What body mods are mostly used now?

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 3:30 am

I've been away from oblivion for quite a long time, now I decided to give it another run with all those updates for my favorite mods. Only thing I can't figure out is what body mod (female) to use. I've used exnem's before and I loved it, with almost all armors avaliable for it (vanilla, ooo, mmm, etc) but I figured it's quite old now so people probably moved to some other and did all that for another mod. So i was wondering what body mod does community prefer now (if exnem isn't as used as before) and are there replacers for vanilla and fcom armors for it.

I think HGEC is the current standard (if such a thing exists), but Roberts Female is gaining popularity and, personally, I think it looks better - more like a real in-shape woman and less like a comic-book female. It's all a matter of personal taste, though.

i prefer Roberts female as well, but i just switched to tgnd. its a newer one and theres no support for overhauls yet, well not that i know of at least. you can always use the hgec replacers tho, since they use the same textures.

Been using exnem since its creation(geez I sound so old). It's a standard..but it's not as popular as it used to be.

I would like to put in a plug for TGND: The Girl Next Door, by Luchaire and Kalia. TGND is my new favorite female body mod. It doesn't yet have the extensive support for modded armors/clothes that HGEC has but it does support vanilla clothes and armor and Luchaire is busy adding TGND versions of modded gear all the time. I think they've done a really fantastic job with this body.

I can't link to the mod on this forum but you can find it easily if you run a search for TGND or an advanced search on Luchaire's name.

Thanks for the compliments on it. :)

Also - Just a note that TGND version 2 was released just a short bit ago today. ;)

And yes, support for modded stuff is ongoing. Eventually we'll get the MMM/OOO/etc stuff all done, too. (I keep hoping other modders will jump in and help out but so far, no  )

I've checked TGND and it's very well made indeed (i love how natural it looks) , but I'm sticking with HGEC for now due to (currently) much larger support.

TGND is probably going to put a stopper on Robert Fem's support base. Well, I am a very happy Robert fan, but TGND is currently supported and sports the more realistic body shape, which is why I went with Robert's (even with HGEC having the most support.) However, if you look at the TGND description you'll see it supports HGECs mapping (which means you can use just about an HGEC mod.) If Slof adds support for TGND to the same mods that have Robert Fem support, I'll be sold...

Edit: ...actually I'll need Mystic Elves textures first. I need them to match Ren's faces too (which is a major problem.)

Slof won't. She's already told me as much. She hates the HGEC UV map, which TGND uses.

That said, I am converting things all the time (I even have quite a few conversions done that I just haven't had time to release yet), and I also always welcome suggestions/requests for specific conversions that people want.

If there are HGEC Mystic Elf textures, you'd be all set.... TGND uses any HGEC textures. ;)

EDIT: @ Prime Monky: Yes, same page as the first release.

What face texture mod do you recommend for HGEC (if it doesn't come with its own face textures - downloading lots of mods, didn't have time to check)?

^^

This. I made the switch myself after a lot of contemplation. I love this new body! My girls look real. And I don't have to keep running around with a huge chest on my elf to get clothes that fit right.

Now if I could only figure out how to do convesions, I'd help them!

Well, that is a bummer. I'll keep her mods around regardless of what I choose to do, but the elf textures are a must. Ozmo has Mystic Elf textures available for HGEC, but I prefer Ren's original face textures, and those were not made to match. The other problem is that my main companion (see my avatar) is darker skinned, which exacerbates texture mismatch issues... :(

HGEC has (due to extensive support as mentioned before :P ) Hi-Rez Textures Replacers for 2048x2048 and 4096x4096 as well as Hi-Rez Face Tex Replacer
And recently I discovered for myselt much smooter face egt file which makes the character's face much smoother. You can find it on th edownload page of Latamer race v.3 @Nexus

Can't find any of those hi-rez mods. Only ones I found are Luchaire's body seam reducer and f-inev oblivion skinset.
Also searching for "Latamer" doesnt give any results

found it :D

I just discovered TGND and I really like it. I am currently using BAB for females and Robert's for male and have been for a long time, but there is something refreshingly... realistic(dunno if that's the word?) about TGND, and I like the additional physics aspects, too. It is also convenient that the Tabaxi race is so well supported, as I am a big fan of that. :goodjob:

I have downloaded alot of TGND stuff but am holding off on installing yet since I am waiting on a few more armor and clothing sets to be updated to Ver2. In particular, any word on Kogane's Ranger Armor Phasmatis's Leather Hunter Armor or Exnem Rogue Outfits/Exnem Eyecandy Warrior Armor being converted to Ver2 any time soon? I mean, I know TGND was just released, but I will be waiting with baited breath for those conversions and more! (and the 'wulf rarely drools!)

I wish I could help, but the little I know about modding mostly pertains to dialogue and scripting (and that was mostly MW CS) and right now I can't even get my Oblivion CS to work without crashing when I try to edit dialogue. Sorry.

Very soon on all 3. But after the marathon modding hours for days on end trying to get Version 2 finished, I'm taking a couple days off from Blendering anything. :D

Then I'll get all those earlier conversions re-converted, and start working on more new stuff.

Well, thanks for all your hard work, and enjoy your much needed break! I have always enjoyed your Tabaxi race(although in my game, I made an alternate version called Ohmes-Raht with slightly different stats and background because I am a lore junkie). I never released it or anything though.

I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but while were on the subject, do you know if there are any problems using Deserts of Anequina if you are already using a Tabaxi mod (since Anequina has it's own version)? I mean, it's kinda related b/c I am using a BABarized version of the Tabaxi and I'm thinking of switching to TGND very soon... I don't know if I should wait to install the Elsweyr mod until after I've switched over the body mod or not or if it's even a big enough deal to worry about?

I have no idea. I've never used it, never even looked at it, and... err... actually had no clue it was using the tabaxi...

I prefer roberts for one main reason over HGEC. That is that roberts hands seem attached to the body. Its one seamless mesh, where as HGEC uses the original bethesda hands and it looks funky to me.

If TGND doesn't do the same thing as HGEC with hands, and there is support for the major overhauls... then im sold :)

Really? Oops. Well, you are credited, at least... I had just assumed you knew about it. Well, it's called "Elsweyr: Deserts of Aquina" by Illiana and it looks like a great mod that alot went into (about 400MB ), but it was pulled from Nexus a while back and the topic has since disappeared from TES Forums. All very strange, but I guess this isn't the topic for discussion here. If you want the link, just PM me or just google it and you can probably find it.

Interesting, I like the idea of extra meat (without silly proportions), for TGND how do the arms, legs and such scale when you increase the race's weight/height ratio? (for example like 1.05-1.1 weight and 1.0 height)

TGND has its own hands, which are smaller than HGEC's, and are 100% totally seamless (assuming correct textures) as of Version 2.

It does not, however, have support for the overhauls just yet. On the to-do list. ;) There's a lot of conversions involved.

Uh... I don't understand the question... The body scales just like all bodies scale when you muck with height/weight. It's universal scaling.
