What Are YOUR Traits?

Post » Mon Jul 25, 2011 3:39 am

Well, as you may know, Old World Blues added a plethora of new traits as well as a chance to respec. I personally started a new character with what I believe to be a potent combination. My traits are Early Bird and Skilled, which allowed me to pass all skill checks in Goodsprings and pick Hard locks at level 3.

What traits did you pick?

Anyone with half a brain would choose skilled, 10% less XP is nothing comapred to the skill boost, I also took Hot Blooded, I have a short temper myself and I think at 50% health a beserk mode would be useful.

Before, OWB, I prefer Good Natured. After OWB, skilled would be must have. Am I the only person who think Logan's Loop Hole is very weak?

On my main character, I have good natured, and wild wasteland.

I made a cl character that is like level 34, but I can t remember his traits. I have also made several more for D.I.D. with different ones.

Sometimes I take none at all, because they do not fit the character.

I haven't really played with the new ones yet, so I can't say much about them. Usually I play with Good Natured and Trigger Discipline. I talk my way out of problems when I can, but when I can't I prefer to kill with as few bullets as necessary.

Skilled - EXP is easy enough to come by in this game.

Loose Cannon - Easy enough to off-set with the Heave, Ho! perk. Good for tossin' grenades.

Er... don't vote I guess. I'm sorry, but I don't know the effects of me editing the poll and don't want to risk it..

Before OWB: Small Frame + Good Natured

After OWB: Small Frame + Skilled

No idea why small frame isn't more popular. Abusing a bear trap that is part of Barton Thorn's scam near Goodsprings quickly triggers a challenge perk that zeros out the penalty. Hell, the penalty only matters if you catch every explosive chucked at you, every bullet shot in your general direction and trigger every trap you remotely wander near.

I don't know why I bothered with Wild Wasteland, really, as 90% of them have gone right over my head.

Do you even NEED those skill points to max out skills?

No, Skilled is quite useless. The other perks offer you a once-in-a-lifetime chance to increase your firing speed, accuracy, melee damage, carrying weight, crit etc.

The character I took through OWB had Small Frame and Good Natured. I didn't change any of my traits.. Nothing would have helped at that point. Skilled is obviously the most valuable perk for delaying reaching the level cap before you finish the game.. but I only have four skills that aren't at 100 so taking Skilled would be a waste and the 10% wouldn't really do much to extend game play at level 40-45.

I'm hoping they add another trait to the next DLC that takes more off of XP... I would like to see that come down to a total of 50% off of XP.. They could put in Gifted (1 point to every stat) and take 40% off of XP as the penalty. If it only takes me half the full game to level all the way up then taking 50% off the xp should extend the leveling through out the whole game.
Really all that 10% does is get counteracted by the well rested perk. It's not really enough to delay reaching the level cap before the end of the game.

I picked:

Hoarder - I now roll 285 up to a max of 325 with maxed out strength. Running Loboto Jumpsuit is decent +1 Strength option. Down side, when below 160 lots of negatives kick in, but I usually like to roll with 160 gear. Has anyone tested if having a companion were a loboto jumpsuit givens them extra carrying capacity?

Skilled - was hitting lvl 42 so I thought getting the quick +5 skill added to any skills less than 100 was the best choice. Didn't mind the hit to experience levels, and won't mind the hit for the next DLC +5 levels to 50.

If I had it to do over, I might have picked Wild Wasteland over Hoarder so I could roll down around 100 without penalties. Hot Blooded also sounded interesting and a great way to pick up alot of HP repairing goodies.

Skilled and Early Bird, because I much prefer to play at night anyway.

The post-apocalyptic world is scary at night. D: I play during the day because it leaves me at a disadvantage because I can't see enemies from afar in the nighttime.

On Topic: I got Wild Wasteland and Good Natured. They seemed the best. Can you believe that the only reason I got Wild Wasteland is because I thought it'd be harmful to use any other perk, but a waste if I didn't. So I got WW to fill the void, neutrally.
