What Became of Vivec?

Post » Thu Feb 24, 2011 10:57 pm

Do we have any theories as to what happened to Vivec after the events of Morrowind? Is The Trial of Vivec canon, at all? The fact that the devs participated isn't really a good reason to assume it is.

If it is, then could someone give me the lowdown of what happened? I'm too tired to work it out myself. >_<

According to a rumor in Oblivion, he disappeared and was rumored to have been taken by the Daedra.

That's why I was asking if anyone had any theories, regarding his disappearance.

No, I mean that, in the game, NPCs said something along the lines of "it has been said that he was taken by Daedra." As far as I know, that is the accepted version.

Well, it is just a rumor. I like to consider it a theory.

Talk about vague. Taken by what Daedra? Azura? Boethiah?

Either he CHIM'd and is now everything and himself, went to the Aetherius, was taken by daedra, or faded away. Obscure texts suggest CHIM, namely his trial.

Could you help me understand what The Trial of Vivec is about? I can't make head nor tail of it.

Vivec is being tried for the murder of Nerevar, but uses it to get his revenge on Azura, and disappears with CHIM*

* (CHIM is the realization and attainment that you are everything, everything is you, but you are still an individual, which is not like Zero-Summing, in which you realize you are all and all is you. However, you do not remain an individual and you disappear for good)

I understand CHIM, and I was pretty sure he used it there. But how did he get revenge of Azura, exactly? And for what reason? For bringing the Nerevarine to Morrowind and destroying his divinity?

He got revenge like this
Vivec: "Here, this is Muatra. Guess what it represents."

Vivec stuffs Muatra into Azura's mouth. Azura chokes!

Vivec: "YOU ARE BANISHED FROM THIS STARRY HEART"

Azura explodes.
Now, the spear isn't just a literal spear, it's also symbolic.

As to why, wasn't because of his divinity, he gave you the plans to remove Heart of Lorkhan to rid Nirn of Dagoth Ur. The real reason was: Azura is a scheming and extremely petty [NUMMIT], and she's responsible for the deaths of Almalexia and Sotha Sil.

I remember a moderator saying the trail was semi-canon,so either the trail happened but it didnt end like it did,or the trial didn't happen but he banished Azura and disappered,or one of those two.

Edit: Or something in the middle didn't happen *shrug*

How is she responsible for the deaths of Almalexia and Sotha Sil? Almalexia went mad at the loss of the divinity she relied so heavily upon, and killed Sotha Sil.

Who do you think is responsible for permanently ensuring she cannot replenish her Godhood? Why do you believe she appears to you after you put the Lady of Mercy down?

http://www.imperial-library.info/content/imperial-census-daedra-lords

Azura, Lord of Dusk and Dawn, maintains the domain of Moonshadow, a twilight country of shades and half-thoughts. Visitors to this isle have historically come mainly from the Dunmer of eastern Morrowind and the catfolk of Elsweyr, whose people both hold a great affection for the mother of immanence, though by separate roads. At the time of this writing, regular gateways to Moonshadow have been inaccessible for the last several years. Whether this has to do with the unlawful incidents at Hogithum Hall in the Capital City or mere whim of Azura herself, no one can say. Of course, Azura’s most famous acts of recent times is the Incarnation of the Nerevarine, a subject that while far beyond the scope of this pamphlet has been felt to the present day.

As Hairdo has indicated, she is inaccessible although it is anyone's guess if she will be back after 200 years. She can't die, though it might take her some time to reform/come back/get over the indignation.

Sul believes that she interacted with him in the beginning of the Infernal City, roughly 40 years after the trial.

Ah yes true. Although it could be what he wants to believe. Or she might be so weakened that she chooses to only contact a few people with vague signs. Not that she wasn't vague before. Maybe she is just reeeally upset over her "humilitation". I wonder what her motivations (if she has any) might be for the whole Infernal City storyline

At the moment, her motivation is that she's tormenting Sul, because she seems to like him a lot as a play thing. At least, that's what it sounded like when he served her for 20ish years after he escaped Clavacus's realm, wouldn't let him leave when his contract was over (requiring him to forcibly leave), and keeps tossing in visions for lulz, but also as hints.
