What is, being realistic, the "level cap"?

I know with legendary that there isn't a definitive level cap, but by what level do you generally find a character has done most there is to be done with them, maxed out all necessary skills, done enjoyable quests, etc?

I made a character reach level 117 before starting any quests.
The level of the character doesn't make me stop playing it. The end of the characters story is what causes me to finish a character.

Depends on the number of skills you include in a build really. Most of my warrior builds have one-handed, two-handed, heavy armor, archery, block, smithing, enchanting, alchemy. By the time I have all skills maxed and perked they have reached Lv. 70ish. Then there's builds specialized in one combat skill and the crafting skills, they tend to peak out at around 50-60ish.

edit....

should add that the build with one combat skill still includes armor and block skill on top of the other 4 skills which helps push the Lv. into the high 50's to mid-low 60's.

This is a tough question. Many people finish things quicker than others, and do some skills others do not.

I'm level 87 on my current character and has much to do. Most of his skills are maxed out, and I've legendaried a few of them as well. Some people are done with their characters at level 60, it all depends.

It all depends on when my character has truly reached their end, as far as quests, favors, guilds and RP ideas that fit their particular RP. It could be level 25, it could be level 85. Really depends.

My characters are usually between 40 and 50 when they get retired.

What bothers me is the actual leveling system. Think about it, if you build a full on warrior, dump everything in health and stamina, you will get stuck at around level 50-60.

So, either start going into thieve skills (sneak, alchemy, light armour etc) and mage or hit legendary.

Problem is, either case you are boned. Try using flames on draugr death overlords (4+ of them when you hit level 50+), or try swinging you'r warhammer when it is reset to level 15.....makes no sense.

It is the one thing i really just hate doing in Skyrim, no way can you be a true pure mage level 81, or a pure thief or warrior.....unless you reset the key skills and face serious enemies with level 15 skills.......so much for that.

That's where the quality of your gear comes in, by the time you can legendary your skills or a skill you should as well be able to smith decent equipment. Thus you are still shelling out Ok damage if you legendary a combat skill, relying on the damage output of your weapon as you re-level said skill.

edit....

you level up faster when playing on legendary as well so it doesn't take long to get a skill back up to snuff
