionally would pull stunts in towns like assaulting a guard with a weak spell, summoning a massive demon ('scuse me, Daedra), and then going invisible, walking to a quiet corner, and watching the fun envelope. She did all this while she was Arch Mage, too.

- wore upper-class clothes only.

- went thru similar struggles between good and evil motivations like Renee Gade II did.

- had a huge ego (unlike Dyan the Paladin).

- was a vegetarian

- loved mead.

We've got some fun characters so far! Here are a couple I've been working on lately.

My Argonian Thief character only steals cheap items from rich people, so that he won't risk taking something somebody will really miss. He also learns about the person he's going to steal from beforehand, to make sure he doesn't take something of sentimental value, like stealing a fork from Big Head. He also wears upper-class clothes because he used to be fairly affluent but was evicted from his home recently and hasn't gotten over it.

My Breton self-insert character is a strict vegan. She won't use/eat/pick up anything that came from an animal, monster, daedra, undead, etc. Won't even use pre-made potions because who knows what went in them? She also gives everyone she meets a nickname. Like Count Badassildor.

Here's some of mine:

* Only uses staves and daggers, never sword, axes, or maces.

* Never intentionally steals, murders, or breaks the law unless it's related to the quest.

* Likes to gather every single herb/mushroom growing in the fields to bring back to his home for alchemy, though some ingredients he never even uses.

* Never wears any kind of armor, only regular clothes. Especially expensive clothes because he's a rich noble.

* Will eat any kind of meat, bread, and cheese, but only a few fruits and the only vegie he'll touch are potatoes.

* His favorite wine is Surilie Brother's Wine.

* He actually perfers to avoid dungeons as much as possible unless it's absolutely related to the quest.

* Though he helps Martin and the Blades to defeat the Oblivion Crisis, he's actually a Daedric Worshipper who perfers the prince Namira.

* Though he's a worshipper of Namira, he's actually a reasonably attractive Breton.

* He likes collecting jewels, ayleid stones, soul gems, sigil stones, animal pelts, and folded clothes.

* He hates the Thieve's Guild and gets tired of people talking about the Grey Fox.

* His favorite non-Breton race are the Argonians and he's friends with several of them.

That's all I can think of for now, he has a lot of quirks. :P

Osmundas' collects Dunmer single women, and brakes older Dunmer out of jail to join in, has an interest in exotic practices involving corpses, vampires, daedra and letteuce.
Dislikes getting his feet wet.
Hoardes jewels, jems, and metals scattered across their bed and fire place.
Uses rapiers and long swords exclusively.
Has a little voice in his head that tells him to look down on everyone on Nirn as an idiot, which they are.
Worships daedra.
Is thinking about taking up drinking, but looks on beggers and drunks as scum so just collects bottles to throw at them.
Finds male Dunmer in Cyrodill to be the most feckless examples ever to be born, but sidesteps the issue of how he got here.

Ash'kali loves her bed, she collects pelts from all over just to make it as furry and soft as she is.
As well as the finest cloth to spread on and lie under.
Loves warm well lit habitats so has covered her Leyawiin house in light from glow staves.
Is unable to use any armour or weapons not designed to fit on a Khajiit, so light armour mods, and elven mix.
Dispises bigots, has cleaned up leyawiin with the help of a revolution in the guard houses.
Seeks ingredient to collect so one day she can retire and learn to open a resturant with weebana, but has not told him about the recipies for rats yet.

^ Yea, Luci Pheria collects skulls, too. When she discovered Weatherleah, she took all the bones and skulls out of the attic and arranged them out in the front yard with about as much care as some of my other characters arrange jewels, books, and weapons around their houses.

Here's some otehrs I've forgotten...

- all my characters love putting pumpkins in front of their houses. I guess this is a Halloweenish thing, but they all do it, including my Lawful Good paladin Dyan phor a'Cauz.

- Luci Pheria and Wanda Bone have/had a "Quest Completed" log that includes the Tutorial Dungeon and maybe one or two other quests. That's it. Luci in particular rarely talks to anybody; hence she never gets assigned any quests in the first place. If she hears some NPC moaning in the corner about "lost potatoes" or "my farm is under siege", she titters to herself and goes into iggy-mode. :D

--Less practical quirks--

Valiri collects jewels because she loves to surround herself with beautiful things. I don't mean that she artfully places a few of them around her house I mean she has handfulls of them scattered everywhere (she's not especially neat.) They're severely undervalued in the game so she has no reservations about not selling them. She's not greedy anyway. She likes books and hourglasses too. It's her dream to get at least one copy of every book in Cyrodiil.

Her most prevailant quirk is her unnatural kindness and naivete. People tend to like her but her trusting nature would likely get her into trouble.
"You need some money? Ok, Mister... 'Bindat' was it? How much do you need?"
"How much you got? And it's 'Bandit' not 'Bindat.'"

She's very intelligent, just very naive.

She's also a bit bi-curious. Confused is actually a better word. She's quite love-sick but doesn't have anyone in particular that she likes more than anyone else.
"He's nice but so is she... !? :blush2: !?"

--More practical quirks--

She relies entirely on martial arts and magic to protect herself. For such a tiny thing, she's surprisingly strong. She never uses weapons, especialy not bladed weapons.
"I'd like to get covered in as little blood and as few guts as possible!"

She won't use armor because it's too heavy for her tiny frame to support. Even light armor is out of the question. She likes to look good anyway and she thinks most armor is ugly.
"The bad guys won't want to hurt me if I look pretty enough, right?"

