What became of the Knights of The Nine?

Has anyone seen any reference to them in Skyrim so far? Surely they wouldn't have been too happy about the Thalmor's outlawing Talos, and I got the sense that their ranks were steadily growing once all the Umaril business was wrapped up.

Given the report on the war between the Empire and the Thalmor, it's entirely likely they were eradicated and their manor destroyed during the War. As to in the game, the only references to the Knights I've found are copies of the books unique to the Knights of the Nine expansion (The Song of Pelinad(sp?)). It's also possible that the Knights have splintered off into other groups: The Vigilant of Stendarr, for example.

I once found a book, somewhere in the Pale or Winterhold, next a skeleton - I think it was just called The Knights of the Nine? Is that even a new book?
It said that not even the location of their priory is known anymore, though.

Seeing the NotN in a Skyrim expansion would be extremely interesting.

Because in Oblivion, they were egg-headed idiots who clearly had no idea who Pelinal actually was and what he stood for. Obviously never read the Song, and even let an elf join.

Of course, now that the Thalmor are an existential threat in every sense of the word, it would be interesting to see the Knights return to Pelinal's elf-hating ways.

I think that was probably more following the tone of Oblivion more then anything else. Nothing much made sense in that game.

With the immediate threat of Umaril gone, I'd imagine the Knights would have dissolved after awhile, helped along by the Great War. That said, Tamriel is a big place, and the the Knights were a small group. It's entirely possible that remnants of the group survived.

They lost a man and are now doing business as Knights of the Eight.

Companions also let Elves join their ranks. Nothing new there.
Unlike the Merethic Era when every Mer hated Men and every Man hater Mer, the current Era is more tolerant. The once anti-elven factions have softened up now and many Elves follow the Imperial Ideals rather than the Conservative Elven ideals (Thalmor are similar to the old ones but many Altmer now oppose it... and tend to get killed so those Anti-Elven factions are better friends than these "Real" Elves).

Pelinal himself was many thing's, but the aspect the KotN cared during the Oblivion Crisis was the Servant oft he Divines, not the Elf-hating one. Tough I guess they would have more Elf-haters aftr the Great War and all... but still not to Merethic Era standards.

That made me laugh out loud. "Egg-headed idiots" is an awesome insult.

If you think about it, they might not be very happy that their leader became a Daedra...

I liked to imagine that the order, as the threat from the Dominion rose, returned to Pelinal Whitestrake's roots and began fighting the knight equivalent of a guerilla war against the Thalmor. It's a fun thought, implausible as it may be, simply because I like the idea of a man wearing a winged great helm, clad in lunar-steel plate armour, mace-and-sword at his hip, shield at his arm, with a white surcoat fluttering in the wind on which is emblazoned a red diamond, boldly striding into a Thalmor encampment--hopelessly outnumbered--and then proceeding to slaughter elves with the name Shezarr on his tongue like it's the First Era all over again, a very amusing and cool idea.

If only it were true... :tes:

They probably disbanded again for the same reason they did the first time, war, when the Stormcrown Interregnum started they probably went off and fought for different sides and those that were left got whipped out in the chaos and all their artifacts were lost.
