What to do beyond the quests

Post » Sun Jan 31, 2010 3:22 pm

With my new character, I don't want to just do all the quests, but I want to roleplay. With my last char, after some time I had gone through all the quest and then I lost motivation. Now I want to treat this different.

My character is mainly an assassin, my focus lies on Dark Brotherhood. But he is also in the Thieves Guild. Can you give any advice how to roleplay this kind of char and what to do outside the quests that is still related to these guilds? It should be a bit more than just picking a random person and kill him/her.
He's also going to become Vampire.

Thanks in Advance.

You can explore with any character.

For me it's very simple. I ask my characters what they want to do next.

I think you can imagine lots of possibilities.

Complete the TG, because it is such a nice story. Then turn the guild over to Methredhel - she will make a superb guildmaster, and allow you to turn your attention to. . . darker matters.

As far as the DB, stop progressing in the questline while the Sanctuary still has its full complement of original members. Then work up assignments that have some background and depth to them. Oh, and don't forget that whoever you kill, the DB should insist on having their soul delivered in a black gem as proof of the deed.

As far as becoming a vampire, my goodness, I would not only talk to Vincente, but also Count Skingrad and Melisande. Vampirism is not something to go into lightly, and frankly, I would want to know a lot about it first - to include how to remove the disease once it has progressed.

The key is thinking beyond the quests that are tossed at you in the game and changing them to suit your purpose or creating your own.

Going for vampire is a great idea. My main character was one temporarily and I loved it, I only changed back for aesthetics, otherwise it was good. I made another character who would look good as a vampire and he is one, full-time.

As for DB, don't kill people randomly, that's not what Assassins do, that's what murderer's do, there is a fine, but clear line between the two titles. Choose to kill either those you hate, or rich people, in creative ways.

Partially agree. Random killing is what murders or psychopaths do.

Killing people you hate is what murders do, not assassins.

For an assassin, killing is a job. Only kill if you get a contract for it. There are a few quests like that, but since this is in the General Forum I can't discuss on identify them. Too bad, being in General limits what I can say. However, you can roleplay a back story for each hit. If you're on the PC you can give your character a monetary reward. For example, maybe someone wants the Count of Bravil out of the way.

Well, yeah, it is a job but once quests run out you have no one to kill. Reason I meant kill people you hate, but not who your character hates. RP that the job is killing a person in-game, a person you happen to hate in real life..

You could just kill people that piss you off or that you think have something coming to them, like if they are racist or seem like they have pissed someone off.

Well for roleplaying in the thieves guild portion when you go into someones house dont take everything they own only take things that you can carry or small things like jewelry and scrolls and stuff like that. For the brotherhood portion you could find some random guy in a town and follow him around and learn his plan day to day and find the perfect time to strike and take him out, its like having more contracts that you asign yourself.

That makes more sense. And there are several in game places where you can come up with a believable story. You can even sneak into a dungeon and kill a bandit or marauder boss or something like that.

Not really, I think. There is nothing in the rules about spoiler tags. Just about no spoilers in General, no mention of "except with spoiler tags".
