I would have to say glass or elven.

Light Stalhrim if you're going for a Frost mage.

My Breton Battlemage never goes into battle without it.

I would say something more heavy oriented since battlemages wore heavy armor in Morrowind.

Battlemage - Any Heavy Armor and a Hood. Contrary to the kids that want to poke fun at Daedric. It is, and will always be, the most badass armor in TES.

Spellsword - Any Light Armor. I have no real preference.

If you have Dawnguard and you do the Boethiah quest, that will get you a great Ebony armor with some additional benefits.

I agree that it one of the most badass looking armours but I hate it because of youtube and those that say daedric is best because it has the highest AR and they can get it past 1,000 AR.

you dont need dawnguard for that.

And you will need to be at least level 30 to get it. Worth it though, great armour.

Dremora are are powerful Battlemages, even though they only swing a sword in Skyrim. And the armor has always been my alltime favorite.

Just as a reference for the general populous... everyone 35 and under is a kid compared to me.

I think most heavy armors would have look great for a battlemage if they would have made available the mage's hoods. Not the college ones, but the ones glued to the robes. I don't understand why not make them available to the player. Easily the best hood. It would have even made the Dark Brotherhood Armor not look lame with the ugly ninja mask. Like the dunmer in the loading screen. That would have looked awesome with a black version and it looks more weather friendly.
