What becomes of the clockwork city?

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:06 pm

Anyone got any speculations on what happens to it? What becomes of the robotic creatures living there now that sotha sil is dead? Will they just live on like nothing happened? Will they start to think by themselves/become evil and be the villians in a new tes? Or does everything fall apart with sotha?

Any ideas or speculations?

I think it would rock if we could return there one day in a new game and see the whole of the city.

The City is a strange and profane thing. It's probably self sufficient and productive, like a perpetual motion device. It'll most likely just keep on going untill it is destroyed somehow.

I don't really know really. I think all we can do is speculate, since it's always been very obscure.

I also belive it's self sufficient and will probably be a deserted place for a while. But it would be really nice to return there.

http://www.uesp.net/w/images/TR-NPCs-SothaSil.jpg, foolishly trying to join with http://www.uesp.net/w/images/TR_Creature_Imperfect.jpg.

Maybe Sotha Sil didn't care about losing his divinity....since he didn't find CHIM. "Maybe try Nu-mantia? http://www.imperial-library.info/obscure_text/5th_era_loveletter.shtml How am I going to do that? I'm a god? Wait, I'll just become mortal again. VEHK! I'll head for Nu-Mantia and you head for CHIM. Ayem? Ah, screw her. (We all have, right?) Maybe the Nerevarine will help her reach Heaven by violence, heh heh."

"The Imperfect". What a name, and right under our noses too.

The City still stands. "This is the promise of the PSJJJ: egg, image, man, god, city, state. I serve and am served. I am made of wire and string and mortar and I accede my own precedent, world without am." (http://www.imperial-library.info/mwbooks/lessons.shtml#25)

If you wish to go there, you must find it first.

I think the city will remain,I cannot see how it wouldn't unless the machines fall apart from lack of care. Those giant sprockets would make quite a bang if they crashed.

If a sprocket falls in a bat[censored]crazy god's dwelling, and no one is around, does it make a sound?

(I suddenly wonder how much Tribunal donations went to soundproofing funding. Greedy bastard.)

Is it not indirectly stated that Sotha Sil's domain is populated by "unnatural" beings, of his own fabrication, and that the part we visit in Tribunal is "Just a small part" of his city?

Personally, I could see the city being a very useful refuge after a certain GIANT BALL OF POO lands on vivec's city........ It being outside the normal space of reality and all.

Rust.

About the only way there is by means of a magic ring a certain someone took with them to (perhaps) Akavir so I don't quite think the city will be used as a refugee shelter, Wierd.

Did Barilzar have anything at all to do with the Tribunal? Last I heard it was just a general teleportation device.

Gotta be a pretty good sorceror to become a lich. Gotta be an even better one to become a lich king. Probably one of Sotha's lackies trying to get into the city, and was punished.

Actually, if you read his dialog, you will learn that he became CURSED for creating the ring, and has to guard it for all eternity. he wasnt too happy about that. Thats why he doesnt want you to have the thing. He himself considers it a mistake to have created it.

In the hands of a daedric lord, it could spell unspeakable horror for the world of Nirn. :P

To be cursed is just to undergo a form of punishment.

Yes, not too happy at all. Silly man.

Though what about the Fabricants? If somebody didn't shut down the factory line, then....

Not a problem...they only attack on command.

What if there's no one to command them? Are they intelligent enough to start doing things on their own?

Yet another reason for the Nerevarine to go to Akavir. The Mythic Dawn couldn't follow him there.

If you ask me, It would probably just sit there, turn into ruins, and be discoverd a millenia later. Just like the dwarves.

The Nerevarine would woop their asses and send them back home crying to daddy Camoran.

The Nerevarine could be living there, no one know where he or Vivec went.... They could be hanging out shooting pool in Clockwork City... It is immpossible to find them if they where there, and a lot easier to go there than Akavir

Yeah, but they only needed the band. They wouldn't have needed to kill or even confront him to get it. Not like its likely, but hey, why take the risk?

But yeah, he probably left for other reasons.

I imagine that over the years, normal reality will slowly overgrow Sotha Sil's Clockwork City again and ever so slowly undo his project of reshaping the world from within.

Another interesting thing to note is the words " My city is where I live, and I live in my city. Its location is unimportant, as I am its only citizen." Curiously, the only physical way out of the city seems to have collapsed (in an otherwise pristine mechanical environment) the moment that Seht passed away.

But, ingame don't they still attack you if you have left any alive after completing tribunal and you go back to the clockwork city.

If you ask me that's likely because they don't like strangers on their turf.

And gameplay mechanics too.

Surely it would have been relatively simple to script them so they didn't attack after you complete tribunal?