She's not very good with destruction magic and generaly doesn't like to use it. Being a breton, she doesn't have any natural affinity for it and it's against her natural alignment with the forces of magicka (because she's so nice.) She excels with illusion and alteration magic though. She's unpracticed with restoration magic as she's a master alchemist and doesn't have much need for it but she has the breton affinity for it and it suits her personality so she always has a little bit of experience with it under her belt.
"Mixing chemical A with solution B should produce a stable compound that... :nuke: BOOOM :nuke:

- likes eating rat's meat (this one shocked me early on, as she spent quite a bit of time in the Sewers finding rats to kill and eat during the Tutorial Dungeon).

Don't you just love when characters do that? Shock, that is. Not the rat eating part. I once had a hydrophobic (aquaphobic?) character yell at me for getting him too close to water.

- has "arcane rituals" that (to me) don't make sense. I'll post a pic at some point of one of her rituals. They have nothing to do with Oblivion or the Nine or Sithis or Daedra. They are simply products of her own twisted imagination.

Oooh, sounds cool. I know I look forward to these pics.

Wow, these are awesome!

Thanks, I can't wait to play with them. Well, hopefully that will happen and I won't abandon them for some other ideas like I do all my other characters.

Is thinking about taking up drinking, but looks on beggers and drunks as scum so just collects bottles to throw at them.

This made me lol.

I like... blades. Swords. Daggers.

I collect ALL bladed weapons. Everything else, I sell.

Gregreo Oscarus
--> Loves to wander around the Skingrad home shirtless.

--> Loves to show off his new armor and swords.

--> When he finds a new item that will be useful, he magically duplicates it until he has around 2K-3K of it.

--> Loves to stand out in the balcony of his Skingrad house at night.

--> Loves to collect every single thing he can find. If he's not sure he doesn't have it, he takes it anyway. Two of the same thing is better than none.

--> Can't stand seeing injured NPCs, so he always stops to cast healing spells on them.

--> Whenever he leaves on an adventure, he carries at least 300 hammers, 300 Strong Potions of Healing, 300 Strong Potions of Chamelions, the Skeleton Key, and a decent set of armor and weapons.

--> Will not touch blunt objects.

--> Loves to fight in the arena.

--> Has the tendancy to punch [censored] NPCs in the face.

--> Once a month, he makes a pilgrim (wearing his old prison clothes and wrist irons) back to his old cell and walks the long path to the Imperial City Sewers exit, remembering when his adventures first started. Sometimes he takes his Mage wife, Dark Brotherhood follower, and Adoring with him, telling them exactly what happened in each spot. "This is where Renault fell, this is where the Emperor discussed my birth, this is where Glenory discovered we were walking into a trap..."

My Khajiit thief S'darrah is weak for fine clothings and good food, and so she will always steal dresses, food and wine from her "customers", along with valuables to sell. She's the most lazy and convenient thief there is - she has no interest in becoming the head of the Thieves Guild, and has politely declined helping out the Gray Fox any further. As soon as she got her Imperial City fence, she was content. That meant she could sneak about in the high class Temple District at night to get what she needed, and then spend her days walking around in fine clothes and enjoying a beer and good food at the local tavern.

Well let's see. I have 3 mains I use depending on my mood.

Siyuri - My dark elf bad girl and vampire. Does not wear pants, only dresses. Must be expensive dresses. She's extremely picky on who she feeds off of. No beggars. Does not steal. It's beneath her. She will kill you but never steal from you. (A girl has to have principles you know). Has a fascination with small pointy objects. A collection of daggers to die for! She'll kill you with magic or daggers. Nothing else. Large swords are unsightly. Does not carry lockpicks. She opens stuff with magic and ingenuity. If she can't, she'll come back when her learning curve has gone up. Her ambition is to be viewed as the hero of Cyrodiil and the mages guild so she can manipulate folks, return necromacy to its rightful place, feed on proper blood and get her way when she wants.

Rhavi - My Ohmes-Raht. Martial artist and ex-spy for Elsweyr. Stealer of shiney objects and believer of redistribution of wealth. She takes from those who have and gives to those who don't. Saves enough for herself to donate to the Temple of Rhavi on a daily basis. Always takes care of her waterfront friends. Leaves foods, gems, gold in various spots for them to find. Does not wear shoes. Ever. Loves crab meat, slaughterfish and milk. Has a sweet tooth so eats honey daily. Adventures for riches and amusemant and loves the rain. She loves her life and is my "most fun" character. When she saw Kvatch, she told the guard she'd be back and hasn't returned since!

Pang - My go-to character. Wood Elf Ranger/Scout. Loves all wild life and the forests. Hates the cities but will now tolerate them as she's found a new friend in Vilja (companion mod). Will always do the "right" thing but sometimes in a round about way. Loves to swim! Feels guilt on a daily basis as there are so many in need but she seems to never have the time for all of them at once. Always makes sure she's dressed right for the occasion. Hates the Bruma area. (Bummer as it's my favorite area). It's too cold for her. Gets distracted by pretty scenery and may take hours to get 20 minutes down the road. Has not much use for gold. Although she has found Vilja to be very expensive!

My Argonian Sniper Sal has only revealed a few quirks to me so far, here they are:

He refuses to ride a horse, preferring to run or swim (he really loves to swim)
He won't wear any kind of footwear, saying it is for "smoothskins"
He doesn't drink anything alcoholic, instead choosing to make himself some form of fruit juice (he favors apple and blackberry)
Doesn't use melee weapons, because needing one means he's screwed up
Likes wearing robes, saying that they help blur his outline when sneaking, and always wears a hood

I suspect more will be revealed later, he's a new character after all.
